Hodge Returns to Livity Sound

Hodge will release a new EP on Livity Sound, titled No Single Thing.

The Bristol-based producer has long had associations with the UK imprint and its sublabel, Dnuos Ytivil: in 2014 he released Amor Fati / Renegades on the latter, and he’s also previously appeared on both outlets with a variety of other remixes, collaborations, and split releases. Elsewhere, he has released on Hemlock Recordings, No Corner, and Berceuse Heroique, to name a few.

No Single Thing EP is scheduled for June 30 release, with clips streamable below.

Makeness Shares New Track

On June 16, Kyle Molleson (a.k.a. Makeness) will drop Temple Works, the first release on his Temple Works imprint.

Following on from the previously shared “Carved,” the EP’s emotive and atmospheric opening cut, Molleson has passed over the hard-hitting “Micro Boss,” which buries itself into deeper and darker pastures.

Temple Works‘ origin dates back to Molleson’s time in Leeds when he recorded a friend’s percussion project (G-Bop Orchestra) at an old textile mill known as Temple Works—the space’s natural, cavernous reverb is weaved into the EP’s title track. Leeds’ Cosmic Slop party and its world-class bespoke soundsystem also furthered Molleson’s love for club spaces, which can be heard throughout the EP in its dancefloor focus.

Temple Works is out June 16 on Temple Works and can be pre-ordered here, with “Micro Boss” and “Carved” available to stream below.

Peggy Gou Remixes Jimpster

Her remix, which is streamable below, “goes deep and musical whilst retaining an energetic drive for the dancefloor.” It is her first official remix to date.

The cut is joined on the EP by a remix from West Coast native Urulu and two originals from the LP.

Philipp Gorbachev & The Naked Man ‘Skinny Bones’

Philipp Gorbachev, the Russian musician and DJ, has been throwing killer parties and making some of the most innovative and exciting electronic music to come out of Moscow in years. In 2014 he released his debut album but when invited to perform a live Boiler Room set of the material featured on it, he decided that he wanted to take things to another level rather than be just another DJ stood motionless behind decks. “I could have just gone out there with linked CDJs but I had this rush in my veins,” he says of his decision to form a band for the performance, which he did by advertising on Craigslist and holding casting sessions. The resulting concoction was not something locked into a 4/4 beat or synonymous with techno or house but rather a much more organic, groove-based sound with funk-strutting bass lines and live drums that rolled and flurried around the beats and squelchy synths that jumped around leading the charge of the songs along with Gorbachev’s Damo Suzuki-like vocals.

The success of this performance led to the band—also featuring Marco Rivagli and Kevin Bucquet—to begin to create new material as a fresh outfit, separate from the solo work of Philipp. The finished seven-track album is a wild ride that jumps genres, switches paces, and alters tones frequently.

While Gorbachev cites a range of influences from Beck to Blind Willie Johnson as being core to him, the primary motivation is the live nature of the project itself. “The main influence is the constant live experience I have as a performer. I want to get the most out of every party, every jam, and every dancefloor.

Fred P Returns to Mule Musiq

Fred Peterkin (a.k.a Fred P) will soon release 7, his latest LP and the final entry his FP-Oner album trilogy for Japan’s Mule Musiq.

The New York producer has the FP-Oner as his outlet for deep and introspective sounds ever since he launches the alias in 2014 with the 5 LP, and he followed this release last year with 6. 7, scheduled for July release, completes the series.

Peterkin explains that he have 7 bring together the esoteric themes established in the trilogy’s previous chapters: “The record 5 was intended to introduce a meditative energy within a rhythmic construct, as the number 5 represents the dynamic and unpredictable. The album 6 is of an earthly and more harmonious discord… Finally, with 7, my goal is to merge the two into balance, as one focused state of mind, as 7 is the thinker beyond understanding or beyond the illusion.”

Peterkin’s last full-length, named Escapism, landed just a few months ago via his own Soul People Music imprint and credited to The Incredible Adventures Of Captain P.

Fabio Monesi Up Next on Creme Organization

Fabio Monesi will provide Creme Organization‘s latest release on July 17 with the Riot EP.

Riot will be Monesi’s debut on Creme Organization, following on from a 2016 run that included outings on his own Wilson and Hardmoon labels, and an EP on Russian Torrent Versions. The EP features four gritty club cuts in Monesi’s analog-driven style, providing a lesson in raw dancefloor dynamics.

Snippets of Riot can be streamed below, with the EP available to pre-order here.

Run Dust Shares New Video and Track Download

Later this week, In Paradisum will release the new album from Luke Calzonetti (a.k.a. Run Dust), titled Leisure Village.

The eight-track LP follows a string of tape releases on Opal Tapes and Tesla Tapes and two full-lengths on In Paradisum, both of which dropped in 2015. As you can most likely infer from the labels he has released on, Calzonetti’s music sits left of center, with eerie, dub-inflicted collages flowing through jarred rhythms and deep, engulfing low-end frequencies. There’s a subtle beauty to Calzonetti’s work that really shines through on Leisure Village, a quality that has further manifested with a move from Germany to the mountainous NY region of the Catskills.

Alongside the music, Calzonetti and In Paradisum have released a set of videos that look to explore suburbia via voyeur-ish found footage and Sims-like animations. The latest video is for “Tetley Scraps” and can be watched via the player above, with the video for the album’s title track below.

You can also download “Tetley Scraps” via WeTransfer below, with the album available for pre-order here.

Loicc ‘Der Nacht’

For its sixth outing, Australian label Cult Trip released Sydney producer Loicc‘s Get Myself To It EP.

Since launching in 2014, Cult Trip has released 12″s from artists such as Grey People, J. Albert, Elite Athlete, and 2200. Its latest, Get Myself To It, is Loicc’s debut release and features four club-ready cuts that showcase Loicc’s diverse influences and idiosyncratic style. Over the four tracks, Loicc presents his take on lo-fi tinged house, gritty and slow techno, and warped electro, all tied together with a finesse rarely seen on a debut.

Get Myself To It was released on May 19 and can be grabbed here, with b-side cut “Der Nacht” available to download via WeTransfer below.
