Full Pupp Preps Chmmr LP

Chmmr will release a new LP on Prins ThomasFull Pupp imprint.

Hidden behind his Chmmr moniker is Even Brenden, whose debut found its way into the world via Norwegian psych-disco label Luna Flicks in 2010. The record became somewhat of a sought- after item and after making pit stops at Relish, Dødpop and Untz Untz Records, he landed on Prins Thomas’ Full Pupp in 2014.

Following this year drop of 12”s since 2010, Even Brenden (a.k.a Chmmr) set aside the spring of 2017 to challenge himself to a new format: a full-length album. The label describes the LP as “melodic, chuggy, and graphic,” that “belongs a little more in the living room than on the dance floor.”

Rhythm Rapport to Host Vera, Kamran Sadeghi

Rhythm Rapport, the Los Angeles-based underground which burst onto the scene in 2016 with bookings from the likes of Voigtmann, Maayan Nidam, and Oskar Offermann, has announced details surrounding its first party of the year.

The series, which aims to “honor the roots of dance music while advocating for the experimentation and innovation of the future,” will return this Friday night to a proper warehouse venue in Downtown Los Angeles. For their 2017 debut, organizers have locked in an all-star cast of minimal-leaning selectors, with Melliflow label boss Vera at the top of the bill. Vera’s performance at the XLR8R party in early 2016 was legendary, and with Melliflow listed as one of our top labels of 2016, Vera’s long-awaited return to Los Angeles is not to be missed. Renowned Iranian-American producer Kamran Sadeghi of Meander and Cocoon affiliation will also perform a 90-minute live set at the event, with support provided by local talent Gegov and visuals from Annie Heslin of ReSolute.

A limited number of $15 presale tickets remain; get them here. For more information about Rhythm Rapport, head to the event’s Facebook page.

Unkown Cultures ‘UntitledTrackFound02’

In its first year of operation, fresh Barcelona label xenonyms released nine releases from artists such as Toboggan, Seapoint, and Ginjahbeard, as well as two VAs. Its latest EP, and second of 2017, Unknown Cultures’ Track Research, will drop on February 24 and features four cuts that reference industrial, noise, dub, and techno.

Track Research is hard to define and categorize musically; which, in this case, is a good thing. Built off the back of brain-melting rhythms, the EP utilizes a range of experimental touchstones, from warped, jazz-like drums to ritualistic chants and heavy, syncopated low end grooves.

Ahead of the February 24 release, xenonyms has offered up EP cut “UntitledTrackFound02” as today’s XLR8R download, available via WeTransfer below.
