Eaves “Projector”

Hailing from New York, Eaves is set to debut on Seattle’s Hush Hush label next month with the four-track Hue EP. Pulled from the upcoming record is “Projector,” a fast-evolving production which builds its heavy-handed rhythms from booming kicks and bursts of noise that sound as if they originated from a hi-voltage machine in the midst of a complete breakdown. Initially focusing his efforts on the more heavy-handed side of the beatmaking spectrum, Eaves slowly tames “Projector” over time, gradually revealing the tasteful melodic flourishes and detailed textures which fit in the spaces between the effort’s harrowing rhythmic base. The East Coast artist’s “Projector” track can be downloaded below before Eaves’ Hue EP lands on March 23.

Andy Stott, Steffi, James Holden, Sherwood & Pinch, Session Victim, and More Announced for MUTEK 2015

With its 16th edition scheduled to take in place in Montreal in May, Montreal’s MUTEK festival has revealed the first wave of performers set to appear at the annual Canadian festival. Of the names included in this first announcement are Ostgut Ton regular Steffi (pictured above), Andy Stott (whose Mille & Andrea project is also on the bill), Border Community head James Holden, Sherwood & Pinch, Session Victim, Rrose, Atom™, Lucy, stateside producer Strategy, and Erased Tapes affiliate Rival Consoles, among others. Set to take place from May 27 -31, the full list of artists announced today for MUTEK’s 2015 edition can be found here.

In addition to the line-up announcement, MUTEK has also shared a mix pieced together by MUTEK programmer Vincent Lemieux and featuring tracks from a number of the artists slated to perform throughout this year’s festival. The hour-long MUTEK 2015 Preview mix can be streamed in full below, where the set’s full tracklist has also been included.

Laurent Garnier Returns to F Communications to Release Vinyl Box Set

Longstanding French producer and DJ Laurent Garnier has announced that he will release a limited-edition vinyl box set via his own F Communications label next month. Entitled Home Box, the collection will gather together tracks from the five EPs the veteran artist put out under his Garnier moniker last year on five different labels, including Still Music, 50 Weapons, MCDE, Musique Large, and Hypercolour. In addition, the box set will include a number of unreleased Garnier track as well as remixes from the likes of Voiski, Copy Paste Soul and Husbands.

Garnier—an alumni of our 20 Questions interview series—will play shows in Berlin, London, and Paris this weekend to support the release. Officially out on March 30, Home Box will include four 12″ vinyls and one CD, the full tracklists for which can be found below; the box set is limited to 1000 copies.

Jozef K + Winter Son “Loveless Vessel”

The pair of Manchester-based producers Jozef K and Winter Son have again combined their efforts for an EP’s worth of melancholic efforts. Their second collaborative outing, Jozef K + Winter Son’s Brave EP sees its release this week via the Rebirth label, featuring remixes from the increasingly essential Tuff City Kids outfit (a.k.a. former XLR8R podcast contributor Gerd Janson and Phillip Lauer) and Rebirth label head Shield. Pulled from the upcoming EP is “Loveless Vessel,” a patient track which initially arrives bathed in rich, echoing piano chords (and some carefully selected vocal snippets) before eventually laying into a four-on-the-floor bounce fueled by echoey hats and claps which drive the production forward across its six-minute run.

Watch the Third and Final Episode of Legowelt’s and Willie Burns’ Oddball Web Series

Last year, Legowelt and Willie Burns launched Relics of the Past, a bizarre online TV series which followed the pair as they smoked weed, played synthesizers, and embarked on a variety of galactic and spiritual adventures. Today, the third and final episode of Relics of the Past has arrived. Catching up with Legowelt and Burns after they have returned from being abducted by an alien creature of some sort, the oddball series’ final episode sees the pair jam out on their synths before heading to the streets to sling “space weed,” be chased by an alien robot, and help the series’ resident professor/gardner launch an “AI” network.

Check Out New Mixes from Anthony Naples and Palms Trax

Of the wave of new mixes to be shared in cyberspace today, those from Stateside producer/DJ Anthony Naples (pictured above) and Berlin-based Brit Palms Trax have particularly caught our ear.

First, in anticipation of his forthcoming debut LP for Four Tet’s Text label, Body Pill (which is set to arrive tomorrow), Anthony Naples has been enlisted to deliver a new mix for Resident Advisor‘s ongoing podcast series. Beginning with selections from Led Zepplin and Terry Riley, Naples’ effort is said to “build with the crispy house and techno bangers Naples is known for” before dipping into more funky territory as the 75-minute set comes to a close. Naples’ full RA mix can be streamed and downloaded here; a complete tracklist has not been shared at this time, though RA’s comments section has so far done a pretty good job of filling in the gaps.

Secondly, following closing behind last week’s announcement of his upcoming EP for Amsterdam label Dekmantel, rising Berlin producer Palms Trax has been tapped to deliver a new mix for the outpost’s fledgling series. An hour-long session, the mix focuses on an array of tropical and soul-burnt dancefloor cuts, keeping the groove steady for most all of its run. Also appearing without a tracklist, Palms Trax’s Dekmantel 005 mix can be streamed and downloaded in full below.

Santiago Salazar Reveals Upcoming Debut LP for Love What You Feel

Santiago Salazar has revealed details of his first release of the year: the Chicanismo LP. While the LA-based techno veteran and Underground Resistance affiliate has put out numerous 12″s over the years, many of them appearing on his own imprints (he runs Historia y Violencia with Silent Servant, Ican with Esteban Adame, and the Major People label), the forthcoming Chicanismo LP will serve as Salazar’s debut full-length release. According to Resident Advisor, the album is based off “the whole life experience of being a Chicano in Los Angeles that’s into dance music,” and is officially due out on May 19 via Love What You Feel, an imprint under the umbrella of Pittsburgh Track Authority’s Machine Age label group. Album previews have yet to surface, but both the record’s artwork and tracklist can be found below.

Trulz & Robin “Adventure (Usmev Remix)”

Next up on the Cymasonic label is Dance Music Therapy Volume 3, the third in a series of compilation EPs featuring artist from the label’s inner circle. Amongst Volume 3‘s efforts is this remix from Barcelona talent Usmev, who takes on longtime Oslo-based production pair Trulz & Robin‘s “Adventure” (the original version of which is also slated to appear on the compilation EP). A virtually beatless endeavor in its original form, Usmev transforms “Adventure” into a more club-ready affair, keeping the tracks airy atmosphere intact while lacing the production with a stomping kick-drum, lurching bassline, and much more throughout the rework’s 7-minute run. The budding Barcelona producer’s take on Trulz & Robin’s “Adventure” track can be downloaded below, where the forthcoming Dance Music Therapy Volume 3 EP can also be previewed ahead of its release tomorrow, February 17.

EPM Details Split EP from Robert Hood and Floorplan

Techno veteran Robert Hood will appear jointly with his soulful house-oriented Floorplan alias on a split EP for the EPM imprint. Hood, who recently supplied XLR8R with an exclusive podcast, has largely kept the two projects separate, although material from both appeared on December’s M-Print: 20 Years Of M-Plant Music, a compilation of standout tracks from his own label. While previews for the forthcoming “Shaker” b/w “Ritual” 12″ have yet to surface, the record will see an official release on March 30, and its artwork and tracklist are on view below. Selvy “Calliope’s Dream”

After making his debut in XLR8R‘s Downloads section last week with his remix of Russian producer Kito Jempere, Selvy has quickly returned with a new track of his own. Pulled from the Polish artist’s upcoming Compass EP, “Calliope’s Dream” is a breezy dancefloor effort, one that folds a tasteful amount of disco touches between its tropical melodies, understated guitar strums, and interwoven layers of lightly brushed percussion. Selvy’s “Calliope’s Dream” production can be downloaded below, where the burgeoning beatmaker’s Compass EP can also be streamed in full before it drops via Poland’s fledgling (but so far impressively reliable) Transatlantyk imprint on February 24.
