Fade to Mind has been relatively quiet so far in 2014, but the LA imprint will soon be launching a new collaborative series called Mind to Mind. For the first installment, the label has enlisted a pair of New Jersey producers, MikeQ and DJ Sliink. Both artists arguably serve as de facto leaders of their respective genres, with MikeQ operating in the vogue/ballroom sphere while Sliink came up in the world of Jersey club. The two have discussed working together properly for some time, and Sliink actually remixed MikeQ’s “The Ha Dub Rewerk’d” back in 2011. On this first Mind to Mind release, the pair has put together two songs, “The Bitch” and “Werk’d It,” both of which are said to have Jersey club and ballroom elements. The record is set to drop on April 15, but in the meantime, the record’s artwork and a preview stream of the a-side can be found below.

New mixes from burgeoning Detroit producer MGUN (pictured above) and recent New York transplant Bobby Browser have made their way to the web.

First, MGUN steps up to the plate for EPM‘s podcast series, delivering a 13-track collection of some of his more obscure techno favorites. “I never hear anyone playing these records, and that’s my thing,” MGUN explains in the mix’s accompanying interview, “playing shit that is rarely heard.” The increasingly prolific Detroit resident’s new session can be streamed and downloaded via EPM here, where its full tracklist can also be found.

Secondly, former Oakland resident and Bubblin’ Up artist Bobby Browser performed as part of Brooklyn’s Deep Trouble party last weekend, a set that the 100% Silk affiliate previewed with an hour-long mix on the event promoter’s SoundCloud. Though this one is a couple days old, a mix this steeped in soul-drenched sonics and vintage house vibes is certainly better heard late than never. Following up his “Dust” single from last year, Glaswegian producer Alex Smoke is returning to the venerable R&S label to release another EP, the four-track RS 1403. The record is described as being “quite possibly the most dancefloor material [Alex Smoke] has released in some time,” and will arrive as vinyl and digital packages on May 19. Ahead of that release, the tracklist and artwork for RS 1403 can be found below.

UK producers and Modern Love stalwarts Andy Stott and Miles Whittaker (who also serves as one half of Demdike Stare) have been working together as Millie & Andrea since 2008, but the pair recently announced the impending release of a proper full-length album, Drop the Vowels (artwork above). The LP won’t officially be available until the end of the month, but a stream of the entire record has surfaced online. Thump UK is hosting the stream, and also took the time to do a quick interview with Andy Stott, who comments on the collaborative process, the forthcoming Millie & Andrea live show, and his surprising affinity for Lil B. Drop the Vowels will be released on March 31.

Following the release of his A Series of Desecrations EP via Our Circula Sound late last year, James Shaw (a.k.a. Sigha) has announced the details of his next record, a six-track offering called The Purification Loops. The EP is said to “[blur] the lines between the dancefloor and the ritual chamber,” as “scuffed rhythm and analogue bleed blend together, combining a techno aesthetic with something more primal.” Each of Sigha’s new productions are essentially individual loops which focus on “fragmentation and prolonged repetition,” while both leaning on and abandoning club-ready structures. The Purification Loops EP is set to drop on April 7 via burgeoning London label Avian, and its tracklist and artwork can be perused below.

Secretive UK house eccentric Gerry Read will drop his latest record, the four-track Shrubby EP, next week via Aus. Featuring two original productions and two remixes from masked Berlin artist Redshape, the release seems primed to be a promising addition to Gerry Read’s prolific streak, especially after we heard its title track late last month. Now, before it arrives next week, the entirety of Shrubby can be streamed in full. Featuring loads of the UK producer’s signature raw drum sounds and chunky grooves, “Shrubby” and “Zig Zag” are equally matched by the two wild, synth-centric reinterpretations of the title track delivered by Redshape. All four tunes can be heard in their entirety in the player below, ahead of their release on March 24.

London-based “opto-musical agglomerate” Sculpture (a.k.a Dan Hayhurst and Reuben Sutherland) has announced the forthcoming release of its 11-track Membrane Pop LP, which will drop this spring via Oneotrix Point Never‘s innovative Software label. Ahead of the album’s arrival, the inventive artists have provided one of their trademark audio/visual pieces for lead single “Polymorphic Operator.” Guided by a reverberating bassline, hand-made percussion, and sprinkles of neutral synth waves and light glitches, the tune is mirrored in contrast by static-riddled geometric patterns that pulsate throughout the video.

Sculpture’s Membrane Pop will be released on May 13, but before then, its tracklist and artwork can be found below, where the piece for “Polymorphic Operator” is also available.
