With the arrival of the Bleep:10compilation just under a month away, the online music retailer celebrating its 10th anniversary, Bleep, has been slowly unleashing some of the release’s exclusive tracks to stream online. We’ve already heard Fuck Buttons’ contribution, and we’re now treated to the unreleased track arriving from prolific, multi-faceted producer Machinedrum, an expectedly drum-centric tune called “aeolia.” The production falls somewhat in line with the artist born Travis Stewart’s recent Vapor City LP, relying on the juxtaposition of stuttering, footwork-slanted beats with astral atmospheres and soulful samples. It’s a fine example of what makes him a consistently interesting artist, and also of why we’re looking forward to when the rest of Bleep:10 drops on May 5.

Earlier this year, formerly anonymous producer DIVA revealed himself to be Matt Didemus (a.k.a. half of Canadian outfit Junior Boys) at the same time that he announced the launching of a new label by the name of Obsession. Now, the imprint’s debut release has officially landed in the form of a four-track compilation featuring a new DIVA production along with new work from fellow Canadian Iron Galaxy and others, all of which can now be streamed in full.

Simply entitled Obsession Recordings 001, the four-track affair focuses on dense and guttural dance music, with DIVA’s “Judas” and Yør’s “Vertigo” reaching to more space-minded atmospheres, while Primitive World’s “Of Vapor and Light” offers abstract sonics alongside Iron Galaxy’s and Sexlife’s deep-reaching collaboration “Climate.” Out now, the debut EP from Didemus’ Obsession label is available to hear in its entirety below.

LA producer Napolian (a.k.a. Ian Evans) first surfaced on XLR8R back in 2011, and we’ve enjoyed watching his gradual ascent over the past few years. Next month, he’ll be taking his biggest leap yet when he releases his debut full-length via the Oneohtrix Point Never-curated Software label. Evans initially hooked up with Software for his 2012 EP, Rejoice, and since then, he’s done production work for the likes of Kelela and A$AP Ferg, amongst other things. All the while though, Napolian has been working on this debut LP, which is described as a “clandestine labor of love” that was made over the course of two years. Entitled Incursio, the 14-track effort is said to primarily be an instrumental beats record, one with “no break record samples, no dust, no crates. No jazz rust, no deconstruction.” The LP will be released on May 24, but Napolian has already shared its first video, for the track “DARPA.” The intense clip nicely combines the song’s neon bombast with images of robots and military might, and can be seen below, along with Incursio‘s artwork and complete tracklist.

A new mini-doc gathers a number of longtime London DJs and producers to discuss the history and evolution of the city’s fabled club residencies. Sprinkled with commentary from BBC Radio 1 host Benji B, Boiler Room’s Thristian, XL label co-founder Richard Russell, and producers such as Joe Goddard, Lil Silva, and Erol Alkan, the five-plus-minute film quickly maps out the evolutionary path of London’s most notable regular club nights. Through fresh interviews and footage, director Rollo Jackson gives viewers a sense of the atmospheres and musical diversity which have come to define what is one of electronic music’s most continuously active cities.

Seemingly out of nowhere, L.I.E.S. boss Ron Morelli has released an album of eight brand-new tracks via Dominick Fernow’s Hospital Productions label. Periscope Blues follows only a handful of months after the DJ/producer’s debut LP, Spit, and its subsequent Backpages EP, and is said to be a “deeply claustrophobic” record which its creator describes as “the culmination of a mission gone wrong.” He goes on to say that his new album is “music for the stranded, the lost, those backed into a corner with nowhere to go.” Periscope Blues is available to purchase on vinyl now, and can be previewed here.

The second installment of a three-part series of short films arriving ahead of Ben Frost‘s upcomingA U R O R A LP for Mute has appeared today, featuring sounds lifted from the nine-track album. Filmmakers Trevor Tweeten’s and Richard Mosse’s quick piece splices together footage detailing an icy landscape, most of which seems to be taken from the DIY films of climbers and spelunkers.
