Braiden Launches New Label with Solo 12″

After a quiet 2013 and 2014 on the release front for Braiden, the Berlin-based UK artist has announced plans to reemerge in 2015 with the launching of a new label, Off Out. The imprint will debut on January 26 with the “Apex of the Sun’s Way” b/w “Solar Poise” 12″ from Braiden himself. A skilled DJ as well as producer, Braiden contributed a stellar installment to XLR8R‘s ongoing podcast series back in 2012; that mix can be streamed and downloaded in full here, while highly promising snippets of the man’s upcoming 12″ can be heard via the player below before Off Out’s inaugural outing sees its official release later this month.

Mumdance and Logos Ready Collaborative LP for Tectonic

UK producers Mumdance and Logos—who together founded the Different Circles label last year—will issue a 10-track collaborative LP via Tectonic next month. Entitled Proto, the record will see former Bubblin’ Up artist Mumdance returning to the label after releasing a collaborative mix album with Tectonic founder Pinch midway through 2014. Furthermore, the record is said to find the pair of Mumdance and Logos focusing on the “very brief sparks of innovation when new scenes were just forming and genre rules and paradigms were still grey areas,” with a specific focus on “early bleep track days when imported American techno was starting to be appropriated by the UK, the 93-94 proto era when hardcore was morphing into jungle, and later when the darker sound of tech-step reared its mechanical, dystopian head.”

From those points of inspiration, the pair is said to instill the record with their own production sensibilities; Mumdance bringing his keen ability for grime constructions and Logos utilizing his sonic sculpting capabilities throughout the album. No audio previews have surfaced for the record as of yet, but Proto‘s artwork can be seen above and its tracklist can be peeped below before the LP officially lands on February 16.

The Prodigy Reveals Upcoming Album, Shares Teaser Video

The Prodigy has revealed plans to issue its sixth studio album, The Day Is My Enemy, in March of this year. Set to see a release via the outfit’s own Take Me to the Hospital label (in conjunction with Cooking Vinyl), the album will feature 14 new tracks from the UK rave mavericks, including two collaborations: one with Nottingham post-punk duo Sleaford Mods and another with modern dubstep producer Flux Pavilion.

The Prodigy’s The Day is My Enemy LP will see an official release on March 30. In the meantime, a teaser video for the record can be watched below, where the LP’s full tracklist has also been included.

Wolf “No Love (Wallwork/RZR & Ltd Colours Remix)”

Though he currently serves as the head of the tireless Infinite Machine label, Montreal’s Carlos Juarez will head over to London’s fledgling Heretic imprint to drop his debut EP next week. Producing under the name Wolf, Juarez’s Drifting Away EP will include two original tracks in its run (one in collaboration with Liar), along with a number of remixes, such as the rework offered here from Wallwork/RZR and Ltd Colours. Having proven more than adept at crafting heavy-handed club constructions in the past, Wallwork/RZR and frequent collaborator Ltd Colours use the opportunity to reshape “No Love” into a potent affair, balancing floating chords with an ever-evolving series of thick rhythms across the tune’s five-minute run. The strong-armed remix can be grabbed below, where a preview stream of Wolf’s Drifting Away EP (out on January 12) has also been included.

Indian Wells “Alcantara”

After emerging back in 2012 with a memorable collection of atmospheric productions on his debut LP, Night Drops, Italian producer Indian Wells will return to the Bad Panda label with a new LP later this year. Pulled from the upcoming seven-track album is “Alcantara,” a lush and hazy effort which charts a steady downtrodden stomp through a host of elongated (and tastefully side-chained) tones, hi-pitched vocal whispers, and layers of swaying bells whose loose clatters narrowly hang onto the beat. Set to appear early on in the course of Indian Wells’ forthcoming Pause LP, “Alcantara” can be downloaded in full below before the producer’s new record arrives on March 9; the forthcoming record’s full tracklist has also been included below.

Terror Danjah and Zed Bias Prep Collaborative Single for Formula; Hear It Now

Grime specialist Terror Danjah‘s (pictured above) and Zed Bias‘ collaborative “Telepathy” single—which has floated around since early 2013—will soon see an official release, kicking off the 2015 run of Champion‘s Formula label in the coming weeks. Featuring guest vocalist Olivia Louise, the slippery “Telepathy” will come backed by Champion’s remix of UK artist Flava D‘s “Home,” which—according to Champion’s Twitter—has appeared exclusively in his and Flava D’s sets over the past six months.

At this point, no exact release date has been set for the two-track single to drop, but the record is expected to land “soon” via Formula. In the meantime, both Terror Danjah’s and Zed Bias’ “Telepathy” production and Champion’s remix of “Home” can be streamed in full below. (via FACT)

Download a Free Compilation from Erased Tapes

In celebration of the new year, London label Erased Tapes has offered up a free compilation which includes contributions from Nils Frahm, Rival Consoles, and a remix from Clark. Compiled by Erased Tapes founder Robert Raths, the 11-track collection features a number of highlights from the imprint’s existing catalog, as well as a new production from Greg Gives Peter Space and the aforementioned Clark remix, which finds the Warp staple reworking Nils Frahm’s Juno-heavy “Peter” composition.

The complete tracklist for Erased Tapes’ new compilation can be seen below, while the entire collection can be downloaded for free here. Those interested will need to sign up to be a member on the label’s site to access the free download, but we imagine most will find that a small price to pay for such a substantial helping of free music.

Unknown to the Unknown Launches Free Release Series with Single from Filter Dread

Unknown to the Unknown has announced a series of free, digital-only releases that kicks off with a single from grime and junglist Filter Dread. As Juno Plus reports, UTTU started off as a YouTube channel in 2011 curated by DJ Haus, and in the years since has spawned both a sub-label (Hot Haus) and a high volume of vinyl releases. Upcoming material in the new series will be available to download on the label’s website and via Sendspace in an effort to take things “back to the UTTU roots.”

Filter Dread’s “Sunbeams” has already been made available and can be streamed below and downloaded here; future releases will crop up on the label’s YouTube channel throughout 2015.

Caldera “Morning Traveller”

Digital label Cut (which works on a monthly subscription basis) kicks off its 2015 run with the four-track Trippin’ EP from German newcomer Caldera. Closing out the varied affair—which touches on shades of Objekt-style techno, chugging dub, and bits of broken beat across its run—is “Morning Traveller,” an elongated outing into hypnotic techno territory. Focusing on the details of its sparse elements, the track makes efficient use of up-swung organ chords and sharp percussion, both of which help gently guide the track forward throughout its patient, eight-plus-minute run.

Roman Flügel, Portable, Massimiliano Pagliara, and More Feature on Upcoming Live at Robert Johnson Compilation

Frankfurt label Live at Robert Johnson has shared details of a new Lifesaver compilation. Like the series’ opening installment, which dropped midway through 2013, the upcoming eight-track collection assembles original cuts from the imprint’s core roster, with Roman Flügel, Portable, Orson Wells, Massimiliano Pagliara, Lauer, TCB, and Benedikt Frey all represented. Lifesaver Compilation 2 is due to arrive in double-12″ format on March 16, with a separate 10″ “extension” offering tracks from Hotel Lauer and Tuff City Kids scheduled for release at the end of the month.
