It was less than two months ago when Lee Bannon released the Alternate/Endings LP on Ninja Tune, but the Brooklyn-based producer is apparently gearing up for his next release already. Yesterday, Bannon posted a new track on SoundCloud, along with a claim that he’s working on a “possible new project for 2014.” No further details were provided, but “Break the Line_” was offered up as a free download. It’s Bannon’s way of giving thanks to his fans, who’ve made sure that his 2014—which also kicked off with an-depth profile in XLR8R as part our annual Bubblin’ Up Week—has been good so far. We’ll have to wait and see what the rest of the year has in store for him, but in the meantime, the manic percussion and twisted vocal snippets of “Break the Line_” can be streamed and downloaded from the player below.
Prolific East Coast producer Physical Therapy will drop a new EP via his own Allergy Season imprint next month, and has shared a streaming preview of the four-track effort in the weeks before its relase. The forthcoming Million Years Crushed EP will offer three new productions from Physical Therapy (actually, four counting the “digital only” bonus cut), along with a remix from Berghain resident Norman Nodge. Serving as the second EP to drop via Physical Therapy’s fledging label, Million Years Crushed will see an official release—in both vinyl and digital form—on April 7, but in the meantime, the EP’s efforts can be previewed below, where its tracklist has also been included.

Whacked-out Black Moth Super Rainbow frontman Tobacco shared last week that his upcoming third solo album, Ultima II Massage, was set to drop via Ghostly in the middle of May, and has followed that announcement with a full stream of the record’s lead single. “Eruption (Gonna Get My Hair Cut At The End Of The Summer)” arrives today as our first taste of the hallucinatory, pseudo-hip-hop tunes that the Pittsburgh artist born Thomas Fec will unleash when his new LP arrives on May 13, with all of the warbling synths, lo-fi textures, and heavily processed vocals firmly intact. Tobacco’s brand-new song can be heard below.
For the third release on the fledgling Blankstairs label, the Portland-based imprint has reached way across the pond to tap Belgian artist Binamer Lebienheureux (a.k.a. LBNHRX) for the three-track Naïve Misanthropy EP. Said to be an entirely hardware-crafted affair, the forthcoming effort is led by “Their Judgements,” an entrancingly off-kilter cut lined with dark chords and lurching melodies. Held together by the steady pulse of its bulbous kick, “Their Judgements” is techno in the loosest sense of the word, as LBNHRX seems to use the genre merely as a foundation for seeing if his various hardware pieces can actually sync up. But as “Their Judgements”—and, we imagine, the rest of the man’s Naïve Misanthropy EP (out on April 1)—proves, sometimes it’s actually better when they don’t.
Though he’s taken part in a few collaborations and dropped a mix or two throughout 2013, Tom Krell hasn’t issued a proper release as How To Dress Well since 2012’s Total Loss LP. Now, Krell is streaming a new, soul-burnt tune that seems to indicate a proper record is on the horizon.
“This song for me is about love, trust, commitment, and what happens to these things and, like, what happens to really real love when sentimentality is so co-opted and ruined,” Krell explains of his new production, “Words I Don’t Remember.” “What remains of true love in this world of simulations,” he asks in the song’s accompanying press release. How To Dress Well’s introspective, six-plus-minute “Words I Don’t Remember” can be streamed in full below. And for those who wish to further speculate as to what Krell has planned for the future, the producer/vocalist has also launched a new website, which can be checked out here.
New York-bred house duo The Martinez Brothers are a week away from launching a 15-date tour of North America that will take them through a number of high-profile festivals and one-off performances in select cities. In the midst of stops at Electric Daisy Carnival Mexico, Miami Music Week, Coachella, Movement Festival, and other massive events from March through June, the brotherly DJ/producers will appear at clubs in Chicago, San Francisco, Denver, and Montreal, with a special return to Brooklyn for Mad Beats & Crazy Styles 06. Jacques Greene has revealed plans to drop a new EP via LuckyMe next month, teasing a new track and delivering a comprehensive list of spring tour dates which will take the Montreal-based DJ/producer all over North America, with a handful of European stops in between. Although few exact details have surfaced, we do know that Jacques Greene’s next EP will be called Phantom Vibrate and is set to drop on April 28.
Furthermore, the Canadian artist has shared a long list of upcoming tour dates, a stint which begins in the UK this week before launching the man back across the pond for SXSW and an ensuing North American tour. Most dates are billed as DJ sets, but at a few select shows—like the LuckyMe x Warp SXSW party—Jacques Greene will be rolling out a new live set. Liverpool producer and former Bubblin’ Up subject John Heckle took a major leap last year, particularly with the release of his sophomore album, Desolate Figures, and the subsequent Baiyun Mountain EP. Next month, he’ll be issuing his latest missive, the Laid Away EP. Known for his love of raw, blown-out sounds and in-the-red house and techno constructions, Heckle will continue those tendencies here, as “Laid Away” is said to be powered by “myriad synth lines all squiggling about above jacking, rough-edged house beats.” Similarly, b-side “DDT” is described as a song where “everything comes coated in layers of dirt and dust, be it the sporadic cowbell ping, the scraping percussive smears, or the frenzied synth lines.”
Scheduled for release on April 21 via the Scenery label, Heckle’s new record will also include “Laid Away” remixes from Perseus Traxx and Ksoul & MuteOscillator. A preview of each track on the Laid Away EP can be heard below.
Masked German producer Redshape (a.k.a. Sebastian Kramer) may keep his appearance under wraps, but he’s always been rather prolific, and especially so as of late. Just during the past few months, he’s given away a free track for Halloween, released a new 12″ for “Wires,” and even offered up a podcast for Little White Earbuds. Now, he’s set to continue the flurry of activity with an unusual new EP. There isn’t a ton of information available about Bonuz Beatz, but the title is somewhat self-explanatory, as the four-track EP is described as a collection of “beat tools of some of Redshape’s ‘greatest hits.'” The record will be issued via Gerd Janson’s Running Back label, which also released Redshape’s last LP, Square. Bonuz Beatz doesn’t yet have a release date, but its artwork and the complete tracklist are below.
Brighton DJ/producer Ital Tek has announced that he’ll soon follow up last year’s Control mini-album for Planet Mu (which can be streamed in full here) with a new EP for bass-focused London label Civil Music. Mega City Industry is said to offer “four liquid hybrids exploring footwork’s accelerated template… [splicing] the rhythmic memes of Chicago with UK sci-fi sonics rooted in classic ’90s AI and jungle music,” and will drop as vinyl and digital packages on April 7.
