Veteran DJ/producer Peter Van Hoesen is set to return to his own Time to Express label in early fall, following the release of his live album Life Performance via Tresor last year. The prolific Belgian artist has racked up numerous releases over the years for his imprint, which has also hosted submissions from the likes of Donato Dozzy and Dario Zenker. His forthcoming Call and Response EP will reportedly merge dancefloor-ready material with “highly personal” leftfield techno, a field he usually explores more directly in his abstracted techno collaboration with Yves de Mey as Sendai.

Call and Response is set to see a digital release on September 1, and both artwork and a tracklist have been included below.

Benji B, host of a weekly specialty dance show on BBC Radio 1, was away from the studio yesterday, so fresh off the back of his surprise single for Young Turks, “All Under One Roof Raving,” Jamie xx stepped in to host (and called on a formidable roster of guests to accompany him). Starting things off, John Talabot delivered a guest mix of entirely exclusive tracks, and Nick Tasker, who helms the Young Turks sub-label Whities, also made an appearance, previewing forthcoming material for the imprint along with a selection of unreleased tracks from a handful of UK-based labels. Rounding things out, James Blake (pictured above with Jamie xx) turned up to deliver an exclusive “Untitled” track. The full show runs 120 minutes, and can be streamed in full for the next week here, where a complete tracklist can also be found.

A burgeoning talent prominently featured in our recent LA Story feature—which takes an in-depth look at Los Angeles’ resurgent house and techno underground—Sage Caswell has delivered a new mix made up entirely of original ambient compositions. Appearing as part of the White Light mix series, the 50-plus-minute set is a lush and dreamy excursion which incorporates a pair of collaborative works alongside Pilo and Floyd Campbell. “I think I just wanted to make something I could do nothing to,” Caswell explains of the songs included in the mix. “I take a lot of naps and just recently started listening to music while sleeping,” he continues, “I enjoy listening to these songs when I lay down or feel anxious.”

Known as an inventive hip-hop producer and for his collaborations with Stateside MC Danny Brown, Paul White will debut on the R&S label with a new full-length album in September. Entitled Shaker Notes, the record diverges from the usual R&S fare as well as from much of White’s established catalog, being said to find the South London artist shedding his sampler and emerging as a “multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer as he charts the intoxication, heartbreak, and ultimate triumph of a grand love affair” throughout the course of the album.

Serving as our first taste of the upcoming effort is “Honey Cats,” a blues-streaked cut which smears loose guitar chords, dreamy vocals, and modulating organ drones atop a slow-rattling march. “Honey Cats” can be streamed in full below, where the tracklist for White’s upcoming Shaker Notes LP can also be found before the man’s R&S debut lands on September 29.

“Tangents,” the first official single from UK pair Simian Mobile Disco‘s upcoming Whorl LP has received a video treatment. Directed by Hans Lo and Jack Featherstone, the four-minute clip features a never-ending stream of manipulated patterns and colors, which move in rhythm with the driving track, bursting into complex new shapes as the song builds its lattice-like synths towards its eventual climax.

Alongside the announcement of a new club night of the same name, London-based label Night Slugs has offered up a Rizzla bootleg of label mainstay Girl Unit‘s “Club Rez.” Available to stream and download below, the track marries the anthemic, synth-driven original with an acapella lifted from dancehall vocalist Cecile’s “Step Aside.” The much sought-after edit first began cropping up in mixes last year, so that fact that it’s now available for free download should be welcome news to many.

As for Night Slugs’ Club Rez, the party kicks off at London’s Concrete club on July 24, with Girl Unit appearing under his Hysterics alias alongside Deamonds, Georgia Girls, P.O.L. Style, and “Night Slugs residents.” More information on the event can be found here.

Eric Copeland, who is perhaps best known for his work as part of Brooklyn-based experimental outfit Black Dice, has announced that he will debut on Ron Morelli’s sprawling L.I.E.S. imprint this fall. The American-born musician has written and produced scores of albums, singles, and remixes, including last year’s Joke in the Hole full-length for DFA, and his forthcoming LP, Logo My Ego (artwork above), reportedly continues a “tradition of experimental sonic derangement.” Billed as “pop music for the demented,” its five tracks are said to alternately evoke listening experiences akin to “eating ice cream off a city blacktop in August” or taking part in a “slow, dry-mouthed mule caravan trudging through the desert, looking for a oasis while hallucinating on DMT.” The five-track mini LP is set to arrive on September 15, and in the meantime, a-side cut “Uncle Sam’s Blues” can be streamed in full below, where a tracklist has also been included.
