Stream Future Brown’s Debut LP for Warp in Full

After arriving on venerable UK label Warp late last year with the “Wanna Party” b/w “World’s Mine” 12″, Future Brown—the collaborative project of Fatima Al Qadiri, Asma Maroof and Daniel Pineda of Nguzunguzu, and Lit City Trax founder J-Cush—announced that a self-titled album was also in the works. The record features guest MCs and/or vocalists on each track, including Kelela, Chicago MC Tink, Ruff Sqwad members Rapid and Dirty Danger, and Roll Deep affiliates Roachee and Riko Dan, and can now be heard in its entirety here (courtesy of NPR) ahead of its official release on February 24.

Scuba Preps New Album, Shares Video

Scuba (a.k.a. Paul Rose) has revealed details of a forthcoming album, entitled Claustrophobia. According to a press release, the 10-track effort serves as a culmination to all previous outings—most recently the Phenix EP trilogy for Rose’s own Hotflush label—which have “zigzagged through bass, techno, and house, at times dark and contemplative, at others bright and anthemic.” The album is said to have been inspired by a performance at Japanese techno festival Labyrinth, and will see an official release on March 23 via Hotflush. Until then, a video for LP cut “Why You Feel So Low” can be watched here, and both its artwork and complete tracklist have been posted below.

Hear George FitzGerald Remix Jon Hopkins’ “Open Eye Signal”

Jon Hopkins‘ excellent Immunity LP (which we deemed the best record of 2013) continues to be the gift that keeps on giving. Well over a year on from its release, not only does the album still stand up as a fine listen, but the record has also given way to its own Asleep Versions EP, and provided material for a number of quality remixes, including a new one from UK producer—and recent Domino signing—George FitzGerald (pictured above).

Taking on Immunity standout “Open Eye Signal,” FitzGerald reshapes Hopkins’ original into a more dancefloor-aimed affair, fitting the tune’s darker textures between a steady four-on-the-floor while adding an array of pulsing synths and a slightly growling bassline to the procession. FitzGerald’s “Open Eye Signal” remix will see a digital release tomorrow (February 14), but can currently be streamed in full via the player below.

Clone Royal Oak Preps New EP from Sabre; Preview It Now

Clone Royal Oak has revealed plans to issue a new EP from rising Portuguese production pair Sabre, who have in the past placed releases on labels such as Tasteful Nudes and Willie Burns’ WT Records imprint. “If you’re looking for effective formula club tracks, then please skip through,” Clone warns in its description of Sabre’s upcomoing Morning Worship EP. Furthermore, the record is said to contain “four playful and emotive tracks without any of the modern club dogmas, [but] however, still strongly rooted in the more than 30-year-long tradition of our musical culture.”

From the sound of the EP preview Clone has provided, Sabre’s debut for the label appears to be a varied affair, one which ventures into both light and dark dancefloor territory, with plenty of percussion and off-kilter textures strewn throughout. The Portuguese duo’s forthcoming Morning Worship EP can be previewed via the player below before it arrives the coming weeks.

Kompakt Announces Upcoming LP from Dave DK; Hear a Track Now

Berlin-based producer David Krasemann (a.k.a. Dave DK) will issue his first LP for Cologne’s esteemed Kompakt label this spring. Entitled Val Maira, the album follows previous full-lengths for Müller Records and Moodmusic, which dropped in 2000 and 2007, respectively. More recently, Krasemann issued his Palmaille EP via Kompakt in 2013, a record which put the producer’s penchant for melodic dance music on display.

Now, Krasemann is in the midst of prepping his first LP for the label for an April 27 release, and has shared a full stream of the record’s first single “Halma.” Available now as standalone single, the breezy “Halma” can be streamed below before Dave DK’s full Val Maira LP lands in the coming months; the forthcoming album’s artwork and tracklist have also been included below.

Kim Ann Foxman Readies Second EP for Firehouse

Brooklyn-based producer/DJ and former Hercules & Love Affair vocalist Kim Ann Foxmanlaunched her Firehouse label late last year with the appropriately titled ​Firehouse 001 EP. Now, Foxman is set return to the label with a new outing early next month, complete with a pair of remixes from veteran NYC house artist Eli Escobar.

Again, Foxman has chosen to keep the title simple here, deeming the second effort for her fledgling imprint ​Firehouse 002. The upcoming EP is set to feature three new original productions from Foxman, which will sit alongside Escobar’s “Super New Yorky” and “DJ Tool” remixes of the record’s opening cut, “Open the House.” Said to be a “stripped-back and hot” affair, Foxman’s forthcoming ​Firehouse 002 EP will see its official release on March 9; in the meantime, the record’s artwork and tracklist have been included below.

AL-90 “Vectornaya Eyforia”

Hailing from the Russian city of Murmansk, AL-90 is a budding producer who is set to deliver a new album via the Fuselab label later this month. Entitled CODE-915913, the record is set to feature a sizable collection of the Russian artist’s “post/tape-house” constructions, which usually bury a series of ’90s-referencing melodies, re-pitched samples, and a sluggish four-on-the-floor beneath a bed of murky textures. One such cut is “Vectornaya Eyforia,” a track that fits ping-ponging melodies and a series of chopped vocals beneath its blanket of dark and hazy chords. AL-90’s “Vectornaya Eyforia” production can be downloaded below before the beatmaker’s full CODE-915913 album lands on February 25.

Dekmantel Reveals Upcoming EP from Palms Trax; Preview It Now

English-born, now Berlin-based producer Jay Donaldson (a.k.a. Palms Trax) appears set to continue adding to his run of quality efforts next month with the imminent release of his In Gold EP. The three-track outing will serve as the artist’s debut on the Dekmantel label, with its trio productions said to land “firmly along the Chicago-Detroit axis… pad-driven jams [which make use of] off-kilter drums and hazy synths that shift like a gentle musical tide.”

Ahead of In Gold‘s official release on March 16, Donaldson (who, we should point out, has served as a contributor to XLR8R in the past) has shared a preview stream of his upcoming EP for the Amsterdam label, which we’ve included below alongside the record’s complete tracklist.

Huerco S. Returns to Proibito with New Royal Crown of Sweden EP

Back in 2013, Anthony Napleslaunched his Proibito with the four-track R.E.G.A.L.I.E.R. EP, which found the then budding Huerco S. operating under the name Royal Crown of Sweden. Now, Huerco S. has returned to Proibito to deliver a (mostly) new EP under the Royal Crown of Sweden alias.

The four-track R.E.G.A.L.I.E.R. (Second Edition) EP contains two tracks from the previous Royal Crown of Sweden outing, “Vänern” and “Mälaren,” which are said to have been remastered for the new record. In addition, the EP also includes two new productions in “Fauno Rosso” and “Soft Things,” which make up the record’s b-side. The R.E.G.A.L.I.E.R. (Second Edition) EP is out now and can currently be previewed here; its artwork and tracklist have been included below.

Marcel Dettmann’s MDR Label Announces Upcoming Compilation Featuring Anthony Parasole, Answer Code Request, and More

Marcel Dettmann‘s MDR label has revealed plans to issue an eight-track compilation next month featuring new tracks from a number of artists the seasoned German producer/DJ keeps in his inner circle. Amongst those who are set to contribute to the simply titled MDR Compilation are NYC-based selector and recent XLR8R podcast contributor Anthony Parasole, Ostgut Ton affiliate Answer Code Request, and longtime Berghain resident Norman Nodge.

“What all of these producers have in common is not just a techno sound that challenges the genre’s norms,” a press release states, “but an artistic affinity and genuine friendship with the man whose initials appear on the record sleeve.” Set to drop both as a double-vinyl pack and in digital form, the MDR Compilation will see its official release on March 20.

Coinciding with the record’s arrival, Dettmann and a number of his cohorts will take their talents around the globe, stopping in Berlin, London, Paris, and NYC, amongst other locations.
