Hivern Discs Recruits Inga Mauer

Inga Mauer will release her debut EP with Hivern Discs.

COLOM81AN ‘Here I Am’

Not much is known of COLOM81AN. The artists involved in the project first experienced music back in the mid to late ’90s, at a time when underground house and hip-hop were on the rise. This undoubtedly shaped COLOM81AN’s sound, giving birth to what they refer to as NuMood, a dreamy and hypnotic style of beat-driven music.

The first taste of the project arrives as today’s XLR8R download. “Here I Am” kicks off with the affected vocals of Synthia, before a swinging hip-hop beat locks you into a groove. Alongside the track, COLOM81AN has also released its video accompaniment, a touching edit cut from the 1996 film “Great Expectations.”

You can download “Here I Am” via WeTransfer below.

Premiere: Hear a Track from Pixelord’s New Album

Alexey Devyanin (a.k.a. Pixelord) is a Siberian-born producer known for a sound that fuses elements of bass, footwork, garage, and grime. His latest album, Human.exe, is set to drop on September 23 via Hyperboloid, the label he runs with Acid Mafia and Saburov.

Devyanin has always pushed forward-thinking, futuristic sonics, but Human.exe will take his sound even further into a dystopian abyss, focusing on a robot who wants to be human while also echoing his own childhood, as he explains:

Human.exe is about a robot who wants to be a human but still he is a program, exe file. The video will be about this particular robot too. My music was always retro-futuristic and nostalgic about old computers and systems, this time as well .exe is the reference to my childhood, IDM music, DOS programs, and cyber romanticism.”

In the lead-up to the album’s release, Devyanin has given us the second taste of the album in “Operator”—the first was premiered by Boiler Room. It’s a wild industrial ride with a mechanical groove at its base, a perfect precursor for the forthcoming full-length.

You can stream “Operator” in full via the player above, with the album available for preorder here.

James Blake Releases ‘Timeless’ Featuring Vince Staples

James Blake has released a new version of “Timeless” featuring Vince Staples.

The Long Beach rapper adds another dimension to the soulful and sharp track, taken from Blake’s third full-length album, The Colour In Anything.

The track, available to stream via the player above, premiered on BBC Radio 1 and is available now at all digital retailers.

PADS Label Launches with Niro EP; Hear a Track Now

Niro Perrone (a.k.a. Niro)—Unclear label head and one-half of Easy To Remember alongside sibling and production partner Elia Perrone—is set to launch his new label, PADS, with Pieces Of You.

The EP follows Easy To Remember’s brilliant debut album, Pescaiola—released back in June—with four cuts of off-kilter, jazz-infused house. From the tripped-out lo-fi sounds of “Hands Of Shadow” and “Inner Space” to the title track’s rolling groove and the final galactic ambient excursion, Pieces Of You presents Perrone’s wide-ranging sound in style.

Ahead of the EP’s release, you can stream the title track in full below.

Premiere: Watch the Video for John Tejada’s ‘Integrator’

Having released more than a combined 80 EPs and LPs to consistent acclaim since 1995, John Tejada has become one of the most respected producers in the US.

Returning to Kompakt after last year’s Signs Under Test LP—his third full-length with the label—the LA-based artist presented his Lakewood Drive EP in May. The release showcased Tejada’s admired brand of energetic, melodic minimalism, packed with three expertly crafted cuts—including “Integrator,” a track that is also included on Kompakt’s recentTotal 16 compilation.

Today the label has released a film for “Integrator,” made by Mark Dadlani who wrote a few lines about the vid:

“We run through worlds. We run toward the blur between the virtual and the real. We’re approaching the singularity where the simulation and reality are indistinguishable from each other. We find our hero stuck in a loop of paranoia as his virtual form resolves in and out of a black cube, solid to liquid, dissolving like an acid laced sugar cube. There is a romantic air too as John Tejada’s “Integrator” brings in a humanistic beauty that we’re in danger of missing…the dialogue between the internal and external pulse to the broken landscape of Los Angeles. Time is merely a construct of your conscious thoughts.”

Kompakt’s Total 16 compilation is available now.

Youandewan Announces Debut Album

Youandewan will release his debut album on Aus later this year.

Berlin-based DJ and producer Ewan Smith (a.k.a. Youandewan) has had strong links to Will Saul‘s Aus imprint for some years now, having released three solo EPs on it. The label is now set to become the home of his debut full-length too, There Is No Right Time. According to a press release, much of the music was sketched out three years ago when Smith was coming out of a breakup, and so has a “melancholic vibe,” giving a nod toward “the lonely nature of the job and to the darker side of constant partying and all that comes with it.”

The news comes just after Smith dropped his first EP on Andy Hart‘s Voyage Recordings: three-tracker Luna Via (which you can purchase now over at Juno).

There Is No Right Time is scheduled for release on October 14. Stream one of its cuts, “Waiting For L,” below.

Tracklisting:

A1. Have The Guts
A2. Be Good To Me, Poly
A3. Waiting For L
B1. Time To Leave (Can’t Mix)
B2. 10405 (Alice)
B3. Our Odyssey
C1. Something Keeps Me Real Quiet
C2. Left On Lucy (Featuring Huerta)

Studio 338’s Team Announce New Club, The Bridge

A new club is set to open in London.

Back in August, Studio 338 (one of the city’s most-loved venues) was damaged by a fire; standing up in the face of adversity, the club’s creative team have launched a new endeavor—The Bridge. Situated on the borders of Hackney Wick and Bow, the new 500-capacity spot boasts a VOID Acoustics soundsystem and several outdoor areas.

Music and events director Dan Perrin explained that he was aiming for “The Bridge to become a new hub for underground live and electronic music in East London. Somewhere with a program thats consistently good enough for people to be able to come whenever they like and hear something great.”

So far, the club’s upcoming schedule features parties by local promoters including Toi Toi, Undersound and Art of Dark. Despite having a few events booked in beforehand, the full launch is scheduled for November 12.

Find out more information over at The Bridge’s Facebook page.
