We are fast approaching the one-year mark since Machinedrum (pictured above) released his XLR8R Pick’d “Eyesdontlie” single, one of our favorite tracks of 2013. And yet new versions of the moody, drum-focused song are still being released, the latest of which is a dubby remix from longstanding UK producers Adrian Sherwood and Pinch. Premiered today on OkayFuture, “Eyesdontlie (Sherwood & Pinch Remix)” is a noisy, slow-shuffling production which twists the titular vocal loop into a myriad of mangled forms as it works out a constantly evolving groove. The whole thing is a pretty far cry from Machinedrum’s own work, but is nonetheless paired with a few original tunes and a remix form Rustie on his just-released Fenris District EP.

After announcing its initial line-up in early February, distinguished Croatian festival Unknown has disclosed another list of artists scheduled to touch down in Rovinj this fall. Appearing between September 8 and 12, the likes of German trio Moderat, brotherly UK duo Disclosure (pictured above), Jamie xx, Bristolian party starter Eats Everything, Pampa label head DJ Koze, Prins Thomas, and more will perform alongside DJ Harvey, John Talabot, and Mount Kimbie, just to name a few. Headed by longstanding SoCal producer Nosaj Thing, the recently dormant Timetable label has just relaunched with a new single from LA up-and-comer D Tiberio. Out today, “Purple Hi-Chew” b/w “Jerome” features two bass-streaked productions from the budding talent, both steeped in soul and topped off with a healthy dose of vocal chops.

To celebrate its first release of original material in some time, Timetable has elected to share a full stream of a-side cut “Purple Hi-Chew” below. D Tiberio’s new single preempts the project’s upcoming debut LP, 304, which is set to drop in late April.

Mumdance (a.k.a. Jack Adams) has quietly built a name for himself with a steady stream of bass permutations in recent years, but the London producer decided to go back a bit further and revisit his roots in a new mix that premiered yesterday. Entitled Music to… Make You Hardcore, the hour-long session was commissioned by i-D and found Adams digging through his record collection and eventually stringing together a mix of the hardcore tunes that “brought [him] the happiest memories.” Explaining that he focused on the “1993 – 1994 ‘proto’ era when hardcore was starting to split up into what would become jungle on the one side and… happy hardcore [on the other],” Adams’ selections are heavy on hyperactive breakbeats, pitched-up vocal snippets, and an undeniable sense of fun. After delivering collaborative LPs for PAN alongside Thomas Ankersmit and label head Bill Kouligas, reel-to-reel sound artist Valerio Tricoli will return to the imprint next month with a solo full-length called Miseri Lares. Known for crafting “beautifully unsettling musique concrète,” Tricoli’s forthcoming album is described as the Italian artist’s “magnum opus,” and is further detailed as a “multilayered and heavily nuanced work which epitomizes the uncanny in the realm of sound.” The double-LP will incorporate English and Italian spoken-word samples amongst its audio collages, playing out “like a literary form of unsettling sound sculpture.”

Tricoli’s Miseri Lares album will see a full release on April 28. In the meantime, the record’s full tracklist is included below, along with a stream of LP cut “Le Qoheleth ?”

As it does every year, the SXSW music festival and conference brought just about every living artist imaginable to perform in Austin earlier this month, and that includes excellent sets from some of XLR8R‘s favorite DJs and producers. Four Tet‘s session on Boiler Room was among the litany of sights and sounds taking over the Texan city that week, and as always happens with those live-streaming events, video of the party has now appeared online. The artist born Kieran Hebden is in fine form throughout his hour-long DJ set, whizzing through a number of bass-infused tracks, including plenty of his own dancefloor-ready productions. It’s yet another reason why pretty much all Four Tet performances are worth watching at least once, and that is exactly what can be done in the player below.
