Motions has certainly been busy over the past month or so. After giving away a free track here on XLR8R, the London-based artist remixed the latest single from Body High co-founder Samo Sound Boy and followed that up by putting together an hour-long mix. As if that wasn’t enough, Motions also announced his forthcoming debut EP, which will drop next week via Body High. The news was accompanied by a stream of lead cut “All Gone,” and today, he’s elected to share another song from the EP. “Orion” is another melody-driven, synth-heavy dancefloor tune, and can be heard in the player below. The All Gone EP will be officially released on April 29.

Following up on last year’s excellent Still Browsing EP, recent Brooklyn transplant Bobby Browser will drop a new four-track effort next month featuring remixes from SF producer Ghosts on Tape and Barcelona mainstay John Talabot. With the former Bubblin’ Up artist’s past two efforts appearing via 100% Silk, Browser’s forthcoming History / So True EP will find the former Oakland resident debuting on the Icee Hot label (which, we should point out, is co-run by XLR8R editor Shawn Reynaldo). The new EP will also see the artist operating under a slightly new moniker, shortening his handle to simply Bobby B, as he uses the occasion to explore a “a richer, deeper sound” than was presented on his previous outings.

Both new soul-dripping Bobby B originals and their accompanying remixes can be previewed below before History / So True sees a full release on May 27.

Back in 2010, the Honest Jon’s-issued Shangaan Electro compilation touched off a bloom of interest in the niche South African genre, introducing listeners to a genre marked by sparse construction, lightning-quick percussion, and its own unique rhythmic sensibilities. In the midst of all this attention, a light was shined on Nozinja, a producer who has largely been credited with creating the genre. Earlier this month, it was announced that Nozinja had been signed to Warp Records, and today, his first effort for the seminal label has surfaced. “Tsekeleke” will reportedly appear on a 12″ that is slated to appear later in 2014, but for now, the song has been realized in the form of a music video, which can be viewed below. The vibrant clip was filmed in Johannesburg, was directed by Chris Saunders, and highlights both the bright color palette and the rapid-fire dance moves that have become staples of the shangaan electro world. Nozinja himself is featured heavily in the video, and although he’s not doing much dancing, his flamboyant outfit and willingness to mug for the camera more than do their part to keep things jubilant.

Ever since Bleep made the announcement that it would be celebrating its 10th anniversary with an all-star compilation containing nothing but new music, the online retailer has made sure to continue stoking the electronic world’s collective excitement about the upcoming record. In recent weeks, we’ve heard an exclusive track from Untold, a new song from Fuck Buttons, and Machinedrum’s contribution to the collection. Today, the anticipation has been ratcheted up another notch, thanks to the appearance of a new track from Modeselektor. As it turns out, the veteran German duo is headlining a Bleep:10 release party tonight in New York, topping a line-up at Sankeys NYC that also includes FaltyDL, Aquarian, and Turbo Tronix. In the meantime, Modeselektor’s new song has been shared; it’s called “I’m Not into Twerk, I’m into KrafTwerk,” and it’s streaming in full below. Bleep:10 will be released on May 5, and those looking to hear more of it can find preview clips of all 14 of the compilation’s tracks here.

The rapid approach of summer also signifies the start of Ibiza’s 2014 party season. We Love…, superclub Space Ibiza‘s Sunday night exploration of all things tasteful in dance music, has just announced its residents, and the list is looking pretty good.

Beginning June 8 and running through to the end of September, the weekly party is set to feature multiple curated events with the likes of Ben UFO, Bicep, Paul Woolford, Disclosure, Dusky, Skream, and others serving as residents throughout the months. Yesterday, Red Bull Music Academy published Peter Shapiro’s Saturday Mass: Larry Levan and the Paradise Garage, a revealing character study of influential New York post-disco DJ Larry Levan. As an addendum, RBMA has shared a YouTube playlist of the “Top 100” tracks from Paradise Garage, the legendary club where Levan held a decade-long residency.

The comprehensive playlist’s selections showcase the eclecticism of Levan’s mixing palette, with sweetly soulful disco cuts like Diana Ross’ “No One Gets the Prize” sitting comfortably next to David Byrne and Brian Eno’s bizarro sample experiment, “The Jezebel Spirit.” The full chart is available to stream below or on RBMA’s YouTube page.

Houston-based footwork technician Wheez-ie has announced the launch of his new label Southern Belle, set to start off with a new EP from juke maven DJ Rashad. Titled We On 1, the inaugural four-track effort appears to follow along the path laid by the Chicago producer’s Double Cup LP for Hyperdub, and features frequent collaborators DJ Spinn, Gant-Man, and DJ Manny.

We On 1 will see a vinyl and digital release via Southern Belle on April 28 and May 13 respectively. In the meantime, Rashad’s latest effort is available to stream in full via the player below. (via FACT)

Back in 2009, Terre Thaemlitz—using her DJ Sprinkles alter-ego—released Midtown 120 Blues, a deep and strong reminder of house music’s less glamorous roots as a soundtrack to the transgender sex worker bars of pre-Disneyfied Times Square. Now, five years later, Thaemlitz is re-releasing her iconic work as a deluxe CD-only reissue, which notably comes with a large newsprint poster of the LP’s cover (pictured above).

As Thaemlitz tells FACT, the reissue will only be available in CD form, with no plans for vinyl, due to the fact that the “the bass spatialization effects that give many of these recordings their sonic character are incompatible with vinyl mastering techniques.” With that in mind, Midtown 120 Blues‘ deluxe CD edition is scheduled for a May 31 release on Thaemlitz’s own Comatonse imprint, and can currently be pre-ordered here.
