A NBC Chicago report confirms that an autopsy has shown juke/footwork pioneer DJ Rashad‘s cause of death to have been a drug overdose.

The artist born Rashad Harden passed away unexpectedly in April, shaking the electronic music community and ushering in an outpouring of adoration for his work from a large range of past collaborators as well as an international collection of DJs, producers, and fans. Though it was suspected at the time, NBC Chicago has now confirmed that drugs were involved in Harden’s untimely death, reporting that “toxicological tests found that Rashad [Harden] died of heroin, cocaine, and alprazolam intoxication, and his death was ruled an accident, according to a spokesman for the medical examiner’s office.” The site’s full report can be read here.

After revealing details of an upcoming 7″ under the name Superstructure earlier this week, veteran Michigan producer Todd Osborn has announced plans to issue a new EP under his given name via Lexington, Kentucky’s growing Acoustic Division label. Osborn’s upcoming Step Off EP will mark his second effort for the imprint, having released the Back to Here EP via the label last year.

When describing the outing, a press release seems torn between classifying Osborn’s latest productions as “deep acid boogie” or “autumnal Detroit cuts.” Fortunately, Acoustic Division has passed along snippets for Step Off‘s three cuts (streaming below) to give us a better idea of what to expect when the record lands on September 2.

Having released the debut full-length from Throwing Snow earlier this year, and with one on the way from Call Super, the fast-growing Houndstooth label has announced it will issue the debut LP from London producer Second Storey (formerly known as Al Tourettes) in October. On the forthcoming Double Divide LP, the artist born Alec Storey is said to present tracks that are “vastly complex, intricately arranged, and inspired by love and emotion.” Furthermore, Storey tells Resident Advisor that his LP will offer music that is “more texturally rich, melodically focused, and expansive” than his previous work as Al Tourettes, going on to say that he approached the album format “as a chance to experiment fully with seeing how far I could take things… I tried to do things I’d never done before both in terms of structure, tempo, melodic content, and depth of sound.”

Second Storey’s 10-track debut full-length, Double Divide, will see its release on October 6. In the meantime, the record’s artwork and tracklist have been included below along with a stream of LP cut “Shaman Champagne,” which will also see a release as its own single backed with remixes from Perc and Aden on August 18.

Having combined forces in the past—first for Sound Pellegrino in 2011 and again late last year—Night Slugs co-founder Bok Bok and longstanding Amsterdam-based producer/DJ Tom Trago have announced plans to issue the collaborative Night Voyage Tool Kit II mini-album next month. The upcoming record is a continuation of the pair’s previous collaborative efforts, its title referencing Bok Bok’s and Trago’s debut together, Night Voyage Tool Kit, while four tracks from their previous vinyl-only outings are set to be included on the forthcoming mini-album alongside two versions of new production “Need This.”

With its six tracks described as “highly textured house music inspired by the classics,” Bok Bok’s and Tom Trago’s Night Voyage Tool Kit II will see an official release on September 9 via Night Voyage, a “pop-up label dedicated to the duo’s ongoing collaborations.” In the meantime, the record’s artwork and full tracklist have been included below.

Veteran DJ/producer Damon Kirkham (a.k.a. Jon Convex) is preparing for his first solo release of 2014, the electro-influenced “Force” b/w “Snake.” Set to appear via Parisian label Zone later in the month, the record’s b-side cut is now streaming in full. Utilising the deft drum programming and dark textures Convex honed during his time as one half of innovative UK duo Instra:mental, this recent material finds him exploring the influence of everything from “The Alan Parsons Project and Autechre to the film scores of Vangelis and John Carpenter that Kirkham immersed himself in as a child.”

A full stream of “Snake” can be heard below before Convex’s upcoming single lands on August 25. Furthermore, the time-tested producer also dropped off a new remix for our Downloads section earlier this week, which can be grabbed here.

Brooklyn producer and recent XLR8R podcast contributor William T. Burnett (a.k.a. Wille Burns, amongst a number of other aliases) appears set to maintain his prolific pace, revealing plans to return to DJ Haus’ Unknown to the Unknown/Hot Haus label next month with the I Wanna Love You EP. Described as “four slow-swung house jackers,” the EP’s efforts appear to find Burnett continuing to use his digging prowess and hardware proficiency to piece together sample-led, drum machine-laden house tracks.

Officially out on September 22, lengthy previews for each cut on the forthcoming I Wanna Love You EP can be streamed below.

New York-based producer Gunnar Haslam is set to inaugurate a new series from long-running Dutch label Delsin this fall with the Ataxia No Logos EP. The four-track release will be the first in the imprint’s Cameron Series, and finds the producer shifting from “deep techno with urgent drums and eerie, haunting, glass-tinkling sounds” toward the more cerebral sounds of “deep house chords and drums peppered with loose tin-pot percussion.” It follows an impressive year for the artist, who has already appeared on both the Mister Saturday Night and L.I.E.S. imprints, with this most recent effort due out on September 8.
