EGO follows releases from Fisky, Jan Amit, and Fibertalk, with six cuts that look to “celebrate the artist’s journey within his own psyche, sensuality, and perception of reality.” Musically, EGO sits in the realm of modern, experimental R&B; atmospheric bass-heavy cuts sitting on the fringe of the genre.
Ahead of the release next month, you can stream the EP’s single via the player below.
Rone‘s latest album, Mirapolis, will drop via Infiné Music next week.
The latest offering from the acclaimed French artist features a range of collaborations that finds the producer working with the likes of Saul Williams, Bryce Dessner of The National, Kazu Makino of Blonde Redhead, and many more across 12 vivid, multi-colored tracks. A concept album of sorts, the title and its contents look to sonically envision Rone’s early memories of amusement parks and circuses, as well as the 1927 film Metropolis. Like its subject matter, the album is a fluorescent ride through kaleidoscopic beats and winding synth arrangements.
Ahead of the release next week, Rone has shared the latest single, “Down for the Cause,” a beat-driven piece of psychedelia which also features Blonde Redhead vocalist Kazu Makino’s soothing vocals.
You can stream the new single below, with the album available for pre-order here.
In September of 2016, Onyx Collective, a jazz ensemble who had been performing throughout New York for years in both rugged DIY spaces and esteemed clubs, quietly released their debut album 2nd Ave Rundown on vinyl via Supreme. In the ensuing year, they would continue to build an underground profile in the city, in spite of the fact that none of their recordings existed online. Now, they make their proper debut through the release of three projects (two EPs and an LP) via Big Dada.
Lower East Suite Part One is the first installment of three. To coincide with the announcement, they’re sharing the lead single from the EP, “Fruit Stand”— a measured and soulful track, and a good introduction for those unfamiliar with Onyx Collective’s unique style of jazz.
Titled Lower East Suite the recordings that make up the three releases are taken from Onyx’ performances over the past year. Storefronts, bars, and street corners act as both venues and studios for Onyx Collective. Many of the highly atmospheric songs from Lower East Suite Part One take their names from the addresses where they were recorded: “172 Forsyth St.,” “175 Canal St.,” “Market St.”

Bibio has shared a beautiful new track from his upcoming album, Phantom Brickworks.
The nine-track collection is a collection of “mostly improvised musical pieces, that for some years now, have provided me with a mental portal into places and times—some real, some imaginary, some a combination of both,” Bibio explains. “Human beings are highly sensitive to the atmospheres of places, which can be enhanced or dramatically altered when you learn about the context of their history. Echoes and voices can sometimes be heard, in some way or another. Places sometimes have things to say.”
“The landscape is ever changing. There are many places that have been abandoned, only to become hidden among plant life, often making them more beautiful in the process. There were also some beautiful places, claimed by force and deliberately buried forever, never to be seen again. This track has always taken me to lost and overgrown places in my mind, but it was the submerged quality of the music that led me to one particular place.”—Bibio

Epizode Festival takes place on Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam from December 31 to January 10, 2018; and HYTE will take over the main stage for three days of the event January 5, 7, and 9, 2018. Having spent seven years in his adopted home of London steadily crafting a hazy, ambiguous identity that fuses ambient onto drone and techno, Tom Hang (a.k.a Lobster Theremin boss Jimmy Asquith) finally steps up the the plate with To Be Held In A Non Position, a one-take LP that explores extended themes of isolation, loneliness, personal loss, disconnection, and reconnection with reality and (self)-identity.
Through his long-lost label Tidy Bedroom—on which To Be Held In A Non Position will be released—Tom Hang engages in a more introspective path, exploring sonic territories that find an echo with dislocated past experiences.
Tom Hang’s previous releases have come via London experimental powerhouse Where To Now?, with an effusive live cassette, Tidy Bedroom Versions 2009-2013, released in February 2015. Later followed by an organic, textural techno EP The New World released via the same imprint in September 2016.

After supporting major French electronic acts such as Rone, Agoria, and Thylacine, InClose, at the young age of 22, is about to release his second EP Synchronized—a “turning point” in his artistic direction. Darker and more impulsive, it’s described as “a new chapter” for the producer.
Ahead of the November 3 release of his new EP, you can grab “White Lack,” an unreleased track, via the WeTransfer button below.
Stimulator Jones is a new multi-instrumentalist and singer on the funk scene from Roanoke, VA. After his start in the music world as a hip-hop DJ, he began writing songs, and his ballad “Soon Never Comes” was featured on the Stones Throw compilation Sofie’s SOS Tape. Peanut Butter Wolf took note and immediately signed Jones to his label. A singer and multi-instrumentalist who can play anything you set in front of him—-from banjo and fiddle to harmonica and sitar—Stimulator insists on playing all the instruments on his songs himself, for complete and total control over the results.
“Need Your Body,” which is streaming below, is said to be “a taste of his debut album” out early next year.
Back & Forward — a five-tracker — will be the label’s seventh release, following on from EPs by Felipe Venegas, Federico Molinari, and last year’s Ricardo Villalobos & Argenis Brito collaboration. It will be the label’s first release of the year, and the second time the Chilean-Swiss duo have collaborated; they launched the imprint in 2012 with the Better Than Less EP.
Aesthetically speaking, Back & Forward is what you’d expect from the pair: five expertly produced minimal house tunes. “The Spiral,” “Sonico,” and the title track are darker affairs, perfect for the after-hours; while “Blue Rally” and and “Ocio” are more playful though typically off-kilter cuts.
