Classic footage from the opening of Chicago’s Power House Club in 1986 has surfaced, featuring the recently deceased Frankie Knuckles along with a number of Chicago’s early house pioneers.

“How hot is house music right now?,” the cameraman asks a young Frankie Knuckles. “On a scale from one to 10,” he replies, “It’s 12.” Though not the focus of the 12-minute film, Knuckles does provide many of its highlights, discussing the links between disco and house and giving a peek into the DJ booth while the “Godfather of House” himself is behind the decks.

Aside from Knuckles’ appearances, the newly resurfaced clip gives an insightful look into Chicago’s house scene of the mid-’80s, getting a range of thoughts from house musicians and fans, and capturing a particularly spirited performance from local musician/DJ JM Silk. Since 2011, Pittsburgh Track Authority has been issuing a steady stream of tunes, popping up on labels like Argot, Work Them, Uzuri, and others. The outspoken Pennsylvania trio’s music is solidly rooted in traditional house tropes, but has also flashed elements of techno, electro, and disco during the outfit’s prolific run. With more than a dozen EPs to its name, Pittsburgh Track Authority has decided to make the leap into the full-length format, and has finished a debut LP that’s scheduled to appear next month. The eight-track effort is called Enter the Machine Age—the title is taken from the trio’s studio, Machine Age—and it will be released in May via the group’s own Pittsburgh Tracks imprint. According to the press materials, the album is a “diverse” listen, one that presents “a variety of rhythms, from breakbeats to African,” that “underpin the lush synthetic and organic instrumentation.” The artwork for Enter the Machine Age can be seen at the top of the post, and the complete tracklist has been included below.

Italian techno stalwart and half of Voices from the Lake, Donato Dozzy has announced that his next solo release will be a four-track EP for Lucy‘s Berlin-based Stroboscopic Artefacts label. Called Terzo Giorno (which translates to “third day”), the record is said to be “an EP of great textural dexterity, traversing the moving and the misanthropic,” and will arrive on May 13. Chicago’s injured-R&B troubadour Tom Krell (a.k.a. How to Dress Well) shared his most recent slice of deeply moving music early last month, posting a stream of “Words I Don’t Remember” with little other information than a touching quote from the artist and a link to a new website. Almost a month later, the singer/producer has announced the details of his next album, and dropped another of the forthcoming record’s singles to stream online.

“What Is This Heart?” (artwork above) will be the third official full-length to arrive from Krell, and is scheduled to appear on June 23 via Domino’s Weird World imprint as a CD and limited-edition deluxe LP package (complete with 180g vinyl, 28-page booklet, and a one-sided, etched 10″ with two non-album tracks). Produced in Berlin with the help of Rodaidh Mcdonald, How to Dress Well’s latest is described as “an ambitious 21st century pop album that takes influence from artists as varied as Prince, Bill Callahan, Burial, and Tracy Chapman… managing to exist in a perfectly judged hinterland of fragility, sexuality and overwhelming joy as a result.” The 12-track album is preceded by “Repeat Pleasure,” a stripped-down cut of glowing R&B which Krell himself says was inspired by “‘I Would Die 4 U’ Prince, ‘Make 1, 2’ Arthur Russell, [and] ‘Everywhere’ Stevie Nicks.” That song can be streamed in full below, where the tracklist for How to Dress Well’s “What Is This Heart?” LP is also included.

After teasing his next full-length record with digital single “Be My Own Pupil” late last year, Washington, DC-based 3024 label boss Martyn has finally announced his follow up to 2011’s excellent Ghost People LP, a 10-track album called The Air Between Words. The record is set to arrive on June 16 via Ninja Tune, and will feature collaborations with inimitable UK producer Four Tet and former Hype Williams singer Inga Copeland (a.k.a. copeland). Martyn is said to explore “an entirely new sonic direction” on The Air Between Words, which he did through “experimentation with purely analogue sounds and equipment.” The DJ/producer says of his upcoming LP, “Without the music being introspective, this is my most natural sounding album.”

Before The Air Between Words drops this summer, its artwork and tracklist—which, oddly enough, doesn’t include Martyn’s “Be My Own Pupil” single—can be perused below; more info on the album is available here. Ibiza-based producer of many monikers Mark Barrott is set to release the Sketches from an Island LP via his own International Feel imprint on June 2—the first full-length under his birth name. Sketches from an Island is said to be “inspired by those weird, unique little oddities that would turn up on early José Padilla mixtapes that he’d sell in the Las Dalias hippy market, before he even went to the Café Del Mar,” going on to explain that “it’s influenced by living in Ibiza year-round, and by the feeling of what I think Balearic sounds like.”

Before Barrot’s upcoming LP sees its official release, the album’s sunkissed first single, “Baby Come Home,” can be streamed in full below, where the complete tracklist for Sketches from an Island is also included.

After teasing news of a forthcoming LP in conjunction with her recent live session back in February, the particulars of Fatima‘s debut artist album have finally arrived. Set to drop on May 12 via Eglo, Fatima’s Yellow Memories LP will feature a stacked production list including the likes of Floating Points (who on “Do Better,” reworks a track originally crafted by Theo Parrish), Oh No, Scoop DeVille, Computer Jay, Knx., and Flako (who was responsible for the tracks on Fatima’s “Family” b/w “La Neta” single, both cuts from which appear again on her forthcoming LP). Furthermore, the vocalist’s 12-track long-player debut is described by Eglo as striking “a beautiful balance of cutting edge, contemporary production, soulful expression, melancholic introspection and vibrant, candy-coated melody.”

Along with news of her album, the Swedish singer has also announced a number of upcoming live performances that will see her traveling from England, across Denmark, and over to Croatia. Those dates, as well as the full tracklist for Yellow Memories (complete with production credits) can be found below; no album artwork has been shared at this time.
