This week, cerebral London artist patten released his second album, ESTOILE NAIANT, via Warp, an occasion we helped highlight just yesterday with an illuminating and engrossing feature on the atypical artist. And the busy producer has now followed it all up with the announcement of his first world tour and yet another music video from visual collaborator Jane Eastlight. The clip for “Winter Strobing” is about as unusual of a visual accompaniment as we’ve come to expect from a patten song, with the director simply following behind a girl in a blue jacket as she casually walks through public spaces in London during a single uninterrupted shot. Subtly perspective-altering visual effects come and go at random, but we never find out who this girl is or where she is going—which could very well be the point.

As for patten’s tour, the producer will embark on a series of dates around the globe starting at London’s Rough Trade East tomorrow, after which he’ll go on to play in Norway, Japan, Germany, Italy, Belgium, France, and select cities in the US. It was just over a year ago that burgeoning UK talent South London Ordnance delivered us his exclusive XLR8R podcast, and about a month ago that we discovered the DJ/producer had plans to follow up his inaugural EP for his fledgling Aery Metals label with the “Dead Cell” b/w “Portal II (Girl Talks About Acid)” 12″. That record is set to drop on March 3, but before then, we’re treated to the first installment of a supposedly ongoing podcast series from South London Ordnance’s imprint. The nearly hour-long DJ set dives head first into tough, mechanical techno, seeming to only dig deeper and deeper into the shadowy vibes as it progresses. There’s currently no tracklist for the latest mix from South London Ordnance, but Aery Metals Podcast 001 can nonetheless be streamed and downloaded for free below.

With the exception of last year’sHummingbird EP, UK producer BNJMN has remained somewhat quiet over the past year. However, today the former XLR8R podcast contributor has briefly broken his silence to offer a new tune for free download. The unpronounceably titled “—————————————–” is a welcome check-in from the Rush Hour affiliate, one which incorporates a number of rotating crystalline patterns and cloud-like synths that sound pleasantly reminiscent of his excellent 2011 LPs Plastic World and Black Square. Following the release of her “Family” b/w “La Neta” single, Eglo staple Fatima was invited to perform in the latest installment of Resident Advisor‘s RA Sessions video series, using the opportunity to announce the official release date of her debut LP Yellow Memories. Accompanied by keyboardist Jonathan Geyevu, the London-based Swedish soul singer performs “Gave Me My Name,” a melancholy, no-frills tune that purely draws attention to her smooth and powerful voice. The original version of “Gave Me My Name” (produced by Floating Points) will feature on Fatima’s LP when it drops on May 12, according to Dummy; the song’s new live rendition can be seen in full below.

The Friends of Friends label has established itself as a solid outpost for various melodically textured and beat-oriented sounds over the past few years, and now, the LA-based imprint has added a new act to its roster, Different Sleep. Not much is known about the San Diego-raised, Chicago-based producer born Rafa Alvarez, but Friends of Friends will be issuing his debut EP, Conflict, on April 22. The complete tracklist hasn’t been shared just yet, but the record’s artwork is below, along with a stream of swirling EP cut “Damage,” a song which purportedly “explores the pain and discomfort caused by a broken relationship and the subsequent sorrow that unfolds.”

Though we’ve been well aware of the impending arrival of Bubblin’ Up Scottish producer and Tuff Wax boss Lockah‘s debut album for Donky Pitch since his recent EP was announced back in January, the finer details of his Yahoo or the Highway LP have only just arrived. Lockah’s 13-track record is set to arrive on April 14, and is said to feature “synth driven melody and pop tendencies being weaved into a rich mix of influences, from Italo disco to electro, rave to R&B, all whilst remaining resoundingly original and unconventional.” As a taste of Yahoo or the Highway‘s new music, the Brighton-based artist has unveiled one of its new tracks, the glowingly playful “Contact High with Big Lockah.” That production can be streamed in full below, where the album’s tracklist is also included; lead single “If Loving U is Wrong, I Don’t Want to Be Wrong” can be heard here.

After delivering the standout Heat Division EP last year via Ghostly, UK producer Dauwd has announced that his next release will arrive via Cologne staple Kompakt this spring. Described as “a lushly orchestrated journey drawing on infectious rhythms and epic melodies,” the forthcoming Kindlinn EP will feature three new productions from Dauwd, including a-side cut “Lydia,” which can be streamed in full below. The London producer’s first record for Kompakt is set to see both a digital and vinyl release on April 7.
