Elijah Simmons ‘Close To You’ (Si Tew Remix)

Elijah SimmonsDelphi EP was released by Inside Out Records back in October of last year. Partly inspired by his travels in Greece—outside of throwing parties in London, Simmons also holds a residency is Athens—Delphi featured three brooding tracks of dreamy house and signaled that Simmons was a producer to watch in the coming years.

Now, the EP returns in the form of a remix package, with reworks from Naduve, Stevie R & Alex Zed, Max Belabrov, and Si Tew—Si Tew turned in two mixes, one of which is being offered as today’s XLR8R download. Like the originals, the reworks all sit in the deeper realms of house, floating interpretations ripe for the dancefloor.

You can grab Si-Tew’s remix via WeTransfer below, with the full EP available over at Juno.

Jori Hulkkonen’s New Video is a Nostalgic Trip; Watch it Now

Back in 2015, My Favorite Robot Records released the self-titled album Nuclear Winter Garden, an alias of Finnish DJ and producer Jori Hulkkonen.

The album was inspired by Hulkkonen’s night of the same name, which found him playing extended sets of jazz, folk, classical, avant-garde and indie sounds that wouldn’t fit into his usual DJ sets. The project reflects Hulkkonen’s original vision of electronic music, a futuristic mix of technology and melancholic escapism. The reissue of Nuclear Winter Garden arrives under the Jori Hulkkonen name and with a video for album cut “A New Cold War,” which uses old documentary films to project its nostalgic message, as Hulkkonen explains:

“The video for “A New Cold War” is a collage of imagery taken from various educational documentaries from the late ’40s through to the ’80s. As a kid they were the stuff of nightmares, and going through all these films while editing the video was surprisingly disturbing. As the barely audible vocoded opening lines in the song go “It never came this far, but quite close.” Now, let’s go all the way, world!”

You can watch the video in full via the player below, with the reissue available to purchase via Beatport.

Hear a Track from Distal’s New EP on Anarchostar

Anarchostar‘s fourth release will arrive from label head Distal on March 17.

The five-track Psychomagic EP finds Distal returning to his roots and the styles and sounds on which he built his career, from funky 2step and garage to slamming Chicago house, juke, and techno. Although the EP anchors itself to Distal’s history, its execution is undoubtedly from an artist at the top of his game and in total control of his craft. So far, the EP has garnered support from a range of radio shows and DJs including RinseFM, SubFM, NTS, Machinedrum, Cooly G, Etch, and DJ Shiftee.

As is the case with Anarchostar, the release drops with bespoke artwork and a comic—you can check them out at the Anarchostar website—and can be grabbed digitally and on CD via Anarchostar’s Bandcamp page.

Ahead of the release later this week, you can stream bass-heavy EP cut “Red Pill Jam” in full via the player below.

Hostom Returns with New EP

Hostom is back with a new two-track EP, titled Hostom004.

Hostom004 will be the mysterious and unidentified producer’s first EP since the limited edition HostomZZZ which dropped in June 2016, and it will be the fifth release on the label–the first three of which arrived in quick succession and brought much widespread acclaim to the Parisian label of the same name having been played out by many of the world’s leading DJs.

Interestingly, this latest release sees the Hostom logo evolve and mature–this time with more details, including ears and facial expression. See the previous logo for HostomZZZ below, which, according to label, announced Hostom’s “hibernation.”

Ahead of the EP’s April 3 release, snippets are streamable below.

A video of Cabanne and Lowris playing the B-side is also available below.
