Hyperdub will release Lee Gamble’s Flush Real Pharynx LP next year. The album will be released in three parts, and today the label has detailed In A Paraventral Scale, part one, scheduled forFebruary 1 release. The other two parts will come out later in 2019 and will be complemented by a new audio-visual live show.
In a Paraventral Scale follows Gamble’s Mnestic Pressure, alsoreleased on Hyperdub. We’re told that it zooms in on the seductive/destructive nature of present-day reality through a symbolic prism inhabited by snakes, vehicles, and mirages. Gamble “exposes us to a new type of digital theatre, a unique and futuristic filmic world blurring the distinction between non-musical sound, music, and dancefloor, a push and pull between reality and fictional worlds.”
Flush Real Pharynx is a sonic documentary, and loosely explores three stages of the “Semioblitz,” the aggressive onslaught of visual and sonic stimuli of contemporary cities and virtual spaces.

Vancouver’s Loscil has launched the first vinyl pressing of his sophomore album, Submers.
Originally released 16 years ago with Kranky, the album followed up conceptual-heavy debut Triple Point and added to Loscil’s reputation as an emerging voice in electronic music. Each track on Submers is named after submarines from the pioneering phase of the technology, sonically resonating with a reflection into the environments present during the first deep-sea voyages. Melding ambient and light percussive elements stretching into the realm of techno, the album’s texture is pulled from classical recordings processed and altered heavily. A 2LP version is now available across select record shops, with ordering options from Bleep here.
“I’m not one to wax nostalgic about my past work—I think many artists are the same way, your most recent work is your most important—but every now and then a bit of reflection is tolerable. Submers represents the early stages of Loscil as a project. It came together pretty quickly after my debut, Triple Point, and I recall trying to rapidly evolve the sound into something a little more dense and textured. I was searching for depth and this is where both the sonic qualities and the theme for the album came from. There is a certain innocent immaturity about this effort that helps and hinders Submers as an album. I can say I’m proud of it, but there’s also no way I would make this record today. On the 25th anniversary of Kranky as a label, I feel grateful to have this opportunity to reflect and see this album for what it is—a step on a path I’m still on. The fact that Kranky has interest in keeping this album alive is something I’m truly thankful for—even when fighting the urge to bury all my past works because there’s something I no longer identify with in the approach or the execution.” — Loscil
Italy’s Bruno Bavota is joining Brooklyn-based Temporary Residence Ltd. for the release of his next full-length, RE_CORDIS, scheduled to hit record stores in January 2019.
Recorded in Bavota’s hometown of Naples, Italy over the course of one session, the album explores some of his most recognized and celebrated works from the last eight years, including some of those from Il Pozzo d’Amor, The Secret of The Sea, La Casa Sulla Luna, Mediterraneo, Out of The Blue, and Impression. New to the album are “Moving Clouds” and “The Night Of,” with an official live video of the song’s recording session revealed too. Bavota can be seen simultaneously layering multiple piano parts and changing the subtle electronic textures from his effects pedals and processors.
Temporary Residence Ltd. tells us: “The recording is charmingly informal, leaving the sounds of Bavota’s physical movements—the shuffling of feet, the triggering of effects pedals, the creaking of stools—present in the mix to mingle with the music. As an exhibition of Bavota’s skills as a composer and performer, it’s impressive; as a glimpse of what’s to come, it’s an epiphany.”

Later this week, Jelly Bean Farm will close out the year with Krotone‘s latest EP, Bubbles.
The release will close out the year for Jelly Bean Farm, which was launched in 2017 by California’s Ganesa and has since gone on to release music from Hodge, Truska, Cloaka, and Mershak, among others. Comprised of four tracks, Bubbles finds the Leeds-based Krotone in fine form, touching on grime, breakbeat, UK bass, and darker shades of techno—sometimes all at once on the same track—in a nod to his relationship with UK dance and soundsystem culture. The five cuts on Bubbles all aim squarely at the floor with buzzing low-end energy and hard-hitting percussion.
Bubbles officially drops on December 7 and can be pre-ordered here, with the breaks-heavy title track streaming in full via the player below.
Leon Vynehall has mixed the next DJ-Kicks compilation, due for release through !K7 on February 1, 2019.
The 26-track mix features new material Vynehall himself, as well as exclusives by Hessle Audio and Timedance affiliate Ploy, rising newcomer Peach, and Pavilion. It also features a number of gems that will be available digitally for the first time ever from the likes of Bourbonese Qualk, The Bygraves, Degrees Of Freedom, Ellen Fullman, Crinan, Primitive, and Haroumi Hosono’s “Rose & Beast.”
“I wanted to approach this more like a compilation than a stand-alone ‘mix.’ To me, compiling a DJ-Kicks is a significant statement of intent and representation, so with that in mind, I thought more about the selection than the mix. Being given the responsibility to select work from artists I admire, some of which have only ever been released on their first vinyl presses many years ago, was a task I didn’t take lightly.” — Leon Vynehall

輪迴 (English: reincarnation) is the second mixtape from Taiwanese sound and performance artist Sabiwa, out now via Chinabot. Over 12 tracks, she interprets reincarnation through bass heavy rhythms, dissected sound art, and intense vocal gymnastics.
Sabiwa started playing cello at the age of 12, developing later a deep interest in electronic music, sound design, and field recording. She produces, records, and dissects sounds from natural and synthetic sources, making them interact with complex texture and abstract patterns, also using her voice as a “guiding path.” She divides her time between Berlin, Taipei and Torino.
Chinabot is a platform and collective created to change the dialogue surrounding Asian music.

Dome of Doom‘s Rah Zen will soon release The Beat Will Always Save Us Vol. 1, a 35-track compilation of artists that have played the Nightworks events, aiming to showcase the raw talent that has made the project one of the most celebrated among fans of hip-hop and electronic fans in Boston.
Having released his debut album, Midnight Satori, on Dome of Doom last year, Rah Zen launched a series of monthly shows that featured headliners such as Jeremiah Jae, Dibia$e, and Elaquent. As Rah Zen states, “It started in the aftermath of an incredibly vibrant Midnight Satori release party (the prototype formula for the show) because everyone was asking me when the next beat show was. It was a bit over two months before I left on the road for LA, but I knew I wanted to make it happen, so I assembled the squad, booked the lineup, and the gave it the name Nightworks, an ode and flip on Dilla/Raymond Scott’s Lightworks.
The release aims to commemorate the first anniversary of the collective’s work by featuring artists who have played the Nightworks events.

The Beat Will Always Save Us Vol. 1 lands on Dome of Doom across limited edition cassette and digital platforms on December 7. Meanwhile, you can stream the compilation below and check out a recap video of their first performance.
The LP was birthed following an invitation to collaborate together at this year’s Berlin Atonal, and is a live recording made at the premiere of the piece. According to the press release, the work “meditates on saturation and the ruptures that occur when harmonic elements are stacked.” Living in a dynamic middle ground between each of the artist’s styles, the music is beautifully dense, rich, and engrossing, placing focus on harmony and texture.
Immediate Horizon is available now and can be purchased here, with a preview of the LP streaming below.
Lia Mice recently delivered The Sampler As A Time Machine, an atmospheric new album via Optimo Music inspired by her interest in time travel and how the human brain perceives time from moment to moment; how people can experience overlapping time; and how we interact with our past and future through memory and imagination. All eight tracks carefully fuse new wave, experimental electro pop, techno, and industrial music.
Early 2019 will also see the remix album of The Sampler As A Time Machine, featuring a Kid Who remix, available to download now via the WeTransfer button below, or here for EU readers due to temporary GDPR restrictions.
“I got to know Kid Who going to nights in London like World Unkown and Don’t Be Afraid, and Kid Who and End All Work’s night Power Outrage. We would always chat about gear because we are both really into producing using hardware. Kid Who’s production is great so I asked him to do a remix of Marconi’s Eternal Tone Cloud. From the album version he took some of the beats, melodies, bells, drones, and atmospheres and mangled them in his Digitakt and the result is this deep electro remix.” — Lia Mice
