Throughout the week, a whole lot of material gets posted here on XLR8R. And while we know—and love—that some hardcore readers will eagerly pour over every single news story, interview, podcast, video, and MP3 download that appears on the site, we also realize that for most people, it’s impossible to see everything, which means that some quality XLR8R content is likely to get missed in the hustle and bustle of everyone’s daily lives. In the interest of making it easier for everyone to catch up, every Friday we present The Lowdown, a weekly wrap-up of the top 10 tidbits from our site.

1. An intriguing new app called the 808 Cube surfaced this week. As the name suggests, it’s inspired by both the Rubik’s Cube and the Roland 808 drum machine.

2. The latest XLR8R podcast was a driving, nuanced session delivered by UK-born, Berlin-based techno producer Call Super (pictured above).

3. London producer and Night Slugs co-founder Bok Bok answered a number of queries for our 20 Questions series. Later in the week, he shared a stream of his new EP and announced a slew of summer tour dates.

4. It wouldn’t be The Lowdown without something from Four Tet, and this week saw the appearance of “One Time For,” a new track he produced for Atlanta MC Rome Fortune.

5. Next week will see the release of Danny Daze’s Silicon Remixes EP via the Ultramajic imprint, but ahead of its arrival, label boss Jimmy Edgar shared a stream of his remix of Daze’s “Beatdown” exclusively via XLR8R.

6. Shadowy LA producer Delroy Edwards offered up a rather substantial free download, giving away a 20-track collection of previously unreleased tunes called Slowed Down Funk Vol.1.

7. RBMA’s excellent beat:repeat video series kept rolling along, and one of this week’s episodes focused on Afrika Bambaataa’s classic “Looking for the Perfect Beat.”

8. Following the release of Tim Green’s new Helpless Sun EP, the UK producer gave us a remix of the title track by Visionquest’s Ryan Crosson to offer as a free download.

9. Another popular tune in our Downloads section this week was “Cherry Cola,” a dreamy, synth-heavy track from Glasgow duo MermaidS, which just released its debut EP for the Young Adults label.

10. Rising LA producer Dreams sent over the jacking “Crown Chakra,” which we posted in our Downloads section.

Adventurous R&B vocalist Kelis recently dropped her Food LP for Ninja Tune, a record whose tracks have already received remixes from Mount Kimbie, Machinedrum, and Breach. Now, Kelis’ “Rumble” has received a rework from unpredictable electronic artist Actress.

Set to be released as its own single on May 27, Actress’ remix pits the original track’s impassioned vocal performance against a ghostly array of cascading synths and off-kilter rhythmic constructions. Actress’ “Sixinium Bootleg Mix” of “Rumble” can be heard in full here, while the artwork for the upcoming 12″—which will also include an instrumental version of the rework—has been included below.

West Coast house producers Hipp-E and Halo (a.k.a. H Foundation) built a reputable catalog of releases in the early to mid ’00s, the pair’s trademark dubby style landing it on a number of international labels. Now, DJ Sneak’s Magnetic imprint has announced plans to issue a 13-track retrospective collection of the group’s output from 1999 to 2004. Entitled Passage [1999-2004], the forthcoming record will gather a number of hypnotic, soul-steeped originals from H Foundation, along with a handful of the duo’s better known remixes and a few solo tracks from Hipp-E and Halo.

Said to chronicle the group’s most influential period, the upcoming collection will come fully re-mastered and will also make many of H Foundation’s tracks available digitally for the first time. Before Passage [1999-2004] drops on June 16 via Magnetic, preview clips for the record can be streamed below, where the record’s full tracklist has also been included.

Following the release of his Phantom Vibrate EP for LuckyMe, Jacques Greene has announced plans to drop a remix collection for the effort later this month. Featuring Ghostly affiliate Fort Romeau, Stockholm producer Yung Gud, London up-and-comer Kit Grill, and Area Forty One, the Phantom Vibrate Remixes EP will deliver three new versions of Greene’s silky “No Excuse” production, and one rework of EP cut “Night Tracking”—the video for which surfaced just last week.

Slated to see an official release on May 30, Fort Romeau’s remix of “No Excuse” can be streamed in full below, where the complete tracklist for Phantom Vibrate Remixes has also been included.

M. Geddes Gengras‘ Ishi LP, forthcoming on Matthewdavid’s Leaving imprint, negotiates the liminal space between given and peripheral worlds. Gengras has spent the past seven years embedded in the L.A. experimental scene, yielding a collaboration with Sun Araw and roots reggae group The Congos among other projects, but when working on his own, his solo productions test the expressive perimeters of analog electronics. On LP cut ”Passage,” modular synth lines unspool and writhe around one another as layered washes of ambient tones rise and fall.

Ishi (named for “the last wild Indian” in North America who was introduced to the modern world in 1911) is said to “find the producer diving headlong into beautiful, sprawling ambient explorations and deep, mystical drone,” and will see its official release on June 24. In the meantime, Gengras’ 11-minute “Passage” composition can be streamed in full below.

FaltyDL has announced plans to issue a new LP via Ninja Tune this summer, sharing a stream of the record’s lead single, ”Do Me,” in the process. Titled In the Wild, the upcoming full-length follows the Brooklyn producer’s recent ”Danger” 10” and 2013’s Hardcourage LP for the label. For the new record, FaltyDL has reportedly collaborated with British artist Chris Shen to realize the album’s central theme of taking FaltyDL’s music, well, ”into the wild.” To that effect, a video showing New York City crew W.A.F.F.L.E. dancing to a new FaltyDL track in a moving subway car can be watched here, while the producer has also written a poem to accompany the album—we’re not quite sure what to make of it, but those who are curious can read it here.

FaltyDL’s forthcoming album is set to drop in mid-August during a 14-city tour through Europe, Canada, and the US. In the meantime, a full tracklisting for In the Wild can be found below, where lead single ”Do Me” is also streaming.

Skream (a.k.a. Oliver Jones) made his name as a dubstep producer, but over the past year, has fully devoted himself to the sounds of house and disco. Now, the Croydon-born veteran and Radio 1 DJ has announced the launch of a new platform to service this change in direction. His new label, Of Unsound Mind, will pivot around a ”melodic, deep, and colorful” aesthetic, with London-based producer Motions—a Body High affiliate and one half of the now defunct Grown Folk pair—delivering the imprint’s inaugural record.
