To celebrate 4/20, The Fug (a.k.a. Brain Rays and Stoogie Houzer) have offered up two exclusive tracks as free downloads.
The tracks act as a precursor to the duo’s forthcoming Enter the Fug 2 mixtape, which is set to drop in summer on cassette and digitally. The Fug draws upon all of the influences of the duo’s “misspent youth,” reimagining genres such as hip-hop, house, ambient, and jungle and coating them in “thick, sticky sludge and dragging them deep into an uneasy, hypnotic world.” The two tracks on offer today invite the listener into this murky, smoke-filled world with warped basslines, scattered percussion, and queasy beats.
The new project follows Brain Rays’ recent collaboration with Neil Landstrumm on My Techno Weighs A Ton, and precedes a forthcoming EP with Landstrumm on DJ Haus’ Unknown to the Unknown.
You can stream and download the two free tracks below.
Frangie is a Stockholm trio made up of Adriana Aburto Essén, Fredrik Stjärne, and Francisco Sobrado.
They’ve performed at ADE, Göteborg’s Film Festival, and the Nobel Prize Afterparty, and on earlier this month, the trio released their self-titled debut EP on newly founded label Missing Letters. The EP provides a fitting introduction to the trio, delivering five tracks full of playful melodies and contemplative lyrics crafted with a range of samplers, loop machines, voice transformers, and synthesizers.
In support of the EP, Frangie have offered up the gorgeous groove-led “Don’t Text Me” as today’s XLR8R download, available via WeTransfer below, along with lyrics from the track.
“Getting lost with me Connecting with me
Hybrids Mind grids Connected
If you really wanna see me Don’t text me Come find me.”
Later this month, New York-based label Ninetofire will release a new EP from its co-founder, Copenhagen-born, New York-based artist Emil Bovbjerg (a.k.a. VAVAV).
The EP, titled Human House, represents the label’s third release, following on from two outings from Bovbjerg’s trio N/UM—a group which has been drawing international attention for their innovative live sets which incorporate stringed instruments, voices, analog synthesizers, and drum machines. On Human House, the classically trained Bovbjerg presents three jazz-tinged minimal outings, from the dreamily melodic “Love U” to the warm grooves of the EP’s closing track, “All Night I have.”
In support of the release, the label has shared a full stream of “Love U,” available via the player below.
Human House drops on April 30 and can be pre-ordered here.
Andre Crom is back on Sleaze Records after his debut last year. We’re told that this one is “even stronger,” with three original tracks, “each bringing a different vibe. On remix duties is Wehbba, from Drumcode.
In support of the release, you can download “Dione” via the WeTransfer button below.

Orbits Festival has revealed the final wave of artists and shared details about the solidarity program and its sustainability plan. The event will also now start on June 21 rather than 22, as previously announced.
Orbits is an “intimate” event with a focus on techno, experimental, and ambient fields of electronic music. The event’s aesthetic philosophy is said to find the “perfect context” in the surroundings of the São Gião camping park, near Oliveira do Hospital, at the heart of the Portuguese countryside—two hours by car from Porto and about one hour more from Lisbon. Being itself a symbol of the resilience, following the dreadful fires of last October, these grounds are said to “act as the ideal launchpad for the journey that Orbits seeks to be, of healing, self-discovery, and connection.”
A carefully selected roster of artists from the techno, experimental, and ambient fields will perform over four days of performances, including the following names from the final wave of artists, some of Portugal’s “most interesting” electronic artists.

Musician, producer, visual artist, thinker, and activist Brian Eno will soon release Music For Installations, a collection of new, rare, and previously unreleased tracks, all of which will be available on vinyl for the first time.
Eno first came to international prominence in the early ’70s as a founding member of Roxy Music, and immediately followed with a series of critically-praised and influential solo albums. His visionary production includes albums with David Bowie, Talking Heads, Devo, Laurie Anderson, and Coldplay, whilst his long list of collaborations includes recordings with John Cale, David Byrne, Grace Jones, and James Blake.
Less widely discussed are his visual experiments with light and video. These are the fertile ground from which so much of his other work has grown. These works have been exhibited all over the globe, from the Venice Biennale and the Marble Palace in St. Petersburg to Beijing’s Ritan Park and the sails of the Sydney Opera House.
Designed by Brian and long-time collaborator Nick Robertson, the package comes with a 64-page booklet featuring rare and unseen exhibition photographs and a new essay written by Eno.

Crudo Volta has shared Yenki Taxi, a documentary following the contemporary Ghanian music scene.
The new film follows on from Woza Taxi—Crudo Volta’s documentary about South Africa’s Gqom scene—with a further look at how African urban music is increasingly influencing the fabric of European club culture. By following the journey of Hagan, an artist of both European and African descent, and local Ghanian musicians such as Gafacci and Rvdikal The Kid, Yenki Taxi looks at how this influence comes into play, charting the interaction of modern and traditional musical elements.
Legendary DJ, remixer, and edit exponent Greg Wilson has today released the third instalment of his hugely popular Credit To The Edit series. Almost a decade on from Volume 2, Credit To The Edit—Vol. 3, available now via Tirk Recordings, draws on music from the disco and rave eras, adding a seminal hip-hop cut, a Balearic favourite, as well a few contemporary tracks from the last 10 years.
A groundbreaking DJ, Greg played a key role in introducing black electronic dance music to the UK via his early ‘80s residencies at Wigan Pier, Manchester’s Legend and The Haçienda, as well as over the airwaves on the city’s Piccadilly Radio. Working with Technics turntables, a Revox reel to reel tape machine, and a razor blade, Greg carved out his reputation as a UK pioneer and champion of electro-funk. More recently, following his 2003 comeback after a two-decade hiatus, he’s gained international recognition at the vanguard of a now global re-edits movement. In support of this latest release, Wilson compiled his favorite post-disco cult classics and listed them below.
Northend “Tee’s Happy” [Emergency Records]
A mainly instrumental flip side of “Happy Days,” Tee being legendary NYC DJ Tee Scott, who mixed the release. It provided the breakthrough for Arthur Baker, one of the great producers of the period, who’d launch his Streetwise label the following year, as well as producing the era-defining “Planet Rock” for Afrika Bambaataa & The Soul Sonic Force on Tommy Boy.
D-Train “You’re The One For Me” [Instrumental Mix] [Epic]
Inspired by the UK release Love Money by TW Funk Masters, Prelude A&R man François Kevorkian came up with this masterpiece of a dance track, employing a dub sensibility that would inform his future approach. Kevorkian would gain acclaim as one of the leading remixers of the era working on tracks by artists including Sharon Redd, Yazoo, Dinosaur L, and Kraftwerk.
Peech Boys “Don’t Make Me Wait” [Dub Mix] [West End Records]
Larry Levan took up the dub baton, helping pave the way for a new electronic direction in dance music via this seminal cut. We’d never heard the likes of its opening fierce claps, which would then be copied on subsequent releases like Sinnamon’s “Thanks To You” and “Walking On Sunshine” by Rockers Revenge. The 7” also included an acappella version intended for DJ use.
Q “Voice Of Q” (Instrumental) [Philly World Records]
Sometimes mistakenly claimed as Italo Disco, “Voice Of Q” was recorded in Philadelphia as a one-off inspired by the blockbuster movie “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.” It initially took off on the UK electro-funk underground, becoming very much a cult cut. It was recently given an official re-issue for the first time in over 35 years by Adelaide label Isle Of Jura.
The last great hurrah from arranger/conductor vibraphonist/percussionist Vincent Montana Jr., one of Disco’s key figures and founding member of Philadelphia International Records house band MFSB, who backed numerous artists on the classic label, before turning up in New York with other MFSB members to form the Salsoul Orchestra and seamlessly continue to rack up the club hits.
AVA. Records will soon release a repress of Move D’s seminal Kunstoff album.
Coming this May, there will be two handcrafted and remastered versions put out by the German label. Aside from a classic 2LP release, AVA.LP006, there will also be a limited edition 4LP housed in a handmade box—AVA.XL001. It will contain the original album, two records of previously unreleased Kunststoff material, a cassette tape with live jams from 2005, and a signed screen print. It will be limited to just 130 copies worldwide.
The limited edition is put together by hand in Heidelberg, Germany, Move D’s hometown. Each element of the design represents a part of the chair depicted on the original sleeve artwork: orange leather, dark wood, brushed metal, and the blue carpet.
The boxes wrapped with high-quality Fedrigoni paper that matches the original design’s orange leather upholstery. The title and credits on the back are screen-printed in white, by hand, using the original release’s iconic typography. The box is inlaid with thick blue felt representing the blue carpet. On top of the four records lies a numbered screen-print of the minimalistic chair design, printed on the same orange Fedrigoni Italian stock used for the box, and signed by Move D. The record sleeves are printed silver on white, with slick type on the back and four versions of the original chair design on each cover. And finally, a cassette is found on the bottom in a specially designed opening in the felt inlay.
Kunststoff was originally released in 1995 on Source Records and then repressed by City Centre Offices in 2006.
