Pangaea, Mike Parker, and Tensal Remix Tensal

Pangaea, Mike Parker, and Tensal have remixed Tensal’s Opposite Inertia EP that came out on Kynant Records last year.

One the most distinctive artists in techno, Mike Parker, combines his signature, modulated bassline and sharp claps with the off-kilter rhythm of “Inertia 1,” before Tensal’s remake of “Inertia 2.” Finally, Pangaea, of Hessle Audio, switches up the broken rhythm of “Inertia 3” and adds the kind of touches that make his records stand out.

Tracklisting:

01. Inertia 1 (Mike Parker Remix)
02. Inertia 2 (Tensal Remake)
03. Inertia 3 (Pangaea Remix)

Extra Inertia EP is scheduled for March 24 release, with clips streamable below.

Talaboman Shares New Track

John Talabot and Axel Boman (a.k.a. Talaboman) have shared a track from their upcoming The Night Land album on R&S Records.

It’s been over two years since Talaboman’s Sideral EP arrived on Hivern Discs and Studio Barnhus. It was John Talabot and Axel Boman’s collaborative debut and marked a new sound for the pair, consisting of rich synth motifs and vivid, afro-infused drum programming.

Now, the pair returns with The Night Land. Nothing has really changed since their first release, apart from the fact that this time round they produced (in their own words) an “absurd amount of music.” Writing sessions spread out across studios in Barcelona, Stockholm, and Gothenburg have given space to nascent ideas, where the two have been able to mature their sound.

Tracklisting

01. Midnattssol
02. Safe Changes
03. Samsa
04. Six Million Ways
05. Loser’s Hymn
06. Brutal Chugga-Chugga
07. The Ghosts Hood
08. Dins El Llit

The Night Land is scheduled for March 3 release, with “Safe Changes” streamable in full below.

Samuel Rohrer Preps New Album

Samuel Rohrer, the multi-faceted forward-thinking percussionist and producer behind the arjunamusic label, the AMBIQ trio, and a wealth of other musical projects, will soon release a new LP, entitled Range of Regularity, as a double vinyl set.

The LP is constructed almost entirely upon electronically-treated recordings of acoustic instrumentation, with a bare minimum of synthesizer voicing. The press release describes it as one of “ultra-modern improvisational music,” revealing Rohrer’s well known “percussion-driven” musical techniques.

The album will be followed by two remix EPs, including remixes by Ricardo Villalobos, Vilod, and Burnt Friedman.

Tracklisting:

01. Microcosmoism
02. Lenina
03. Nimbus
04. Sunclue
05. War on Consciousness
06. Uncertain Grace

Ahead of the album’s April 21 release via arjunamusic, two album teasers are streamable below.

Stream a Cut from Justin Carter’s Forthcoming Album

Justin Carter, who is one-half of popular New York party and record label Mister Saturday Night alongside Emon Harkin, is set to drop his new album, The Leaves Fall on February 24.

The album finds the house music mainstay stepping away from the club with an album that sits comfortably in the realm of pop music. Written over five years with a focus on his intimate vocals, The Leaves Fall is at once delicate, powerful, and intensely personal. The album also features some outstanding guests, including Jason Lindner, who was the pianist on David Bowie’s Blackstar; cello from Archie Pelago’s Greg Heffernan; and programming by LIES and Trilogy Tapes producer Marcos Cabral.

The eight tracks on the album feature warm guitar work, vibraphones, and organs, with Carter sprinkling in modern production flourishes. The album finds its context in the new event series created by Carter and Harkin called Planetarium, a long-form event series with live music sprinkled amongst hours of records.

The Leaves Fall can be pre-ordered here ahead of its February 24 release date, with album cut “With The Old Breed” streaming in full via the player below.

Parabel is a Stockholm-based booking agency and label with a roster of artists that includes, among others, Joel Mull, The Persuader, Nima Khak, Exos, Inter Gritty, and Patrick Siech.

Parabel’s label arm kicked off in 2015 with Siech’s Viadukt EP and has kept a steady release rate since with six releases now in its catalog. For its seventh release, Parabel once again turns to Siech for Eter, a deep and trippy four-track EP. The tracks are moody and musically rich, techno weapons that sit at the darker end of the spectrum.

Circula ‘Nothing Can Compare’

With 10 Bandcamp VAs now under its belt, UK-based DIY musical collective Loose Lips will release its first solo EP, Circula‘s Thought Reel.

The intricately produced release, which runs the gamut from dub to spoken word and electronica, finds the label returning to the artist that evidently kicked off the label’s first VA. Thought Reel is a conceptual collection of thought-provoking cuts and feelings, as explained by Circula:

‘Welcome to the thought reel. It is, like everything, the collection and ultimate regurgitation of ideas, sounds, and feelings. As a listener, you are welcome to see a thread and a direction through the music, or not. You will also meet, probably for the first time, a guy called Zaphod. It is a privilege to have him involved with this EP and hopefully it will be the first of many collaborations with him.’

Thought Reel is available via the Loose Lips Bandcamp page as a limited edition cassette and digital EP. To celebrate the release, the collective have offered up a bonus cut titled “Nothing Can Compare” as a free download via WeTransfer below.

Nothing Can Compare

Premiere: Hear a Track from Private Persons’ Second Release

Private Persons returns with its second release from the Ukraine-based artist Youngg P.

The four tracks on the EP were written in 2014 during mass turmoil in Kiev and in turn share a deep, moody aesthetic. The testing times and the tracks on Carpathian Rave signal a creative period for Youngg P, who describes the release’s focus below:

“I and millions of my countrymen had very mixed feelings and everyone was on the verge of a nervous breakdown because of the terrible flow of information. Accordingly, almost all of the tracks on the EP have a minor mood, such as “WAR,” which generally resembles a military marching. In general, it is such a small soundtrack about these really dark days in my country. It tells about the utter confusion and frustration, fear and hatred.”

Carpathian Rave can be purchased now via Lobster Theremin’s new store, with “WAR,” the EP’s powerful opening cut, streaming in full via the player below, along with snippets of all four cuts.
