Following a recent trip to New York and, more specifically, to Brooklyn thrift shop/record store The Thing, Bristol mainstay Appleblim has put together a new 80-minute mix. “It’s the result of a good six or seven hours of digging over three days,” Appleblim tells London nightclub Fabric, who is hosting the mix on its site. “It was so dusty and moldy, dirty and funky [at The Thing], I now realize why I see pictures of true crate diggers with dust masks on, as I have been suffering from a very nasty cough ever since I got back from the trip,” he continues.

Consisting mostly of vintage hip-hop and rare disco and funk cuts, Appleblim’s full NY Crate Digging Mix can be streamed and download below before he hits Fabric’s Room One tomorrow night. Brothers and Sisters, the upcoming compilation from Brooklyn party-turned-label—and not to mention recent XLR8Rpodcast contributors—Mister Saturday Night will see its release later this month. Before the comprehensive collection officially drops, London trio Dark Sky has shared a full stream of a new piano-led production exclusive to the forthcoming record.

The five-minute “Clear” track finds Dark Sky (who recently announced a upcoming debut LP for Modeselektor’s Monkeytown imprint) delving into the jazzier side of its production abilities, placing rich chords and roomy percussion atop a dense, mellow shuffle. “Clear” can be streamed in full below before it appears alongside other exclusive cuts from Anthony Naples, Archie Pelago, Gunnar Haslam, and others when Brothers and Sisters drops on June 23. Furthermore, Mister Saturday Night has also unveiled a preview stream of the compilation, which can currently be streamed here.

The venerable Warp label celebrates 25 years of releasing quality electronic music this year, a milestone the imprint plans to mark with an amibitous event series. Simply deemed Warp 25, the 25th anniversary celebration will take place in Kraków, Poland and will find the longstanding label collaborating with Polish collective Sacrum Profanum. First, on September 14, Warp veteran Squarepusher will perform an “all-new live show” in collaboration with European chamber ensemble Sinfonietta Cracovia, who will also perform music by Iannis Xenakis and other modern composers. A few days later on September 19, the London Sinfonietta ensemble will perform Warp Works and 20th Century Masters, reinterpreting songs from Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, Mira Calix, Steve Reich, and others.

Finally, Warp 25’s culminating event will take place on September 20, bringing together key members of the label’s stable in Autechre (pictured above), Rustie, Battles, Darkstar, patten, LFO, and Hudson Mohawke to perform live at Kraków’s Forum Hotel, with additional DJ sets from Plaid and Bibio also planned as part of the celebration. Set to drop on Monday, Mumdance‘s Take Time EP is set to offer four new grime-indebted productions from the fast-ascending UK producer, who was recently featured in one of Tim and Barry’s Beat This production videos and is also set to drop a collaborative mix album with Tectonic boss Pinch in the coming weeks. In the meantime, Mumdance (real name Jack Adams) has made available a full stream of a new cut from his forthcoming record for Rinse.

Spanning just over four minutes, “The Sprawl” begins with a bed of alien textures, which are left to brew on their own until Adams introduces a series of hard-hitting, space-age percussion sounds, programmed in such a way that their off-kilter rhythms occasionally find a perfect sync. Mumdance’s latest otherworldly production can be streamed in full below before his Take Time EP lands on June 16.

Baltimore-based house icon Karizma has shared details for the next in a long history of releases for London-based label R2. Due out next month, Beats & Bobs Vol.1 is the first in “a new series of raw beats and basement edits” from the DJ/producer, who has been a stalwart in and outside of Baltimore’s club scene for over 20 years. The three tracks on this most recent issue (posted below along with artwork) run from explosive grooves to dub reworks from his Kaytronik alter-ego and a hip-hop mash-up, and the full EP is slated for official release on July 21.

UK producer Kevin Martin has announced plans to return to the Ninja Tune label with Angels & Devils, his first full-length record as The Bug since 2008’s lauded London Zoo LP. Set to drop in August, Angels & Devils finds Martin (who was featured on an XLR8Rcover story around the time his last album as The Bug landed) looking to collaborators to help see the record’s 12 productions through with copeland, Gonjasufi, Warrior Queen, Grouper’s Liz Harris, Flowdan, Miss Red, Roll Deep’s Manga, Justin Broadrick of Godflesh, and Death Grips all featured throughout.

“The record was an exploration of opposites,” Martin tells Resident Advisor in a recent interview, “It was consciously linked to themes of escape and damnation, beauty and repulsion, as it grew all the more willfully intense,” he further explains. “It was about locating heaven in hell, and spotlighting the hell in heaven. It may also have been called Angels or Devils. Using metaphors as a vehicle for emotional release was crucial.”

Angels & Devils will see its official release on August 25. In the meantime, the record’s complete tracklist (with feature information) has been included below along with full streams of LP cuts “Save Me” and “Fuck a Bitch.”

Some might argue that there are enough Sade edits already floating around–Soo Wavey duo Vin Sol and Matrixxman, for example, recently put out a couple white label reworks–but now Night Slugs co-head L-Vis 1990 has decided to take a stab at the iconic UK vocalist’s “Never Thought I’d See The Day,” continuing an affinity for ’90s-inflected R&B shown on his debut album for PMR. His sparse “Sunrise Edit” hones in on Sade’s sumptuous vocals, drops in skipping breakbeats, and shows off the refined production standards upheld in his recent single “Ballads 4D” without compromising the original’s power-sax solo, and can be downloaded for free below.
