Lpascolatti is a Rotterdam-based, Brazil-born producer. He describes his work as “a more mental and visual” type of electronic music, where he mixes trippy synthesizers with hard, industrial drums.
It all started with the guitar at an early age, but he became enchanted with alternative rock after watching Kraftwerk in 2009. He has been producing and releasing independently since 2015.
His latest release, Up Side Down, landed late last year, and in support of the EP, LPascolatti has offered up “They Shall Not Pass” as one of XLR8R‘s free downloads. Grab it now via the WeTransfer button below.
Texan trio Khruangbin will release their highly anticipated second album, Con Todo El Mundo, on January 26 via Dead Oceans.
The band is formed by Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald “DJ” Johnson on drums. Together, they take influence from 1960’s Thai funk—their name literally translates to “Engine Fly” in Thai. Their 2015 debut album, The Universe Smiles Upon You, drew influences from ’60’s and ’70s Thai cassettes infused with classic soul, dub, and psychedelia—but this new record sees the band expand their global influence to sounds of Spain and the Middle East, particularly Iran, from the 1960s, 1970s and beyond.
The record’s name, Con Todo El Mundo, is in part dedicated to Laura Lee’s Mexican-American grandfather, who was a big influence on her life. She says, “My grandpa would always ask me ‘Como me quieres?’ (how much do you love me?) And he’d only ever accept one response: ‘Con todo el mundo’ (with all the world). He created his own world to live in. Khruangbin is the world we’ve created.”

One year after its first release, Nagual Drift is back with a new various artist compilation, featuring tracks from Hymns, Amnfx, Phonom, and more.
Hymns, who featured in our list of 2017’s best new artists, is an Australian DJ-producer, real name Jacob Cusumano. The Melbourne-based artist has released on Salt Mines, LKR Records, Momentary Records, and Play !t Loud; while he also co-runs Melbourne parties Cool Room. His next release, landing on January 26, comes in the shape of a dancefloor-ready acidic house contribution to Nagual Drift’s new various artist compilation.
The seven-track release features pieces of “emotional music from talented producers,” the label explains. It embraces blooming ethereal soundscapes, breakbeat, melancholic leftfield house, and “deep dark sorrow” techno. It will land on a 2×12” double EP with a handmade silk-screen process cover, limited to just 500 numbered copies.
Samuel Rohrer has shared a new video for “Body of Ignorance,” taken from a live solo performance, and announced a remix bundle featuring all four remixes of his Range of Regularity LP.
Berlin-based Rohrer is the multi-faceted forward-thinking percussionist and producer behind the arjunamusic label, the AMBIQ trio, and a wealth of other musical projects. Last year he released a new LP, titled Range of Regularity, as a double vinyl set, and followed this up with two remix EPs, including remixes by Ricardo Villalobos, Vilod (a.k.a Ricardo Villalobos and Max Loderbauer), and Burnt Friedman.
These four striking reinterpretations are now to be re-released as a bundle (2×12″ and digital), including the original mix of “Uncertain Grace” as a bonus track. Each remix provides an intriguing parallax view of the original tracks, using the percussive eclecticism of the parent LP as a starting point from which to journey into sonically vibrant territories. Though each individual remix has its own character, they are all “united in their in that they are all strung together from fleeting phrases that evolve as if they are taking on a life independent of their creators.”
Meanwhile, you can find a new video clip of Rohrer’s latest solo work, recorded live, together with visuals by Andrea Familari.

Holotone is the label of Daniele Antezza (a.k.a Inner8)— a member of Dadub. The label’s three previous releases have come from Antezza himself, as Inner8, Koichi Shimizu, and Scald Process in late 2017. It will be Rosati’s, an Italian sound and digital artist, first appearance on the imprint. He’s previously released on his own label Nephogram and Ripple Recordings, among others.
The releases lands with the following text:
“Gaining traction, gaining speed, the primaeval ritual reaches its boiling point, melting the borders of mind and flesh: a turgid vortex of unstable potential, constantly mutating and morphing itself. Unformed and unstructured morphogenetic flows of matter-energy-information, self-organizing processes constituting a veritable non-organic life: the Body without Organs, that glacial reality where the alluvions, sedimentations, coagulations, foldings, and recoilings that compose an organism occur, a motherly womb detonating hydrogen bombs in her prefrontal cervix, atomizing the doors of perception with sheer gargantuan sonic tremor.”
Eclektic is the solo project of Zürich-based electronic producer Daniel Stucki.
Daniel’s interest in music began at the early age of seven when he started playing acoustic guitar and listening to a lot of music from different genres. In 1995, he attended his first rave and became fascinated by this “new” electronic music as well as DJ mixing. A friend took him to his vinyl dealer and Dani started to mix at home with only a handful of LPs and a pair of decks. After several years, he was ready for public gigs—intially at private and small events, but he was soon booked as a resident DJ at clubs and bigger rave events across Switzerland and Germany.
Dani then moved on to composing his own music under his alias 7AIR, first together with friends in their studios before building his own. During this time, his interest evolved into downtempo music. He soon started to compose “what came from his heart,” he says. Then, in 2016, he had his first EP released under his new alias Eclektic. Under this alias, he aims to share “a unique, intuitive sound that creates a hypnotic trip of forward beats and almost palpable overtones.”
As a showcase of his work, he’s shared “Sky Holder,” a recent cut that can be downloaded in full via the WeTransfer button below.
Umfang, a top pick as one of our best new acts of 2017, is a producer and DJ hailing from New York City and a founding member of the Discwoman collective, who in recent years have helped refocus conversations of inclusiveness and representation in dance music. Musically, Olsen creates loose, vibed-out techno with an introspective touch that stands in stark contrast to harder, and purposefully challenging, DJ sets. Following a 2015 debut on Vancouver’s 1080p label, Olsen released her first album, Symbolic Use of Light, on Ninja Tune offshoot Technicolour.
In what is a rare in depth interview, Olsen’s lecture retraces her musical journey via early years in Kansas City while discussing the politics of dance music and her distinct approaches to both production and DJing.
