Heart People ‘Voices’ (Andrew Weatherall Remix)

Heart People, the creative Australian duo formed by Ryan Grieve (Canyons) and visual artist and model Rachel Rutt, recently announced a debut six-track EP, titled Homecoming. The EP will be released through Hole in The Sky Records on May 26.

The second track to be streamed from the EP is title track ‘Homecoming,” which is streamable below, alongside the video for “Voices.”

The EP is also being released with a special remix version of each track. The remixers were chosen as a way to help explain the origins, influences, and feelings the duo try to get across in their music as well as showing who they listen to and feel are contributing something special to music at the moment. The remixers include the legendary Andrew Weatherall, Tolouse Low Trax, Leo James, MR TC, and Paul Jextra.

Ahead of the EP’s May 26 release, Andrew Weatherall’s rework of “Voices” is available to download via the WeTransfer button below.

Scarper ‘The Drift’

Over the years, London-based producer Steve Young (a.k.a. Scarper) has popped up in XLR8R‘s mp3 section a couple of times, dazzling our readers with his idiosyncratic tunes whilst winning over fans at the top of the game—artists such as Laurent Garnier, DJ Food, Daddy G, Mixmaster Morris, and Plaid.

Towards the end of last month, Young released Warmer Squares, his debut full-length, on Plexus Records. Following lead single, “Lacuna,” which was released at the end of 2016 alongside a stunning video courtesy of rising motion-graphics star Letty Fox, the album presents a nostalgic, feel-good trip of varying styles and textures, from UK rave to ambient-techno and more beat-driven outings.

In support of the release, which can be purchased here, Scarper has once again offered up a cut for our downloads section, this time the magically floating cut “The Drift,” available via WeTransfer below along with the video for “Lacuna.”

Watch an Excerpt of a Jaw-Dropping Installation from Tarik Barri

Matter of Perspectives is the new audiovisual installation from Dutch audiovisual artist Tarik Barri. The installation was developed in an artistic residency under the Scale Travels program, with artistic direction and production by gnration and scientific supervision by the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory—the Scale Travels program seeks to promote the creation of new audiovisual works inspired by the state of the art research on nanotechnology developed at INL.

The installation, which runs now through June 17 at INl gallery at gnration, looks to visualize the work of the INL, as Tarik explains:

“I’m very thankful for the Scale Travels program for offering me an opportunity to learn in detail about INL’s pioneering work. I’m very much looking forward to expressing through algorithmic art the scientific beauty of the invisible microscopic universes they operate in. Universes with laws and structures which seem alien to our regular daily understanding of life, but which are simultaneously completely fundamental to who we are and all that surrounds us.”

You can watch an excerpt of the piece below.

Premiere: Hear a New Track from Chris Carrier’s Mr. Georget Alias

Today, Franck Roger will return to his Home Invasion imprint with HI015.

Comprised of two new solo cuts and a remix from Chris Carrier under his Mr. Georget moniker, the EP—which follows outings on Dj Deep’s Deeply Rooted, Innervisions, and Planet E—serves as the start of a new project for Roger in which he will welcome a series of guest producers to the imprint to deliver a remix of their favorite label track on each forthcoming release, with this EP featuring fellow French house stalwart Chris Carrier.

The tracks on HI015 range from Roger’s gritty, groove-led opening cut, “809,” to “Bugz,” a trippy MPC workout and Carrier’s Mr. Georget remix of “Yabba,” which, in true Carrier style, employs intricate percussion patterns and deep, hypnotic synth lines.

In support of today’s release, which can be grabbed here, you can stream the Mr. Georget remix in full via the player below.

Download a New Mix from Randomer

Rohan Walder (a.k.a. Randomer) has recorded a new mix exclusively for XLR8R in advance of his performance at this year’s Nuits Sonores 2017 festival.

Hailing from North London, Randomer is no stranger to the XLR8R channels, having recorded a podcast back in 2014. As a producer, he has been nothing short of prolific: across a six-year career, he’s produced four EPs for Untold’s Hemlock Recordings, released records for Hessle Audio, Numbers, and Clone. More recently, he’s been cherrypicked by Ron Morelli’s L.I.E.S for two releases, and a lo-fi workout on its sublabel Russian Torrent Versions. As a DJ, Randomer is one of the UK’s finest, capable of effortlessly stitching together modern bass with classic techno and less esoteric 4/4 rhythms. Grab the below mix for a case in point.

The mix also includes the track “Smokin” from his next release on L.I.E.S being released on May 15th

Randomer will be performing at next month’s Nuit Sonores festival, which features a long list of stellar artists, both DJ and live, including The Chemical Brothers, Fatima Yamaha, Helena Hauff, Talaboman, a back-to-back set by the French duo of François X and Bambounou, Moscoman, KiNK, André Brattan, and Floating Points. Profusion ‘Messages’

Where Do I Begin? is the debut album by Profusion, the collaborative project between K15 and Emeson.

The former, real name Kieron Ifil, is the genre-hopping artist that dropped the much-lauded house EP, Insecurities, on Kyle Hall’s Wild Oats label in 2014, but just as seamlessly has delved into jazz, soul, hip-hop and techno. Emeson, like his newly established creative partner, has worked across a variety of genres and art forms. He is also a successful actor, having appeared in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and various Marvel comic adaptations to name a few.

Ahead of the album’s June 9 release on First Word Records, “Messages” is available to download via the WeTransfer button below.
