Premiere: Hear a Slice of Dubby Melancholia From Laylla Dane

Later this month, All Inn Records will return for its second release of 2018, Laylla Dane‘s debut EP, Tropical Dar

Tropical Dar solidifies Laylla Dane’s sonic signature with three originals and an edit by All Inn label head Pola. Keen readers of XLR8R may have noticed the EP’s title track in Laylla Dane’s XLR8R podcast, appearing at the 40-minute mark of the mix. Musically, the EP falls in line with the groove-laced melancholia presented on her podcast, from acid house to more beat-driven outings.

In support of the release, All Inn has offered up a full stream of the EP’s title track, available via the player below.

Dauwd Returns to Technicolour Recordings

Dauwd is set to return to Ninja Tune‘s Technicolour Recordings with the Theory of Colours—Versions EP.

The four-track release contains remixes/reworks of various singles from his debut album Theory of Colours, which was released last summer via Ninja Tune.

The Berlin-based artist has previously released on Ghostly International and Kompakt. Dauwd also makes up one-third of the Berlin collective, party, and radio show African Acid Is The Future alongside fellow producers Rouge Mécanique / WolfOnAcid and MaryIsOnAcid. The collective also now have a permanent show on WorldWide FM.

The EP opens with a piano rework of “Analogische Memories,” recorded at his studio in Berlin and the result of countless hours work—“it took some time, as I had to learn to play piano,” Dauwd explains. We’re told that it builds on the core of the original track with the introduction of swirling improvised keys and subtle percussion.

Fellow producer and African Acid Is The Future partner Romain Azzaro (a.k.a Rouge Mécanique) provides two remixes of “Murmure” (one “Walking”, the other “Running”). Finally, Ukrainian music producer and Leleka label boss Vakula provides a remix of “Macadam Therapy.”

Following a string of releases on La Vie En Rose Records, Conspiracy Records, and Trojan House Recordings, the release of “Steady Drip” marks a move to London, with Harrison basing himself in the city to work on releases over the summer months. With a bouncy groove at its core, “Steady Drip” is a smooth-as-silk cut ripe for the floor, flowing through floating pads and faint melodies across its seven-minute run.

Mad Zach “Shadow Figures”

Mad Zach’s Out of Body EP is his first release with Alpha Pup Records

Based in Berlin, Mad Zach is a San Francisco native and festival favorite known for his productions and expertise in sound design. His craftsmanship is highlighted through his innovative high-definition bass music that pulls from many different influences and sources of inspiration.

We’re told that the EP fuses inspiration from Berlin’s techno world with a background in West Coast bass. It features four intense tracks balanced on the edge between off-kilter beats and experimental tones. “The musical idea behind this was to implement some of the strange loop concepts from my psychedelic explorations with the hypnotic techno themes and bass-heavy 160 grooves that I’m really inspired by. I wanted to create something that could be hypnotic and at times intense while remaining sexy and booty maneuvering.”

The Out of Body EP is out now via Alpha Pup on digital formats worldwide, with a limited edition vinyl print available for pre-order. In support of the EP, you can download Shadow Figures in full via the player below—or here for EU readers due to temporary GDPR restrictions.

Premiere: Hear a Trippy Remix From Red Axes

Christophe Monier will release his newest single under his leftfield techno and acid house project The Micronauts on Friday, June 22.

Following on from last summer’s 12” reissue of The Micronauts’ classic 1995 debut “Get Funky Get Down,” which also featured Daft Punk’s first ever remix, the new single, titled “Acid Party,” represents the lead track from Monier’s forthcoming studio album and arrives packaged with a radio edit and remixes from Red Axes, Luca Agnelli, and Luigi Rocca. Musically, the new single presents a swirling nine-minute slice of floor-ready techno built from mind-bending acid lines and melted samples. On the remix front, Red Axes provide a typically tripped-out interpretation, while Luca Agnelli stays true to the original’s name with a deep acid workout. To close out the release, 303Lovers co-founder Luigi Rocca delivers a rolling big-room workout ripe for the dancefloor.

In support of the release, the label has offered up a full stream of Red Axes’ remix, available via the player below.

Ga-Nu “Wandering Soul” (Ink Project Remix)

Earlier this month, Blind Colour released a remix package for Philadelphia-based vocalist and producer Ga-Nu‘s Wandering Soul EP.

The package featured two gorgeous originals from Ga-NU (“Wandering Soul” and “Waiting For You”), alongside remixes of the EP’s title track from Ink Project, Nate Connelly, and Turtle. Inspired by artists such as Animal Collective, James Blake, and Bon Iver, Ga-Nu’s music is soothing and achingly beautiful electronic soul that looks to express, as the label explains, “the beauty and pain of her struggles, capturing moments, emotions and vocal contemplations.”

The remixes on the EP offer inspired interpretations of her touching originals, ranging from Ink Project’s textural and atmospheric outing to Nate Connely’s warped ambience and Turtle’s deeper 4×4 offering.

In support of the release, Blind Colour has offered up Ink Project’s remix as today’s XLR8R download, available via the player below.

You can pick up the EP here, with streams of all cuts below.
