It was only a few weeks ago that the Amsterdam-based Dekmantel Festival shared the news that it would be returning this summer. That announcement included an impressive initial batch of artists, including the likes of Jamie xx, Mount Kimbie, Hessle Audio, Nicolas Jaar, DJ Koze, and others. Today, a second round of acts has been added to the line-up, and after viewing the names, it’s looking like the young festival will be one of the most anticipated events of the summer. Among the new additions are Jeff Mills, Nina Kraviz (pictured above), Julio Bashmore, Nina Kraviz, Andrew Weatherall, Bicep, Surgeon, Boddika, Jimmy Edgar, and Joey Anderson. The festival will also play host to a number of joint sets, including Ben Klock and Ryan Elliott, Marcel Dettmann and Luke Slater, Efdemin and Marcel Fengler, Steffi and Answer Code Request, and Kyle Hall and Jay Daniel. Dekmantel will take place from August 1-3 at Amsterdam Bos; tickets are on sale now and the complete details—including all of the new artists on the bill—can be found on the festival’s website.

The DJ/producers and label co-founders of enduring German duo Modeselektor have announced the follow up to 2012’s solid Modeselektion Vol. 2 compilation, the third collection of exclusive tracks to arrive from Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary. Boasting two discs in its CD format, two LPs in its vinyl format, and 19 tracks in its digital format, Modeselektion Vol. 3 is a star-studded affair which offers never-before-heard music from the likes of Nosaj Thing, Akkord, L-Vis 1990, Fennesz, French Fries, To Rococo Rot, Illum Sphere, Onra, Schlachthofbronx, Robot Koch, Omar Souleyman, and, oddly enough, The Fall, among others. There is no music from Modeselektor, however, aside from an edit the pair does for Souleyman.

In a press release for Modeselektion Vol. 3, Bronsert’s and Szary’s methods of curation are illuminated: “Any selection is only as great as the distance between its most diverse elements—the greater, the better—but only if the compilation manages to shrink this gap down to nothing in a flash, convincing us that the gloriously heterogeneous mix couldn’t be any more cohesive. Also, any selection improves exponentially with the number of surprises and discoveries.” The duo continues, explaining, “Naturally, the art of selection is all about balancing these opposing poles in a way that makes it pretty much impossible—or at least entirely unfair—to pick out isolated highlights. But we’ll throw in a few teasers to whet your appetite. Generally speaking, this one is all about a little less in-your-face and a touch more schmaltz, but the usual dose of head and heart.” Before Modeselektor’s latest compilation arrives in all of its formats on June 27 via the duo’s Monkeytown label, its artwork and tracklists can be found below. Former Telefon Tel Aviv member Joshua Eustis has announced he will issue a new solo LP under the guise of Sons of Magdalene in June. The nine-track Move to Pain LP will see a release via the Audraglint label, and is said to be a deeply personal record for Eustis, one which has sat mostly completed since 2010, but was not officially finished until late last year. Eustis further explains in the announcement’s press release:

“The earliest songs for this LP were completed in late 2008, shortly before the death of my long time musical collaborator and childhood friend, Charles W. Cooper, III. We had been making music together as Telefon Tel Aviv for a decade. Charlie heard the early versions of these songs and wanted them to be the basis of the next Telefon Tel Aviv LP. He died before we could finish anything together, so I kept them as they were and went from there.

The rest of the record was written intermittently from 2009 until late 2010, when the first version of the record was completed. I sat on this for years, against the advice of friends and family, and the record became the elephant in the room. The subject matter of the record is by far the most personal of my musical career.”

Sons of Magdalene’s vocal-heavy Move to Pain LP will see a full release on June 24. In the meantime, the record’s artwork and full tracklist are included below.

Having recently contributed to the R&S label’s own mix series after dropping its Containing a Thousand EP, Dublin-based duo Lakker (a.k.a. Dara Smith and Ian McDonnell ) has shared a brand-new DJ session that bounds across the realms of delicate ambient sonics, industrial noise clashes, thumping dancefloor music, and beyond. Entirely made up of tracks produced by Irish artists, the bold podcast for THUMP ventures through a wide assortment of tracks, several of which are unreleased. Lumigraph, Sunken Foal, Boya, Frank B, and many others appear throughout Lakker’s thematic mix, a compellingly eclectic set that can be streamed in full below.

Night Slugs co-head and increasingly adventerous producer L-Vis 1990 has shared his new remix for French duo Principles of Geometry. The relentlessly pulsing rework of the pair’s “Streamsters” track comes with news that Principles of Geometry will drop an LP entitled Meanstream via Joakim’s Tigersushi label later this month. In its original form, the album’s lead single “Streamsters” enlists the help of the Alessi Brothers (best known for crafting the theme song to the Ghostbusters movie series), but with L-Vis 1990 at the controls, the tune turns into a much more club-ready affiar, one that shiftts between glowing textuers and strong-armed sonics throughout its extended six-minute run.

After giving away his High End Times Vol. 1 mixtape and his remix for Chromeo’s “Come Alive” single, the ever-busy DJ/producer Brenmar has unveiled yet another remix, this time for Route 94’s “My Love” single with Jess Glynne. Created with help from New Jersey artist J Heat, the collaborative remix showcases the pair’s ability to reimagine the sensual, steady-grooving original jam into a fresh and fast-paced dance tune with a subtle hip-hop flavor. “My Love (Brenmar & J Heat Remix)” can be streamed and downloaded for free via the player below.

A longstanding flagship artist of Kompakt‘s stable, Gui Boratto will drop a new 12″ via the Cologne label next month. The forthcoming “Take Control” single will feature one new production from the Brazilian techno artist, while a trio of remixers—DJs Pareja, Danny Daze, and Weval—have been enlisted to rework the tune.

Though we don’t know exactly what to expect from the release, Boratto’s four-track “Take Control” record is set to drop on May 26 in both vinyl and digital form. In the meantime, the upcoming single’s artwork and tracklist have been included below. Boratto is also currently in the midst of a European tour, the remaining dates of which can be found here.
