Asyncronous is a duo project from Kyiv. Originating from the different ends of a musical spectrum, they both strive to find a common ground without losing a sense of artistic individuality and to express something beyond pure musical form. Their debut EP, The Art Of Fighting In A Dream, is an exploration of human sleep, its stages, moods, and spiritual or metaphysical experiences it brings. The release consists of six tracks, each of which refers to a certain stage of the sleeping process.
In support of the release, out now on Slow Life, we’re sharing “Praecursor,” an added bonus track, available now via the WeTransfer button below, or here for EU readers due to temporary GDPR restrictions.
For those unfamiliar, each month XLR8R releases three exclusive tracks to XLR8R+ subscribers. The tracks, which are available in both high-quality and MP3 formats, come packaged with a PDF zine, featuring exclusive content and information on the artists and tracks, a desktop and phone wallpaper, and other monthly extras (think sample packs, free event tickets, vinyl giveaways, discounts etc.) The package contents are available for one month only and only subscribers of that month will get them—you won’t find the tracks anywhere else.
This month’s package is a special one and one we’ve been piecing together for a while now. All three featured producers are as elusive and respected as you can find in the electronic music sphere. Up first is Convextion, one of techno and electro’s most revered producers, with an extremely rare digital-only drum & bass cut from his archive. The Texas-born artist is known to be extremely careful about sharing his music. Up next is Vladislav Delay, the most used moniker of Finnish producer Sasu Ripatti, who returns after a five-year hiatus with a thrilling, hard-to-define slice of punk-infused electronics. Completing the ninth edition is DVS1, one of modern house and techno’s biggest names, with “Secrets,’ a big-room techno roller from the HUSH20 studio sessions. It’s a huge honor to welcome these three to XLR8R+.
The artwork for XLR8R+009, a haunting multi-format piece, was created by Beatport’s lead-designer Alland Byallo, a Berlin-based artist, DJ, and producer with close to 20 years in the game.

HANDS will release the latest EP from Canadian duo MDD on March 8.
MDD launched with a series of recording sessions in 2015, before progressing to a live act in 2017, performing intense and lauded shows alongside artists such as Orphx, Ancient Methods, and Perc, before releasing their debut EP on Inner Surface Music in 2018. Following their sophomore outing on South London Analogue Material—also released in 2018—the duo now present their debut album, Reverse The Contrast.
On Reverse The Contrast, the duo further their industrial sonic signature, weaving tense and aggressive synth lines with distorted rhythmic structures across 11 muscular tracks. While industrial techno has been at the forefront of the technosphere of late, MDD have managed to find a niche within the sound, with their tracks sitting in a nether region between club functionality and a more song-based approach.
To give you a taste of the forthcoming release, MDD have offered up a full stream of album cut “Submission” (feat. AADJA), available via the player below. You can pre-order the LP here.
Prins Thomas will drop his sixth studio album, Ambitions, in April.
The seven-tracker will be the Norwegian artist’s second solo album for Smalltown Supersound, accompanying two duo albums with Bjørn Torske and Bugge Wesseltoft. We’re told that it picks up from were he left off with Principe Del Norte. The tracks are shorter, more melodic, and more concise, and we also see Thomas’ first vocal track, lead single “Feel A Love,” based around a sample of the track “Feel A Love” by the late Alex Naumik, one of the biggest pop-stars in Norway in the ’70s and ’80s,
The collection of songs gathers up loose ideas sketched down on Prins Thomas’ computer or hummed into his handheld recorder in the last two years with a shifting work environment, from hotel rooms in San Francisco, backstage in Osaka, on a plane from Miami to Chicago, his garden patio, and finally his studio in Asker.
“The common thread was found later during overdubbing and reworking these sketches under the critical ears of label boss Joakim Haugland,” he explains. “Most of the tracks were finalized in the studio at the same time as my previous collaborative album with Bugge Wesseltoft. Bugge even kindly joins in on the album’s closing track, ‘Sakral’.”

Chicago future jazz quintet mindswimmer have dropped Land of Upright Peoples, the second of a planned 12 releases to land this year.
Land of Upright Peoples is a play on the meaning of Burkina Faso, the powerful name chosen by former president Thomas Sankara to unify the country’s diverse population under a shared character trait: honesty. For mindswimmer, they seek to imbue that same inclusive energy into music culture.
The release sees them continue to explore their improvisatory spirit, blending jazz, house, afrobeat, hip-hop, and krautrock. They’re joined by Chicago MC Thaione Davis and Shev Rock.
Earlier this year, mindswimmer released Everytime I Eat My Dreams, and last year released their debut album.

The mini-album connects the dots between the lo-fi ambient investigations of his 2017 debut album, Saw You For The First Time, the warm club sounds heard on All I See Is Her, last year’s 12” for Tokyo’s Mule Music, and his roots in deep drum & bass and dubstep soil. We’re told that these roots now appear more explicitly than ever, boosting the typically graceful harmonies and sooty samples of the London artist’s music with a “new, profound energy.” It’s said to be Guy’s most experimental and most personal record so far.

Titled 3 Days, 2 Nights, the EP features four originals from the duo, all of which were inspired by a summer trip to Barrington Tops, a national park in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. With Mount Allen and the gorgeous rolling hills of the area as a backdrop, the duo weave together sun-drenched field recordings, shimmering synths, and floating atmospheres across a brilliantly composed debut EP. Like much of the work on Analogue Attic, 3 Days, 2 Nights is an immersive fusion of organic and electronic sounds that evoke the wind-swept countryside of Australia.
Ahead of tomorrow’s release, you can pre-order the EP here, with “Ladies Well” streaming in full via the player below.
