Pépé Bradock Becomes Baby Craddock

Elusive and eccentric French house producer Pépé Bradock has unveiled an EP he is releasing under a new alias—Baby Craddock.

Bradock has been active in the house music world since the ’90s, and was responsible for some of the most infamous and memorable tracks out there: “Deep Burnt,” “Path of Most Resistance” and “Life” to name a few. In more recent years he has put out a string of far-out, psychedelic takes on the genre, mainly through his own Atavisme, as well as an acid-heavy EP on Absurd.

The Frenchman has now announced his latest project—a six track EP under the alias Baby Craddock, via Atavisme. Enigmatic as ever, the release comes with description, “Braddock is dead, long live the Baby Craddock.” Across the cuts, it appears to chop through downtempo house and trippy ambient stylings, in a similar vein to those recent releases.

Baby Craddock will drop on August 26. Preview snippets and pre-order the EP at Deejay.de and Phonica.

Galdoors Unveils New Junes EP; Stream Snippets Here

Galdoors has unveiled details of its next release—a three track EP by Junes, due out later in July.

Neil McDermott (a.k.a. Junes) was featured in our Bubblin’ Up series earlier this year: the Berlin-based DJ and producer is the co-founder of Galdoors (alongside brother Tames), who has racked up a string of well-received house and techno EPs via the label. His latest effort, Trails, follows on from 2014’s Root Pattern, and is described by the label as a trio of “whacked-out shufflers.”

Trails is scheduled for release on July 25 and can be pre-ordered at Juno. Check out this mix that McDermott put together for us earlier this year for a taste of what to expect, and stream snippets from the forthcoming EP below.

Dreems ‘Charcoals’ (The Finger Prince ‘Webber’ Version)

Flying the flag for Australia in today’s download is Angus Gruzman (a.k.a. Dreems). Up until this point, the Sydney-born producer has mainly channeled his releases through the Multi Culti imprint he runs alongside Montreal’s Thomas Von Party, though his latest dropped via the recently established Le Temps Perdu. You’re more than likely to have come across his work in some shape or form: a member of The Bang Gang DJs, he’s also known to work under aliases such as Gus Da Hoodrat and Angelo Cruzman.

We are able to offer a download of a cut taken from that most recent EP as Dreems, the Charcoals EP. An acid-tinged EP, it’s a tribute to one of the land down under’s favorite traditions—barbecuing. Its title track was reworked by The Finger Prince (another of Gruzman’s projects, alongside Francis Xavier), offering a slightly heavier take than the original. Popping along at a laidback pace, the duo shift from emphatic acid stabs to distorted and bleepy variants, in what could be a real dancefloor weapon.

Download “Charcoals” (The Finger Prince ‘Webber’ Version) below via WeTransfer. The EPis out now, and can be purchased from Juno.

Stream Aphex Twin’s New EP in Full

British station BBC Radio 6 aired Aphex Twin‘s upcoming EP in its entirety yesterday.

Rumors of Richard D James’ latest outing began roughly a month ago when Warp Records circulated flyers advertising the new material. Soon after, a video for one of its tracks was in circulation—”CIRKLON3 [ Колхозная mix ],” which was put together by 12 year old YouTube channel host Ryan Wyer.

Now, in the run up to the release of the EP on Friday July 8, BBC Radio 6 has exclusively streamed the whole of the EP.

Stream the EP here (Cheetah begins at 01:00:10). For those with Bleep accounts, it is also available to stream and pre-order from their online store.

Adultrock ‘OK’

Back with his first release since his Chants EP via Bodytonic, Irish producer Adultrock (a.k.a Gav Elstead) has just dropped his second EP on the Dublin-based imprint, Push and Pull. Getting his start in early 2013 while playing in a multitude of indie bands, Elstead decided to make a go of it on his own and started crafting a more club-oriented sound. Coupled with his songwriting ability, Adultrock’s sound is informed by his ability to craft concrete track structures which enable him to improvise live and create a hypnotic, fluid, and unpredictable performances.

Following the release of his sophomore EP, Adultrock has offered up the cut “OK” as one of today’s XLR8R downloads. Using a racing drum arrangement with wide and brittle claps, the track’s fluctuating bassline is paired with a wet and thick synth layout that will act as the perfect soundtrack for any “after-dark seediness” you may find yourself getting into.

You can download “OK” below via WeTransfer.

Exclusive: Stream a Scorching House Cut from Waxtefacts’ Sophomore Release

Spearheaded by artists Librarian, Strip Steve, and Straydogpalace, the burgeoning imprint Waxtefacts is one that caught XLR8R’s attention from its inception. The squad’s debut release/compilation, WXTFX001, is a four-track EP that possesses great variety and an unrivaled style. From Librarian’s repetitive, lo-fi, and fresh reworks of Gang Star’s “Mass Appeal” and Souls of Mischief’s “93 ’til Infinity” to Strip Steve’s wandering and contemplative “Last One and I’m Out,” the label’s debut is an absolute win. The vinyl-only release sold-out extremely fast, setting the stage for what was bound to be an enticing follow-up.

Today, Waxtefacts released WXTFX002, featuring Strip Steve, Interstate, DJ Storch, and Real D. Interstate and Real D’s contribution to the EP’s A-side consist of the two sweltering, jazzy, and hard-hitting tracks “Vanice Beach” and “Rhodes That,” while Strip Steve and DJ Storch’s offerings on the opposite end present more of a hollow, lo-fi aura that creates a far off, dance-inducing vibe. Waxtefacts has kindly offered up the EP cut “Rhodes That” as an exclusive here on XLR8R and we are pleased to be hosting for these hard working fellas. You can stream the track in full below.

Giorgio Moroser ‘Can’t Stay’

Not to be confused with the production of Italian-Disco pioneer Giorgio Moroder, New York-based experimental artist Giorgio Moroser approaches his production in a much different way, one that more resembles a sacred ritual put on by a large and brooding phantom. Quitting his Black Metal band and leaving his native Norway for NYC two years ago, Giorgio started creating music that combined his love for hip-hop, horror films, and UK Garage while holding onto his Black Metal roots. After completing his self-titled debut EP in May of this year, Moroser buried the master tapes along, with a vile of his blood, three of his favorite records, and other personal artifacts. Digging them up after 23 days, Moroser believed the act would give the music a “literal earthly quality.”

A truly unique concoction of sounds, Moroser has offered up the EP cut “Can’t Stay” as one of today’s XLR8R downloads. Using distant, pitched, off-kilter vocals that sway alongside a steel drum, warbling synths, and score-like strings, the eerie and genderless tune captures the essence of zombies looking for a brain snacks in a post trap world.
