Luke Black ‘Peter’s Whip’

Chord Records just dropped their second release, a split EP from Dudley Strangeways and label head Luke Black.

Titled Split, the EP follows the label’s inaugural release, a deep and intricate four-tracker from Matthew Burton, with two another four trippy dancefloor cuts. On the a-side, Dudley takes care of proceedings with two snaking grooves that hypnotize with floating atmospherics and sweeping instrumentation; while Black handles the b-side with a low-slung groover in “The New Man” and the dubbed-out “Platoon.”

In support of the release, Black has offered up a bonus cut “Peter’s Whip,” a mutating 10-minute house journey, as one of today’s XLR8R downloads, available via WeTransfer below.

Egopusher ‘Blood Red’

Next week, Egopusher—a Swiss duo made up of Tobias Preisig on violin and synths, and Alessandro Giannelli on drums and synths—will release their debut long-player, Blood Red, on Pusher Records.

Blood Red is the culmination of over 100 live gigs and four successive years of jam sessions. Each track on the LP follows this lineage and was a result of a live jam, recorded over a long and intense period in Zurich, Berlin, London, and a small Swiss town called Zofingen. The tracks would be jammed, then shelved in a Dropbox account, before revisiting sometime later with producer David Hofmann for arranging and recording sessions.

In support of the upcoming release, the duo have offered up the album’s title track as one of today’s XLR8R downloads. Recorded on a cold winter evening in Berlin, “Blood Red” is a searing cinematic journey with soaring synth lines, slow-mo grooves, and flickering textures that recall the work of artists such as John Hopkins and Max Cooper.

You can grab “Blood Red” via WeTransfer below, with the full album available for pre-order here.

Watch a Haunting Video From Francis Harris and Gabe Hedrick’s Aris Kindt

October 20 will see the launch of Francis HarrisKingdoms label with the new LP from Aris Kindt, his collaborative project with Gabe Hedrick.

Swann and Odette follows on from 2015’s Floods with a collection of tracks that, although keeping in line with the shoegaze house style set out on Floods, bury deeper into the mist and noise. The grooves slow down and stretch out, the melodies more opaque and hazy, and the album as a whole more dreamlike and expansive.

With this first release, Kingdoms lays out a mission statement for the sound and ethos they will be pushing, focusing on an eclectic mix of club-inspired jazz, ambient, left-field electronic music, and reissues of little-known obscurities.

Ahead of the release of Swann and Odette, you can stream the beautiful and, at times, haunting video for album cut “Still Undivided” in full via the player above. You can pre-order Swann and Odettehere.

Francis Harris will also embark on a selection of Kingdoms tour dates this month, which you can find below.

Tour Dates:

October 07 – Zogreb, Croatia
October 13 – Panama City, Panama
October 20 – Brooklyn – Panther Room
