Marco Bailey ‘Ryoko’

Earlier this month, Marco Bailey released his fifth studio album, Temper, via his label and events project Materia.

Temper features seventeen tracks that stretch out across Bailey’s sonic spectrum, organically flowing through dreamlike ambient explorations, stripped-back electro, low-key beat tracks, and the driving techno for which he is most known. Sitting at a run-time of an hour and a half, Temper is a perfect definition of where Bailey’s sound is currently at.

You can pick up the LP here, with album cut “Ryoko” available via WeTransfer below.

XLR8R’s Top 10 Downloads of October

Every month, XLR8R works with artists and labels to release a large batch of exclusive tracks for your download, listen, and playing pleasure via the ever-popular downloads section. You’ll find a constant supply of forward-thinking tunes—ranging from dancefloor weapons to haunting ambience and cerebral beat-driven outings—from rising and established artists the world over. We then tabulate the download numbers every month and announce the 10 most popular tracks from the month prior. Now that we are midway through November, it’s time to announce October’s most popular tracks.

Last month’s top downloads were filled mostly with original cuts—only three of the top 10 were edits or remixes—with the top five arriving from a group of well known artists, including Dutch house don Tom Trago, Romanian trio Premiesku, Howl Ensemble, Roe Deers & Curses, and industrial techno linchpins AnD.

October’s 10 most popular XLR8R downloads have been assembled into a list below and can be grabbed for free by following their respective links. In addition, all 10 tracks have been compiled into one convenient file, which can be downloaded via WeTransfer below.

Premiere: Stream a Cut from Damon Wild’s Upcoming LP on Function’s Infrastructure

Damon Wild will release a new LP on Function’s Infrastructure label.

Cosmic Path will be Wild’s first full-length since Downtown Worlds back in 2004. It is also his first proper solo release on Infrastructure, despite having an ongoing musical relationship with Function, real name Dave Sumner, since 1991. Sumner’s earliest Function material came out Wild’s Synewave in the latter half of the ’90s when both artists were residing in New York.

The 15-track LP established what the artists call “the cosmic connection” and features “Space Race,” a 1998 track that Wild put on his own Synewave label as Nitevision. Sumner says “Space Race” “was inspired by the view I had from my [Manhattan] studio on the 15th floor, overlooking Madison Square Garden and the Empire State Building. Damon was coming by nearly every day. I’ll never forget the day he came by after making it and playing it as we looked out over the city.”

The album is also another mark of Infrastructure’s return, the label which Sumner relaunched in 2014 with help from Ed Davenport (a.k.a Inland).

Rodney Hazard ‘Agua’ feat. A+A

Rodney Hazard is a multifaceted artist with a focus on music and art direction. Drawing from a wide range of inspiration, Rodney’s work is a direct reflection of his left-field way of thinking. The son of a Haitian mother and an American Indian/African American father, he fused the rhythms of these cultures with the futuristic sounds of bands like Radiohead, Mount Kimbie, and As Tall As Lions as well as using sounds from his West Indian roots. By day he works at VICE media as an Art Director and by night he DJs.

“Agua” featuring Roc Nation‘s A+A is one of many singles that will be rolled out over in anticipation of the release of Saint or Savage, Rodney Hazard’s new LP. Grab it now via the WeTransfer button below.
