Last month, Brooklyn producer and visual artist Aurora Halal announced that she would soon be launching a label arm of her famed Mutual Dreaming parties. That news has come to fruition today with the release of Passageway, a five-track effort that serves as both Halal’s debut EP and her new imprint’s first outing. Even better, one of its tracks has surfaced online. “Overpass” begins by combining spacey melodies with a subtle percussive pulse and lilting bits of a mysterious vocal, and slowly brings in hints of acid over the course of its four-plus-minute runtime. Following the birth of his first son, experimental German musician Hauschka found a “burst of creative energy” which led him to compose and record the entirety of his upcomingAbandoned City LP, with the exception of lead single “Elizabeth Bay”, in a mere 10 days. But before it drops via City Slang/Temporary Residence LTD. on March 17, the album is now available to stream in full.

Hauschka employs improvisational techniques in his music, allegedly “trusting the music to take him in the proper direction.” With a total of nine microphones in his arsenal, the artist used six to capture piano sounds via an analogue console which carefully preserved and directed them into his computer, while the other three fed the sounds through a mixer armed with delay, distortion, and echo effects. Hauschka’s conceptual exploration through ruined cityscapes is said to be a metaphor to depict the sense of “inner tension” he feels while composing. From one deserted city to the next, each aptly titled track is an individualized look at realms where civilization ceases to exist.

After releasing a new EP via his own Let’s Play House imprint last month, NY house staple Jacques Renault has delivered a new edit for free download. Appearing as part of the bi-weekly Edit Service project curated by French label I’m a Cliché, the freebie finds Renault reworking one of his personal favorite tunes into a seven-minute, synth-stacked excursion. Leon Vynehall has been busy as of late, appearing as a remixer on a number of impressive releases already this year and dropping a new mix on FACT halfway through last week. More importantly, though, Vynehall’s seven-track mini-LP Music for the Uninvited is just around the corner, but before it sees an official release via Martyn’s 3024 imprint next week, the record is now available to stream in full.

Since officially beginning to release productions in 2012, Vynehall has been an artist who favors dusty grooves and loose shuffles over the kinds of precise sonics which characterize much of the UK’s current club music. Music for the Uninvited is said to follow suit, with its seven jazz-flecked productions actually recorded straight to cassette, the ensuing layers of hiss and blurred frequency ranges intended to help thread the record together. The results of Vynehall’s latest production experiment can be heard in their entirety via Spin, here, before it arrives on March 17.

Late last week, Jacques Greeneannounced his plan to drop a new EP via LuckyMe in April, sharing his extensive spring tour dates in the process. Now, the first single from Jacques Greene’s upcoming Phantom Vibrate EP is available to hear. “No Excuse” lands the Montreal producer in familiar territory as he crafts a moody, tastefully R&B-streaked club track with lush chords and vocal flips aplenty. The Netherlands-based Dekmantel Festival—which we loved during its inaugural outing last summer—will return for a second go-round at Amsterdam Bos between August 1 and 3, boasting a lineup of nearly 100 international artists and a newly introduced campsite. Among the DJs and producers currently announced to perform are 3 Chairs (a.k.a. Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Rick Wilhite, and Marcellus Pittman), Jamie xx, Mount Kimbie, Nicolas Jaar, Hessle Audio founders Ben UFO, Pangaea, and Pearson Sound, Joy Orbison, DJ Koze, Talaboman (a.k.a. Axel Boman and John Talabot), and Plaid, among many others. In addition to this initial list of artists, Dekmantel has unveiled a handful of curated stages which will hosted by Resident Advisor, Boiler Room, Red Bull Music Academy, and XLR8R.

Said to have been over a year in the making, the next compilation to arrive from New York label Throne of Blood, Moon Rock Volume 1, will feature “unreleased drones, beatless versions, and arpeggiated chillout tackle” from an array of quality producers. The list of contributors set to appear on the forthcoming record includes the likes of Juju & Jordash, Space Dimension Controller operating under his old RL/VL alias, Pittsburgh Track Authority, Simian Mobile Disco (pictured above), Jokers of the Scene, Naum Gabo, and L.I.E.S. affiliate Steve Moore, among others, all of who share new compositions which connect the sounds of “new age, ambient, sci-fi soundtracks, ’90s chillout, and the most psychotropic strands of modern analogue dance music.” Available in late April, Moon Rock Volume 1 will be the inaugural release of Throne of Blood’s new series; its artwork and tracklist can be found below, where a video previewing DAMH’s “Seebestattung” can also be found.

Award-winning UK DJ/producer, I/AM/ME label head, and one time XLR8R podcast contributor Maya Jane Coles has been tapped to helm the next edition in Fabric‘s enduring series of mix albums. Following recent installments from the likes of Move D and Ben Sims (not to mention Hessle Audio’s Pangaea and garage icon DJ EZ over in the Fabriclive series), Fabric 75 is scheduled to arrive on April 29 in the US (April 21 in Europe), and is said to focus on “fittingly percussive and musically rich simplicity; a raw house sound that is more mature and approachable than ever.” Artists such as Paul Woolford, Dixon, Trus’me, Chesus, NT89, and the mixmaster herself (who includes a previously unreleased production) help flesh out the hour-plus-long session, offering “esoteric” and “engaging atmospheres” across tunes that are said to present Coles’ “personal and fascinating approach to dance music.”
