DrumTalk “Everything (Version)”

After dropping his “Time” single via the label last year, DrumTalk is set to return to the Huntleys + Palmers fold with a self-titled EP later this month. Here, the London producer has chosen to reimagine his own “Everything” production—one of four tracks set to arrive on his upcoming EP—sharpening the driving club effort’s percussion while stripping away the original tune’s ghostly vocal layers away entirely. DrumTalk’s “Version” of the track is hardly a sparse affair because of this though; rather, the producer fills the extra space with a rush of soaring synth lines that gradually gain mass as the production rides its full-bodied skip. Ahead of its release on March 16 via Huntleys + Palmers, the record from which DrumTalk’s original “Everything” emanates can be previewed below, where the producer’s generous free offering can also be grabbed.

Aphex Twin Preps New Single for Warp

Since returning from a lengthy hiatus with his Syro album late last year, Aphex Twin has appeared to be cleaning out his archives, uploading hours of unreleased material to his SoundCloud page and dropping the Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments pt2 EP via Warp. Now, news of an upcoming white-label 12″ has surfaced: a three-track single led by “MARCHROMT30a Edit 2b 96,” an effort which originally appeared as a bonus to the Japanese release of Syro. In addition to that production, the upcoming record will also feature updated versions of LP cuts “XMAS_EVET10 [120] (thanaton3 mix)” and “MARCHROMT.”

MARCHROMT30a Edit 2b 96 will see a vinyl release via Warp on April 6 in Europe (and a day later in the US and Canada); until then, the upcoming record’s artwork and tracklist have been posted below.

Hear Pearson Sound’s Debut Album In Full

Ahead of its official release next week, the long-awaited debut album from Pearson Sound (a.k.a. David Kennedy) is now available to stream in full online. Titled Pearson Sound, the LP also marks the inaugural full-length from Hessle Audio, the label Kennedy co-founded back in 2007 with Ben UFO and Pangaea. Described as “characteristically minimalist in approach” and comprising “striking contrasts: bold, stark, and visceral, yet also subtle, harmonically complex, and deceptively playful,” the album sees an official release on March 9 and can be heard in full here courtesy of NPR.

Lokiboi “Untitled Tool 1”

Moscow-born Londoner Lokiboi will next land on Capital Bass with the Hood Cuts EP, a record which is said to present three ghetto house hybrids from the prolific producer heavy on machine-made rhythms. To get us all ready for the EP’s March 9 release, Lokiboi has passed along this plainly titled DJ tool to entice listeners. Stripped and focused, “Untitled Tool 1” digs into drum-machine percussion, lacing its busy kicks and claps with a squirming analog bass line and a handful of generously tweaked hardware squelches. Ahead of the Hood Cuts EP’s release next week, the record can be previewed below, where the download of Lokiboi’s potent new club tool can also be found.

DJ Deep and Roman Poncet Ready New 12″ as Sergie Rezza

Veteran producer DJ Deep and fellow Frenchman Roman Poncet have embarked on a new collaborative project under the alias Sergie Rezza. Earlier this year, the pair announced that they’d signed two 12″s to Tresor under the Adventice moniker, the second of which arrives this month. But while previous efforts were said to focus on “modern and classic interpretations” of techno, the upcoming Mist EP reportedly enters more abstract territory, drawing from techno and noise. “What we do together is very different from the Roman Poncet records or from what I would personally produce by myself,” DJ Deep says of the collaboration. “In the process of working together, we experimented on sound quite a lot, playing with atmospheres and beats”

Due out on April 20 via French label Desire, Mist reportedly acts as a teaser for an album, which will be released later this spring. In the meantime, the record’s complete tracklist is on view below, where lead track “Misterious Shape” can also be streamed in full.

Cómeme Readies New Label Compilation

Matias Aguayo’s Cómeme label has detailed the fourth installment of its One Night in Cómeme series. The upcoming compilation pairs alternate versions of previously released cuts with some unreleased and “surprise” material. Represented contributors from within the Cómeme camp include Argentinian DJ/producer Ana Helder, Barnt (remixing Philipp Gorbachev), and recent XLR8R podcast contributor Lena Willikens, whose debut EP Phantom Delia was issued earlier this year. The compilation also recruits some new faces, among them rRoxymore, Borusiade, and Lord Byron.

One Night in Cómeme Vol. 4 sees a digital release on March 30, and its complete tracklist has been posted below.

Lindstrøm Unveils Collaborative LP with Todd Rundgren and Emil Nikolaisen

Billed as a “spiritual magnum opus,” Norwegian disco mastermind Hans-Peter Lindstrøm (or simply just Lindstrøm), longtime musician Todd Rundgren, and Emil Nikolaisen (of the Oslo-based Serena-Maneesh outfit) have collaborated on a new album, Runddans, which will see its release this spring via the Smalltown Supersound label. The album will be presented as one single track that spans 39 minutes, and is said to fuse Rundgren’s “trippy… blue-eyed soul” with Lindstrøm’s “disco epics” and Nikolaisen’s “studio trickery” to result in a “cosmic mix of soul, synth, pop, and disco.” Furthermore, the collaboration is said to have originated from a wintery 2012 studio session in Oslo, where the three musicians met and began to develop what would become Runddans.

Lindstrøm’s, Rundgren’s, Nikolaisen’s collaborative LP will officially land on May 5 via Smalltown Supersound. Before then, the forthcoming record’s artwork can be found below, along with the titles for the elongated musical piece’s various movements (which will be split across four sides of vinyl). In addition, Lindstrøm revealed a new solo single, “Home Tonight,” just last week, a stream of which can be found here.

Braille Readies Full-Length Album for Friends of Friends, Streams New Track

Praveen Sharma (a.k.a. Braille) has never shied away from a collaboration, teaming up on projects like Sepalcure (with Machinedrum), Praveen and Benoît (with Benoît Pioulard), and most recently Rights (alongside Seafloor). Now, the New York-based artist has chosen to focus on his longstanding solo moniker, Braille, for the upcoming Mute Swan LP, which follows closely behind his Everyone’s Crazy EP that dropped via LA’s Friends of Friends label earlier this year. Returning to the imprint, Sharma’s upcoming record features appearances from Angelica Bess, Throwing Snow, Seafloor, Jesse Boykins III, and Olivia Sholler—all of whom are said to help Braille “invert hip-hop and house music influences into a deeply humanist, guest-vocal filled journey.”

In addition to the announcement, Sharma has shared a stream of “Better Than Nothing,” an LP cut which pairs Angelica Bess’ murky coos with jazzy waves of percussion. Nosaj Thing Details New LP; Hear a Track Now

Jason Chung (a.k.a. Nosaj Thing) has been contributing to LA’s electronic landscape for more than six years now, largely being affiliated with the city’s longstanding beat scene centered around the Low End Theory club night. On his forthcoming third full-length record, Fated, Chung appears ready to branch out a bit beyond his beat scene roots; describing the production process behind his new record, Chung says “I just tried to escape really, and escape even what’s going on in the music world.” Featuring guest contributions from Chicago rap talent Chance the Rapper and Sacramento artist Whoarei, Fated is also said to focus on a stripped-down approach and “a perpetual feeling of déjà vu.”

Along with the announcement of Fated, Nosaj Thing has shared lead single “Cold Stares,” a minimal R&B cut that finds Chance the Rapper delivering a humble verse over forlorn, swelling pads. BNJMN Launches BRACK Label, Preps New EP

In recent years, Berlin-based English producer Ben Thomas (a.k.a. BNJMN) has consistently crafted his own brand of atmospheric techno tools, releasing with an impressive list of labels including Delsin, Rush Hour, Svetlana Industries, and Stolen Kisses, among others. Now, Thomas has announced plans to launch an imprint of his own, BRACK, which will debut next month with a new BNJMN EP simply titled BRACK 001.

Ahead of the record’s relaese, the producer has shared a full stream of EP cut “Penumbra,” a skittering drum workout with operatic samples and slow-burning pads; before the EP drops on April 6, “Penumbra” can be heard using the player below. (via Resident Advisor)
