Dadub, a project founded in Italy in 2008 by Daniele Antezza, is dedicated to combining sound design and audio synthesis experimentation with the aesthetic and musical heritage of bass music and dub.
Following the first period of activity in the copyleft/creative commons community with the label A Quiet Bump, in 2009 Daniele moved to Berlin where he began a collaboration with Giovanni Conti. They founded Artefacts Mastering Studio and, under the aegis of Dadub, collaborated with the groundbreaking label StroboscopicArtefacts, profoundly influencing the label aesthetics and musical output. Their collaboration reached its peak in 2013 with the release of You Are Eternity, their debut album as Dadub that brought much acclaim.
In the past three years, Daniele and Giovanni shifted their focus onto individual projects, until 2017 when Daniele left Artefacts Mastering and founded his own production and mastering studio, the brand new Dadub Studio. Moreover, staying true to the collaborative nature which has always characterized the project, Dadub is being re-launched as a collaborative venture between Daniele and Marco Donnarumma, renowned Berlin-based sound artist, performer, and producer, previously appearing as Kuoyah with the labels Frijsfo Beats and Combat Recordings.
Inspired by contemporary philosophy, science fiction, sound design and the material forces of low-frequency sounds, Daniele and Marco have been evolving the signature Dadub sound into what they call “Post-Apocalyptic Dub.” Working together for over a year now, they have accumulated three yet-to-be-released EPs and are preparing a new live set. To celebrate the new incarnation of Dadub, they decided to offer for free the first unreleased Dadub track after four years of absence from the scene. Entitled “Rain On The Earth,” the track offers (more than) a glimpse of what is to be expected by the forward-thinking duo, and is available as a free download below.

On April 21, Cassius Select will drop his latest EP, 90/HERD, on Matthew Herbert‘s Accidental Jnr.
Over the last few years, Cassius Select has crafted his own intriguing brand of drum-led club tunes—the music he makes seems to defy classification, which is only ever a good thing. He’s also a regular on our pages, the most recent time being a slot in our Top 10 Rising Australian Producers feature. His latest outing on Accidental follows much in the same vein, deconstructing regular club styles and fitting them to wonky and skewed frameworks with confounding, swinging rhythms.
As a precursor to the EP, the now Toronto native has put together a near-hour-long mix of equally bent tracks, from tribalistic drum workouts to tense atmospheric techno, smoky grime, and tripped-out synth outings.
You can download the mix via WeTransfer below, with 90/HERD available to pre-order here.

Sacred Ground Festival, the intimate summer event curated by RY X and Frank Wiedemann of Innervisions, has announced the first details surrounding the lineup for their third edition, which is again set to take place at a 100-year old farm in the Uckermark region of Germany.
Sacred Ground’s organizers, starting today, will gradually reveal the full program of music, with a new artist announced every few days. The first artist announced for the event is SCHWARZMANN, the live improvisation-oriented project from Innervisions core members Henrik Schwarz and Frank Wiedemann.
Stay tuned for the rest of the Sacred Ground artist announcements over the coming days. More information and tickets to the festival can be found here.

Since he first debuted on XLR8R back in 2011, Victor Ferreira (a.k.a. Sun Glitters) has been a regular fixture in our downloads section. As his production moniker suggests, Ferreira makes sun-kissed tunes that shimmer.
His new single, “Together,” pulled from his forthcoming album, It Will Be Forever, continues that trend, with a groove-led beat thrown in for good measure. With its sample of Charlie Chaplin’s moving speech from The Great Dictator, the single couldn’t be more timely, driving home a message of unity and togetherness.
The forthcoming album “reflects the cautious anticipation many of us feel today in the digital age: a sense of something bigger looming.” Across its 11 tracks, the album “depicts a version of the ‘7 stages of grief,’ with the conclusion being the most poignant as it closes with a wonder and zest for life that the author hopes to impart on us.”
You can pre-order It Will Be Forever ahead of its May 26 release, with “Together” available as a free download via WeTransfer below, along with the single’s video.
The single also drops with a b-side, which can be grabbed from here.

AudioThing has just released an affordable emulation of the Roland RE 201 Space Echo, an iconic tape echo introduced in 1974.
In its latest video, Point Blank tasks resident plugin test-dummy JC Concato to put it through its paces, making it the Plugin of the Week for this week. Just like the original unit, Outer Space features an echo section with three playback heads and a spring reverb tank. AudioThing has modeled three different tape frequency responses and saturations, along with all the analog imperfections of tape recording and playback. The plugin has also modeled the ballistic response of the delay rate which can create eerie pitch shifts, one of the classic tape echo-based sound effects.
You can watch the video in full via the player below, with more on Point Blank and its course here.
