Behrouz and Armen Miran to Play SBCLTR Decompression Party in LA

SBCLTR, a promising new Los Angeles-based event series with a focus on deep house and techno, will hold its third party this weekend at Bonaventure Brewing Company at the Westin-Bonaventure Hotel in DTLA. To commemorate SBCLTR’s first Burning Man experience, the event organizers are calling the party ‘Dusty Decompression’ and aim to bring deep sounds and Burner vibes to Los Angeles on Sunday, September 18. Headlining the decompression is All Day I Dream contributor and Do Not Sit On The Furniture owner Behrouz, who has quickly become an embodiment of the Burning Man sound via his role as a resident at Robot Heart. A solid cast of selectors will join Behrouz for the Sunday afternoon affair, including local talent Tara Brooks, tribal house experts Viken Arman and Armen Miran, and rising German duo Just Emma.

In preparation for SBCLTR’s Dusty Decompression, XLR8R sat down with the event’s founders to find out a bit more about this exciting new series.

When did SBCLTR start throwing events and who is the team behind them?
Being avid music listeners, the culture has been infused in our DNA. Over the course of many years, our inspiration and recognition of house music developed and SBCLTR was the byproduct. Even though SBCLTR was only born in 2016, we are excited to bring premium experiences to Los Angeles for many years to come. SBCLTR was founded by Roni Mehrabian and Patrik Khachatourian but would not be possible without our amazing team of friends and supporters, including Michael Batmanian, Anita Yardemian, and Arvin Shirinyans. Not to mention the continuous support by LA Event and Grounded Productions, who pride themselves on delivering nothing short of quality events. Without the collective team, there is no SBCLTR.

Is there a specific vision or musical inspiration behind your parties?
Our vision is simple, we want quality. Quality artists, quality relationships, and an altogether quality experience for our attendees. We provide a platform for emerging artists to showcase their ingenious talent, go above and beyond mere production minimums, and spend excruciating time and effort to find premium venues. The music we display is always within the musical realm of house music and always danceable. We like to target niche artists that otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to play in LA.

What can we expect to see from SBCLTR in the future?
Well, we don’t want to give away too much but you can be sure to expect some big things coming, lots of dancing and lots of goosebumps. We always go back to the drawing board brainstorming new unique ideas and we like to explore all corners of creativity. Music is our true love, but building a conscious community that is well informed is also important for the betterment of society in general.

Marcel Dettmann Reveals First Track from DJ-Kicks Compilation

Marcel Dettmann has revealed a Rolando remix of his 2006 classic “Let’s Do It,” the first cut taken from his upcoming DJ-Kicks compilation.

Rolando’s remix is an ethereal, slow building affair, teasing in the characteristics of the original in an atmospheric intro. The original mix of “Let’s Do It” was the first release on Dettmann’s own MDR label ten years ago.

Dettmann’s DJ-Kicks mix also promises four more new original Dettmann remixes and edits, as well as two new collaborations alongside Wincent Kunth and Levon Vincent.

Ahead of the compilation’s October 14 release, the Rolando remix of “Let’s Do It” is streamable in full below.

Roland Announces New Synth, Turntable, and DJ Mixer

Following on from the recent announcements of the TB-03, TR-09, and VP-03, Roland is set to soon release a new System-8 polyphonic synth and a 909-themed turntable and DJ mixer.

The latest member of Roland’s Aira line, and powered by a digital Analog Circuit Behaviour engine, the System 8 is packed full of features—including the ability to add and control multiple synth profiles at once. The three oscillators run through an option of six filter models and can host up to three of Roland’s Plug-Out software synthesisers. Users can add the sounds from the company’s library of instruments. The System-8 also comes with the Jupiter-8 and Juno-106 plug-outs that can be played without any additional hardware—arguably the most enticing aspect of the product. There are also additional synth plug-outs (including the SH-2, SH-101 and PROMARS) available for purchase.

In addition to this, the System-8 has a 64-step TR-style sequencer, arpeggio with quick access buttons, chord memory, CV/GATE outputs, and a vocoder. It is also polyphonic and supports eight voices via the velocity-enabled keys. CV and gate outputs ease communication with analog hardware and Eurorack modules. A video introduction to the System-8 is available to stream below.

Coming also is the TT-99, a 909-themed turntable and DJ mixer. The TT-99 turntable is a direct drive design with a built-in phono preamp and a wow and flutter spec of 0.15 % or less. The DJ-99 mixer is a two-channel, three-band model with dedicated DVS in and outputs.

Prices:

System-8: $1499
TT-99: $349
DJ-99: $280

Release dates for each product remain unknown.

Infinity Ink ‘Full Capacity’ (Man Power Remix)

“Full Capacity” is a wonky house track by the Infinity Ink duo of Ali Love and Luca Cazal, and mixed by long term collaborator Mark Ralph.

Infinity Ink’s debut single “Infinity” was a big success back in 2013. The London-based duo then went on to join Jamie Jones and Lee Foss in Hot Natured, touring the world off the back of the band’s debut album Different Sides of the Sun.

Luca and Ali are back in 2016 and focused once more on their Infinity Ink project with an album slated for next year. The new Infinity Ink material swings between house, disco, and acid, but “Full Capacity” is pretty out there. Today we’re offering a remix of the cut by Man Power, available for free download via the WeTransfer button below.
