Steve Hauschildt Readies Double-Disc Album for Editions Mego

Former Emeralds member Steve Hauschildt has announced he will release a collection of previously unreleased and rare recordings circa 2005 through 2012 on an upcoming double-LP for Editions Mego. Set to drop on September 16, S/H will not serve as a proper album, but rather an “anthology” of sorts, documenting Hauschildt’s evolution as an artist and perhaps illuminating his eventual role in Emeralds. The collection is said to incorporate everything from “short electronic sketches to full-blown synthesizer suites,” with many songs lifted from limited CD-Rs and long-out-of-print cassette releases. Preview the Upcoming Funkineven EP for Julio Bashmore’s Broadwalk Label

UK acid enthusiast and frequent Kyle Hall collaborator Funkineven is set to return with a new solo EP for Julio Bashmore’s Broadwalk label. Species seems to find Funkineven continuing to hone his robotic, driving approach to house while exhibiting a level of playfulness. Case in point: the accompanying trailer for EP cut “The Joker,” wherein Funkineven is clad in medieval armor as he prepares for battle over a soundtrack of skittering hi-hats. The release date for the producer’s three-song EP has yet to be announced, but two of its tracks can be heard below.

Myrryrs “RX Shakur”*Body High*

Back in May, Myrryrs dropped his Southside Horror EP via Samo Sound Boy’s and Jerome LOL’s club-minded Body High imprint. And now, to spread word of his upcoming summer tour, the producer born Justin Hobbs has unleashed a free EP of Southside Horror edits—including the fast-and-efficient “RX Shakur,” a tune which finds him wrangling an array of crunchy rhythms and boisterous vocal chops for an unmistakably dancefloor-focused jam. The rest of Myrryrs’ free edit EP can be streamed and downloaded after the jump.

Check Out a New Beat Tape from Knxwledge

Fresh off the release of his 53-track double-cassette for Stones Throw—from which we recently shared a free download—unceasingly prolific beatmaker Knxwledge (a.k.a. Glen Boothe) has added yet another beat tape to his ever-expanding catalog. The 8-track Hexual.Sealings.Prt.5 sees the LA resident continuing to experiment with his mellow, soul- and hip-hop-focused sound, flipping loads of samples—including a hazy, stripped-down rendition of Justin Timberlake’s “Suit & Tie” single. The entirety of Knwledge’s new offering can be streamed below.

Fatima Announces New Single for Eglo

Eglo‘s resident soul-brimming vocalist, Fatima, will drop a new 12″ next month for her Computer Jay-produced “Circle” single. The two-track effort sees a strong tie between Los Angeles and London, with SaRa member Shafiq Husayn featuring on the a-side and Stones Throw affiliate Oh No producing the record’s b-side cut, “Technology.” Fatima’s new record will drop digitally on August 19, but will be available in vinyl form—which will include a 10-minute “live” version of “Redlight,” a Floating Points collaboration which first appeared on the singer’s Follow You EP—starting August 5. The single’s artwork and a radio-rip of “Circle” are included below.

Download a Summer Mix from Matthewdavid

LA beatmaker and Leaving Records head honcho Matthewdavid just recently dropped his ambient Mindflight cassette, and has now followed it up with another dose of prickly textures and deep drones in the form of his latest mixtape. Featuring a few unreleased tracks from the likes of Dntel, The Cyclist, and MNDSGN, as well as some bits from an “unlabeled world-fusion cassette,” the 20-minute collage finds the producer further exploring his penchant for tape-saturated sounds and unearthing homegrown beats that seem plucked from a thrift shop in outer space. Matthewdavid’s 2013 LR Summer Mix can be downloaded here and streamed below, where a handful of his upcoming tour dates can also be found.

Video: Krystal Klear ft. Jenna G “Addiction”

Manchester-based producer Krystal Klear has just shared a video for his latest single for Rinse, “Addiction,” on which he enlists the talents of soulful vocalist Jenna G. The lighthearted clip keeps in line with the track’s unabashed disco influences, but largely focuses on a more modern, relatable premise—namely, being visibly seduced in public by someone’s headphones. And while the resulting dance moves look strangely out of place to onlookers, Krystal Klear’s feel-good tune at least gives us the feeling that the protagonist is enjoying every minute of it.

Slugabed “OOF WOW!”*Donky Pitch*

Brighton club night and record label Donky Pitch has a bit of a habit of giving away free music, and that looks set to continue with the announcement of its free, 18-track compilation, We Didn’t Think We’d Make It This Far, Vol. 1. Intended as a summation of the label’s output to date, the offering features a song from each of the first 10 Donky Pitch releases, as well eight exclusives. Featured here, Slugabed‘s “OOF WOW!” is one of the never-before-heard tunes, and it showcases the UK producer’s shimmering, beat-centric sensibilities with bright melodies and cascading snares. The rest of We Didn’t Think We’d Make It This Far, Vol. 1 can be streamed in full or downloaded via the Bandcamp player embeded after the jump.

Jimmy Edgar’s Ultramajic Label Readies New Release Series

Not long after dropping his own Hot Inside EP, Berlin-based DJ/producer Jimmy Edgar is ready to launch a new series of releases for his recently inauguratedUltramajic imprint. Edgar came up with the idea for Metaphysix with long-time creative partner Pilar Zeta, and in talking about its concept, says, “Reality is based upon thought systems, and this is the core of music and vibration. [For] each chapter of the series, we will give these ideas to the artists for them to interpret in any way they choose.” The first installment is a four-song split EP which centers around the theme of “Mentalism.” The a-side features two tracks by the elusive Aden that flirt with dub-techno textures and footwork-influenced vocal samples, while the b-side is credited to Creepy Autograph, a collection of Detroit producers who deal with a kind of jacking dancefloor funk not far from Edgar’s own work. The EP will be released in vinyl and digital forms on September 23, and can be previewed below.
