MA1 to Drop New EP via Deep Teknologi; Preview it Now

Rinse FM compatriot and London-based DJ/producer MA1 has announced he will team up with T.William’s and S.E.F’s Deep Teknologi label to release his next EP. The forthcoming Elektron EP features four tunes from the artist, and is said to boast the sound of “european-tinged house [while still retaining] the urgency of current sounds emanating from London.” You can preview each of the cuts from MA1’s new record before it drops, below.

Rejuvenated Classic Label Preps New Releases, Plots Global Tour; Check Out a New Mix from Luke Solomon

Earlier this year, house veterans Luke Solomon and Derrick Carter announced the relaunch of their storied Classic imprint, an effort that began with the reissue of the label’s back catalog. Now, the duo has begun to offer brand-new music once again. First up was this month’s Interceptor EP from Solomon himself. Before the end of the year, Classic will also be dropping Solomon’s collaboration with Chris Duckenfeld (the “acid-inspired” Milk & Cookies EP), remixes of DJ Ali’s “You Don’t Know” by Matt Tolfrey and Roy Davis Jr’s “About Love” by Ashley Beedle and Yam Who?, as well as EPs from JT Donaldson & Tim Kvasnosky, Marc Ashken, and The Crooked Man.

To celebrate all this activity, Solomon and Carter have put together a series of parties they’ve dubbed the Classic Is Your Friend Tour, which will be making various stops around Europe between October and January. Solomon has also put together a special Classic Is Your Friend mixtape, which you can find below along with the complete tracklist and list of tour dates.

Moon Bounce “Gone (feat. Steffaloo)”

Philadelphia-based “actor, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer” Corey Regensburg (a.k.a. Moon Bounce) is apparently a very busy kid. The 22-year-old artist somehow found the time to drop his debut EP, Darn Your Best Frock, about five months ago, and he’s already sharing new tunes with the world, including “Gone (feat. Steffaloo).” The track holds true to the choppy, frantic, Prefuse 73-style production of Moon Bounce’s earlier work, but utilizes a bit of extra reverb and heavy compression to further liven up his already bubbly music.

Jeff Mills to Release Score for ‘Fantastic Voyage’

Techno veteran Jeff Mills will continue with his penchant for penning unofficial soundtracks to classic sci-fi flicks when he releases Fantastic Voyage, a 22-track LP based on the 1966 film. On his forthcoming record, the DJ/producer says, “Early on in the production, it became apparent to me that what this film really needed was a sound scheme that is as unorthodox as outer space and as organic as the color palette in the seas and oceans of our planet earth.” The double-disc album will drop via Mills’ own Axis label next month, but you can check out the artwork and tracklist before then, below. Toro Y Moi “All Alone (M A N I K Edit)”

Admittedly, XLR8R lost some interest in Toro Y Moi (pictured above) when Chaz Bundick decided to take his project out of the bedroom and create something resembling the output of an actual band. (How dare he!) Nevertheless, we’re digging this edit put together by NYC DJ/producer M A N I K, who has taken Bundick’s “All Alone,” a track from the just-released Freaking Out EP, and spruced it up for the dancefloor. Stretching out the original song’s R&B vibes, M A N I K has put a bouncy, filter-disco spin on the tune, creating something that sounds like Daft Punk relaxing by the pool at a summertime BBQ.

Video: Maceo Plex “Can’t Leave You”

Let’s start with the bad news. The new Maceo Plex video is another one of those found-footage collages that we’ve all seen a million times in recent years. The good news is that this one stars an octopus and mixes in vintage clips of a scientist and some pin-up girls. The even better news is that “Can’t Leave You,” taken from his recently released Sweating Tears EP, is still an incredibly potent piece of bouncy tech-house. Luckily for Maceo Plex, that’s not going to change, no matter how much found footage is used in the video.

Grab a Free Spoek Mathambo EP

Spoek Mathambo is a generous producer. Last June, the Sub Pop-signed South African producer and MC offered up “Put Some Red on It” as a free download. Now, he’s back with the entire EP. Recorded in collaboration with CHLLNGR and Zach Hill, Put Some Red on It features three original productions alongside remixes by Machinedrum, Shabazz Palaces, and Telepathe. The EP is out now; to get a copy, enter your email address in the widget below. (via FADER)

Untold to Drop New 12″ via Clone

Hemlock Recordings label head and London bass experimentalist Jack Dunning (a.k.a. Untold) will soon add the Clone label to the lengthy list of imprints with which he’s released his forward-thinking dance music. The Rotterdam-based record hub will soon drop Dunning’s two-track 12″, “Little Things Like That” b/w “Bachelor’s Delight,” as part of its Clone Basement Series. No official release date has been set, but we imagine it will be available some time before the end of the year.

International Feel Celebrates Second Anniversary by Releasing iOS Application

Uruguayan tastemaker label International Feel is celebrating its two-year anniversary in a unique fashion: by releasing an iOS application. Straightforwardly titled Remiix International Feel, the app draws from Brian Eno’s concept of generative music to create an interactive remix experience. Users are able to select and mix quantized basslines, melodies, and rhythms from six International Feel tracks: Hungry Ghost’s “Illuminations,” Bubble Club’s “Goddess,” Rocha’s “Hands of Love,” Locussolus’ “Next To You,” Coyote’s “Moving,” and Locussolus’ “I Want It.” The fully mixable tracks are also complimented by a tweakable studio-grade plate-reverb and a simulated rotating Leslie speaker cabinet. The application is out now; for more information check out the Remiix International Feel’s App Store page.

Check Out This 100% Silk Mixtape

We just can’t get enough of 100% Silk. Though it’s been under a year since Amanda Brown (of Pocahaunted/LA Vampires fame) started the Not Not Fun sub-label, the imprint has been fast in putting out quality releases by XLR8R-approved artists (check out this recent feature with Ital and Magic Touch). Now, Brown has submitted a mixtape to Wow Magazine that neatly captures the essence of the label’s sound, moving carefully through ambient, piano house, straight-ahead disco, filter house, and more hazy dance beats. You can listen to the mix here, and find the tracklist below.

1. I Can Feel the Heat – Magic Touch
2. What?? – Pharoahs
3. High Reflection – Octo Octa
4. Wet Devil – Sfv Acid
5. Milk N Honey – Sir Stephen
6. Queens – Ital
7. Shadow Disco – Innergaze
8. Kyrie Eleison – Maria Minerva
