John Swing Readies 10-track LP

Enigmatic producer John Swing is set to release a 10-track long player on his and EMG’s LiveJam Records this December.

Founded in 2009 and co-owned by EMG and John Swing, LiveJam Records is the parent label hosting a variety of the duo’s outlets, including LiveJam Limited, Warm Sounds, Relative, Experiential Learning, and many more. All of the productions on LiveJam follow a singular approach to recording live straight into tape and the analog component is clearly a distinctive character for every single one of its after releases.

John Swing’s heterogeneous set of production abilities is audible in all his ventures: whether under his house beats / broken tech moniker The Raw Interpreter on Warm Sounds, live-recorded techno project Appointment (together with EMG and The Analogue Cops), or alongside EMG as duo Vinalog on the Relative imprint.

Assorted Moods is a turning point in John Swing’s artist output, straying from his signature house and techno sound towards many of his other influences throughout the years: from jazz to dub, funk to hip-hop and of course, club music.

Tracklisting:

01.Talking Tones
02. Touch ft. Eternauta
03. Caribe

Assorted Moods LP drops on LiveJam Records on December 5. Stream it now here.

Delorean Shares New Video

Back in June, Spanish group Delorean released their fifth studio album, Muzik, via PHLEX.

Although it was a pop-based record, the band looked to house music as its main inspiration, as they told SPIN:

“We spent the last two years writing songs for our a new album. We’re happy to finally share the nine tracks that made it to Muzik. We tried to write songs freely inspired by the house music we owe some much to. It’s a pop record too of course. We wanted to focus again on what’s central to our lives, which is simply music. We wanted no rush to make it, and we don’t ask any from the listener neither.”

The latest asset to drop from the album is a video for “Epic,” directed by Joan Guasch with art direction and animation by Blāo. The video is a hypnotic and beautifully composed piece that works “around the idea of the origin of sound and how it would behave in an extreme nature environment”

Check out the video in full via the player below.

Mumdance Talks Modular

Grime artist Mumdance has shared a studio tutorial video.

The video, filmed at the RBMA UK Tour 2016, see’s the producer conduct an in depth studio tutorial, chatting through his gear, including breaking down his live modular rig and the creative possibilities it affords him, while also reflecting on his attitude towards DJing and his philosophic approach to the dancefloor.

The video is streamable in full below.

Pavel Dovgal ‘Quency’ feat. Mujuice

THE AURA is the latest album from Russian artist Pavel Dovgal. The LP, which is out now via Project Mooncircle, includes contributions from Mujuice, Graciela Maria, LA rapper BLU, and Starving Yet Full (ex-vocalist from Azari III), and was inspired by extensive trips around Asia, jazz music of the 70’s, and ethnic African sounds. Musically, THE AURA takes cues from a diverse range of styles and genres, from electronica to bass music, hip-hop, and wonky downtempo.

In support of the album, Dovgal has passed over “Quency” feat. Mujuice as one of today’s XLR8R downloads. As you’ll hear, obvious comparisons could be drawn to the work of artists like Bonobo and Gold Panda, but Dovgal manages to inject his own personality and style into the mix of trippy organic textures.

“Quency” feat. Mujuice can be downloaded via WeTransfer below, with the album available via Project Mooncircle.

Fabric to Reopen in January 2017

fabric has confirmed details of its reopening.

After a four-month enforced closure, it was announced two weeks ago that the London club would soon be back in action under new licensing conditions. The venue has now shared details of its reopening weekend plans.

fabric is keeping the complete lineups of the weekend’s events secret for now, instead promising that they will be “populated with a host of unannounced special guests from our history and our future.” On Friday January 6, a FABRICLIVE event with a wealth of bass acts will get proceedings underway. The following night, Saturday January 7, will centre around residents Craig Richards and Terry Francis, plus guests. Finally, Jacob Husley and Peter Pixzel‘s weekly WetYourSelf! residency will continue on Sunday January 8.

The club made the following statement, thanking everyone who had supported their cause: “It’s pretty much impossible for us to put a measure on just how much gratitude we are feeling right now to be able to announce our reopening proper. We’ve said it before and we will keep on saying it – you are all to thank for this. The credit for this is shared among hundreds of thousands of petition signers, letter writers, donors, T Shirt bearers, artists, party promoters and more than we can ever recount. A community of people from the world over who came together and continued the principal of unity that was central to the foundation of our culture – to save us.

Now it’s about what’s ahead of us. We’re looking ahead to filling our disco with our family of artists and club heads alike, with sound systems including our new Pioneer Pro Audio Room Two set up pushing out mesmeric high level sound. This is what it has always been about.”

Premiere: Hear a New Track from Frequency and Juan Atkins

Over the last five years, Out-ER has released a steady stream of world-class releases from, among others, Dutch heavyweight Orlando Voorn, Detroit pioneer Terrence Dixon, The Analouge Cops, UK veteran Aubrey, and label founders Simone Gatto and Andrea Santoro.

The latest release to arrive via the Berlin-based label will be a celebratory compilation featuring cuts from the aforementioned names, as well as Efdemin, Regen, Haiku & Irakli, Frequency Vs Juan Atkins, and Civilian. Stylistically, the album runs the gamut from warped electronica to heads-down, spacey techno; and across the nine tracks, Gatto and Santoro look at presenting a sound that unifies artists the world over, as they explain:

“Our aim has always been to define a sound capable of uniting Europe and America through an imaginative bridge existing since ’90s. We strongly take inspiration from the emotions and melodies located in the old school tradition, yet we try rework the history in a contemporary key, adorning every sonorous element properly arranged in each track. The collaboration with such electronic music forerunners as Juan Atkins, Orlando Voorn and Terrence Dixon is a huge satisfaction for us.”

OUT-ER 5 Years Anniversary will officially drop on December 5 via the Out-ER Bandcamp page. Ahead of that release, the label has offered up a full stream of Frequency and Juan Atkins’ mind-bending techno cut “Reloaded,” available via the player below.
