Daniel Bortz is scheduled to release the third part of his “Bella Avgvsta” series next week. Overall, this is his most personal release, and a worthy conclusion to the series.

Berlin-based producer, Guillaume Coutu-Dumont, has a new collaborative full-length landing next month on the New Kanada imprint. For this latest project, the Montréal native worked alongside twin brother, Gabriel Coutu-Dumont, and Frédéric Aubourg (aka Oleg Poliakov,) under the Muséum alias.
According to RA, the label has said the LP: “is characterized by coniferous forests consisting mostly of whispering pines, spruces and larches.” Aubourg has also described it (via his Facebook fan page,) as a: “contemplative and atmospheric album.”
The experimental album, took about two years of recording sessions—spread across the cities of Montréal, Paris and Berlin—to be completed.
Little Dead Things will land via New Kanada on December 7, 2015.

Blooming producer Boris Kruyyer (aka Octual) has in short order become an integral component of the Netherland’s techno scene. A native of Holland, Kruyyer splits his time between honing his productions skills and running the nascent Amsterdam-based music label Anagram. Only a few days prior to this, the fledgling label released Octual’s four-track debut EP, Escaping the Gyre, and Kruyyer has been kind enough to offer up the EP’s title track as today’s XLR8R download. According to Anagram, the appellation of the release is “a mysterious and symbolic title elucidating to the loss of oneself in music,” which seems wholly appropriate considering the mesmerizing, vibrating groove that irradiates from this shrouded, techno-heavy release. “Escaping the Gyre” begins with throbbing low ends and shivering, rearing synth lines that lead into a hustle of wavering chords and a stride of high hats that exhibit a level of dancefloor awareness and grasps at the heart of Amsterdam’s vibrant techno scene.

Oasis Festival, which was launched earlier this year, and featured acts such as DJ Harvey, Carl Craig and Ellen Allien, has announced that it will return in 2016.
Unlike anything else going on in Morocco, the Fellah Hotel (situated on the outskirts of Marrakech) welcomed names from the world of house and techno such as DJ Harvey, Carl Craig, Ellen Allien, Âme, Cassy, tINI, BLOND:ISH, Gerd Janson and Danny Daze for the first Oasis Festival. Riding on its success, the same team will return in September 2016, to provide an experience that they argue is “the perfect fusion of festival and holiday.”

Originally getting his start as a member of the German electro-punk band Frittenbude, producer Jakob Häglsperger (aka Kalipo) began his solo career last year with his debut album, Yaruto, and is set to release his sophomore LP, Wanderer, via the Hamburg-based label Audiolith on January 22. Keeping himself busy with two musical projects, most of the tracks that appear on Wanderer were composed on the road while touring solo or with his Frittenbude outfit, hence the name of the album.
Changing up his sound since his last solo release, his new album focuses more on an overriding, four-on-the-floor dancefloor vibe that is substantial and firm in its confidence, bringing about an authentic sound that is both ethereal and obtainable. Each song featured on his forthcoming Wanderer album draws reference to a particular place the artist has traveled to during his many musical journeys. For example, “Banana Garden” and “Institute of Cotton Wool,” which is being featured today as an exclusive stream on XLR8R, were written when Kalipo was “stuck in a bamboo hut in the middle of Thai jungle with a 40 degree fever and nothing else but headphones, a sampler and penicillin for company.”

SXMusic Festival is a new five-day boutique festival being held next spring on the island of Saint Martin, in the Caribbean.
The first wave of artists includes Jamie Jones, Dubfire, DJ Tennis, Lee Burridge, Adriatique, Thugfucker, Blond:ish, Francesca Lombardo and Psychemagik. More acts are expected to be revealed in the following weeks.
The festival will take place in different locations throughout the tropical island, including a secluded forest retreat, “The Beach” location, famous for being situated under the SXM airport runway (where party-goers can feel the rush of the planes flying above them, in DC10 fashion,) and the bay location—situated in a cove nearby.

It’s always been about pushing boundaries for Circus Recordings boss Yousef. The Liverpool-based multi-threat has blurred the lines of house and techno for years, via a seasoned mix of classic and futuristic sounds that’s elevated him into the upper echelons of dance. He’s used his label and parties as means to showcase some of the industry’s most revered influencers, reinvigorating the likes of house vet Harry Romero while forecasting the ascendance of talents like Eats Everything. Never one to rest on his laurels, Yousef continues to forge ahead—recent months have yielded an acclaimed EP for Ellen Allien’s BPitch Control, a debut on Kerri Chandler’s Madtech imprint, and reworks for the likes of John Digweed and Nick Muir. To close out 2015, the label boss has come back to Circus imprint with three bumping cuts ripe with old-school influences.
The strength of this EP resides in Yousef’s dynamic use of old and new, tastefully pairing golden-age samples with atmospheric tech-house swells to create modern dancefloor burners. The title track sets off the venture with a bouncing two-bar–boogie riff that repeats throughout, setting a mantra for squelching acid crescendos that dive in and out of a funky groove. “Touch Me” dials back the tempo while maintaining the intensity, kicking off with a pumping percussive section before a chopped vocal unravels and chants for a thunderous pulse. The final track, “Wannabe,” quickens the pace with techy ’90s-style programming that breaks to an authoritative analog drum blast. It’s another quality result from Yousef, who delivers his latest with a nod to the past.

Moiré has signed to Ghostly International’s Spectral Sound for his latest single, “Mirrors.”
Following on from his debut LP, Shelter, and not to mention his audio/visual collaboration with Disguise, the latest single from the London-based producer attempts to push past his previous work into the unfamiliar, “to break into the other world,” as he explains, “The one that’s hidden behind what you hear, and to get lost in it.” Sitting in opposition to Shelter, “Mirrors” is Moiré “focusing entirely on music, beyond what I know.”

DGTL Festival has released the full line up for its 2016 edition, along with ticket sales for the internationally anticipated festival that is bound to take place during Easter Weekend. Recently, DGTL had already announced the first names to make an appearance at the event—including Nina Kraviz as one of the festival’s main headliners. Now, a record 70 artists have been released, spanning a wide array of musical styles and statures, from the most promising of upcoming talent to acclaimed, long-time trailblazers. Next to the music, DGTL will again focus a great deal of attention on its other two pillars: DGTL Revolution—DGTL’s on-going effort towards the goal of becoming a 100% green, zero-footprint festival—and DGTL Art, the organisation’s cultural dimension focussing on industrial, dynamic art installations that can be found across the festival terrain. Following this year’s theme, installation art, DGTL announced that the main attraction this year is the Transmission Tower, a 25-meter high installation, which will be at the centre of the terrain. The tower is connected to three smaller towers, all inter-communicating with each other via Morse code. At night, the tower will transform into a beaming installation with smoke, LEDs, strobes, and laser beams.
DGTL has also announced XLR8R as one of its featured partners during the event. XLR8R will also be hosting its own stage during the festival. More info will be announced in the lead up to the end of March 2016.
