DJ Seinfeld ‘What Kind of Sandwich is This?’

DJ Seinfeld has a new EP on the way, titled Ruff Hysteria.

The label describes the EP as “the sounds from the cutting room floor deemed too unsavory for public consumption.” It features four tracks abandoned by the mainstream studios picked up by the grotty b-movie generation. The losers, the freaks, gore heads. Bare bones tackle for the floor and analog anthems for the disenchanted.”

The digital release is today, with the vinyl release coming soon. “What Kind of Sandwich is This?” is downloadable in full via the WeTransfer button below.

Marvin & Guy’s ‘Equation’ Series Returns

Marvin & Guy’s Equation series is back with Equation 2—after Equation 1‘s release.

Equation is a series of releases that focuses on “very special edits” by “very special artists.”This series is curated by Marvin & Guy themselves. It’s out in three volumes in different colors: firstly in black, secondly in grey, and then thirdly in white. Each release will be available exclusively on vinyl, and limited to just 300 records; no digital files are released. There will be a two-month break between each release, and the identity of the artists behind the edits will not be revealed.

For Equation 2, the artists are “the Mexican outlaw hippie, a Danish who learned how to build beats better than Lego, as well as the only Irish keener on music than in beer. And the last player is a man who abandoned the euro dance hits of the ’90s to play basketball in Peru.”

Equation 2 is available now, with a stream available below.

Mike Servito and Justin Cudmore Remix Gunnar Haslam

Brooklyn-based producer Gunnar Haslam has released a new 12″ on The Bunker NY, featuring a remix by Mike Servito and Justin Cudmore.

The release arrives after Servito, Cudmore, Derek Plaslaiko, and Bryan Kasenic all ran to the booth to check what Gunnar was playing when he dropped the unreleased “Scale No Flam” in his DJ sets throughout 2016, leaving the label with no choice but to release it. Gunnar says us he was playing around with trying to replicate the bassline of Heaven 17’s 1982 classic “Let Me Go” when “things kinda mutated.”

The A-side is completely Gunnar’s own; while the B-side sees the remix by Mike Servito and Justin Cudmore.

Sebastian Vivian ‘Cascade’

Australian artist Sebastian Vivian, until now, has made music for short films created by his classmates—Vivian studies sonic arts at the University of Adelaide—as well as various other films with chamber music arrangements. With motion film a major influence, Vivian uses string instruments and Ableton as tools to experiment with sound design.

As an introduction to his work, Vivian has offered up his debut single, “Cascade,” as today’s XLR8R download. The track is a delicate and introspective cut that flows beautifully across its six-minute run. “Cascade” is part of an audio/visual LP titled Monument that will see release via Brooklyn label Color Station in late Spring. The project is centered around a 4.5-minute short film that follows Sebastian around in a mock bedroom set up for a day at Format Collective art gallery. The Monument short film will feature several songs from the LP and touches on the idea of mundanity, as Vivian explains:

“I really like the mundane, things that we pass by every day. I think with my music I’m not trying to transport the listener or myself anywhere, but hopefully just highlight some aspect of their own life. You know when in film, a seemingly normal/real moment is transformed by music, I hope this record has that kind of translation, so the cover art is meant to be this neutral, everyday thing, that if you invest time into it upon seeing it, then you get something out of it.”
