Memorial Home “America”

Earlier this month, Memorial Home released their debut album, World.

Memorial Home is a Barcelona-based duo made up of French producer Paul Roux and Belgium’s Jeremy Pinchasi. The duo also run the Rapid Eye Movement imprint, home to World and a series of outings from artists such as VII Circle, Edit Select, Nur Jaber, and Kas:st, among others. On their debut, the duo deliver 20 gorgeously produced tracks that showcase their immersive, cinematic sound, or as the duo state, “a soundtrack for a dystopian film yet to be written.” Across the album, the duo touch on trip-hop, dub techno, experimental techno, and downtempo in a wholly unique and transfixing manner.

In support of the release, Memorial Home has offered up album cut “America,” an emotive, hard-to-pin-down downtempo track of searing intensity. You can pick up “America” below, with the album available to purchase here.

Premiere: Hear a Heavy, Intoxicating Cut by Tsuruda

1985 Music will release its new VA, Edition 2, on March 1.

Edition 2 also features first-time appearances on the label from Fixate, Lewis James, Bredren, Razat, and Cesco. Alex Smoke Unveils New Wraetlic Album

Alex Smoke will debut on Huntleys & Palmers with a new album as Wraetlic.

Wraetlic is one of Glasgow artist Alex Menzies’ three aliases. He’s most widely known as Alex Smoke, used for his regular abstract electronics, but he uses Wraetlic for doleful doom-pop and Alex Menzies for his forays into television and media, where he has scored documentaries for the BBC and various other outlets. He last appeared as Wraetlic in 2013 with an album and two EPs on Convex Industries.

Menzies himself last surfaced in 2018 with a collaborative Alex Smoke EP with cellist Maarten Vos and a contribution to XLR8Rplus

A remix package will follow featuring a swarm of Huntleys & Palmers’ favourite producers of the moment.

Menzies will soon be touring an audio-visual performance as Wraetlic.

Marcello Ruggiu Shows How to Use Max for Live to Create Track Ideas in New Video

Ableton certified trainer Marcello Ruggiu demonstrates how to use Max for Live to create new ideas in a video masterclass for Point Blank.

In the masterclass, which was held in partnership with Ableton’s yearly Education Tour at Point Blank London, Marcello demonstrates how he uses Max for Live to inspire the creation of new ideas and take existing ones to new and exciting places. He demonstrates how he does this with a range of Max tools, including Mono Sequencer, Rhythmic Probability, and Dr. Chaos, among others. He also talks on how you can build your own tools and combine elements to form unexpected results and “happy accidents.”

You can watch the full video below, with more on Point Blank and its course here.

Alec Ness “Harbinger”

Alec Ness has released his debut EP, Temporary Awareness of Passing, via Against Giants.

Temporary Awareness of Passing is an affecting collection of tracks that touch on UK garage, sci-fi ambience, synthwave, and beat-driven pop. The release was recorded during a period of self-imposed confinement, and echoes Alec’s influences—Burial, Vangelis, and Aphex Twin—via deconstructed club tropes, introspective synth work, and emotive vocals.

In support of the release, which is available here, Against Giants has offered up EP cut “Harbinger” as today’s XLR8R download. Unfolding across three minutes, “Harbinger” is a gorgeous display of pop-infused electronics; a track full of gritty drums, searing synths, and thick engulfing atmospheres.

You find the download of “Harbinger” below, along with the full EP stream.

Digby Returns with First EP in Over 12 Months

Digby Smith (a.k.a Digby, formerly Alex & Digby) will return with a new EP and the sixth instalment of Flash as a Rat. It will be his first solo EP after his brother, Alex, with whom he ran the label, tragically passed away a year ago.

We’re told to expect an “exciting taste of the future and a poignant nod to what came before.”

This is captured by the artwork which inverts the colour scheme from the brothers’ first ever release on their own label, marking the record simultaneously the ending of one chapter and the beginning of the next.

01. Briefmarken

02. Constantly

FAARAT006 lands February 25 on vinyl only, with clips below.
