Superfreq’s MR. C Joins Krafted Music Group at Union Nightclub

Krafted Music Group, an umbrella organization that runs over ten record labels including EJ Underground, Sounds of Juan, Endemic Digital, Soaring Sounds Records, and more is set to make its Los Angeles debut on May 12 at Union Nightclub. To mark this occasion, Krafted has enlisted the help of DJ-producer MR. C.

For the past thirteen years, Superfreq founder Mr. C has been an essential component in a vibrant underground tech-house scene in both London and Los Angeles. Organizing various events throughout his home cities and releasing a large volume of releases, the sound of Superfreq remains an essential component of the underground electronic scene. In 1995, he and Layo & Bushwacka‘s Layo Paskin opened the End, one of the iconic clubs of London nightlife history—and though that nitery closed in 2009, Mr. C is still a major player on the scene.

At the event, MR. C will see support from a secret guest who has supposedly been signed to big name labels such as Dirtybird, Toolroom, and Hot Creations.

Loveland Sets Up Shop in Barcelona During OFF Week

Sporting over 20 years of experience, the well-known Dutch festival promoter Loveland will be setting up shop in Barcelona for two days during Off Week for a display of techno excellence. Running on June 17 and 18, Loveland Barcelona‘s first edition will take place at the Port Forum, an open air venue with industrial frame, seaside views, green spaces, and Mediterranean vibes.

On June 17, Swedish techno stalwart Adam Beyer’s Drumcode label takeover has put together a lineup in union with the Loveland’s preferred and cultivated sound for what is bound to be a hell of a day and night. Artists who are set to play on both stages include Dense & Pika, Enrico Sangiuliano, Luigi Madonna, Marco Faraone, Pan-Pot, Paul Ritch (live), Sam Paganini, Bart Skils, and Nick Curly, among others.

Pulling out all the stops for this intriguing and wildly promising two-day event, Loveland has also enlisted a huge number of artists who will be performing strictly live sets for the third official edition of Loveland Live. The artists set to perform on this stage on June 18 are Audion, Gabriel Ananda, Henrik Schwarz, KiNK, Rodriguez Jr, Stephan Bodzin, Vince Watson, Wareika, DOP, Egbert, Gaiser, Julian Jeweil, Matador, Redshape, Secret Cinema, Skudge, and Surgeon.

Stream a New Vinyl-Only Release from Surachai

Today, BL_K Noise imprint will release Instinct and Memory, the latest LP from Surachai.

Made up of eight mechanical soundscapes, Instinct and Memory sits somewhere in the vast analog noise realm, but it’s also an album that showcases the Chicago producer’s knack for crafting powerful and intricate rhythms and droning atmospheres. Like most of Surachai’s work, the sounds on the LP are conjured from a deep knowledge and relationship with machines, machines that in this case sound like they are let off the leash to run wild across a desolate, apocalyptic sonic landscape.

The label on which Instinct and Memory will be released, was conceived by the two long-time collaborating artists as a means to release art free from convention and restrictions. With a focus on the physical form, namely vinyl, each release involves the artist in every step and strives to strengthen the relationship between visual art and music.

Tim Green Next Up On Body Language Compilation

London-based production talent Tim Green has been chosen to curate the latest installment of the Body Language DJ mix series from renowned label Get Physical. The past few years have seen Tim Green establish himself as a mainstay of anthemic and contemporary dance music, with several club-friendly releases on Cocoon Recordings and a slew of more emotive, contemplative releases on My Favorite Robot Records.

Green showcases his impeccable sequencing skills on his first commercially available mix, taking listeners on a 72-minute sonic journey that explores the delicate, autumnal side of deep house before shifting to tough, crisp techno. The expertly curated selections include exclusives and special edits from Green himself, a delightfully ominous Lusine remix for Max Cooper, as well as tracks from the likes of KiNK, Harald Bjork, and more.

Body Language Vol. 18 by Tim Green is scheduled for release on June 3rd.

Justin Cudmore “Crystal” (G. Haslam Périphérique Mix)

Illinois-born Justin Cudmore’s debut EP Crystal dropped as the tenth release on Honey Soundsytem’s record label earlier this month. A former staff member of Little White Earbuds, he has recently been garnering attention for his Hotmix parties across Brooklyn, as well as for his productions (being picked up on last year’s Deep Club sampler).

The EP features remixes of the title track by recent guests at those Hotmix parties, Mike Servito and Gunnar Haslam. Today’s download is a bonus remix from the latter of the two, Haslam, who is giving away his Périphérique mix of “Crystal.” Haslam is a former participant in our podcast series, who emerged in 2013, and has since released tunes on the likes of Delsin, L.I.E.S. and Mister Saturday Night. The New York-based artist was formerly a student of particle physics, but is totally focused on house and techno production now, both alone and as Romans alongside Tin Man.

In contrast to the relatively restrained acid workout that is Haslam’s Dekalb Avenue mix (featured on the release), the Périphérique mix pulls no punches, with crashing drums pouring over distorted synths. Rekids Reveals DJ Spider EP

Rob Hampton (a.k.a. DJ Spider) is set to release an EP via Radio Slave‘s Rekids this June.

New Jersey’s DJ Spider has been pumping out house and techno records at a quick rate since 2008, with EPs arriving on BleeD, Vanguard Sound! and his own Sublevel Sounds this year already. Having initially confined his output mostly to Sublevel and its parent Plan B Recordings (alongside the likes of Hakim Murphy, Amir Alexander and co-owner Dakini9), things have gone more international for Spider in the past few years, with his records turning up on the likes of The Trilogy Tapes, NORD and Killekill. His next effort will be through Rekids, the label run by Matt Edwards (a.k.a. Radio Slave).

Ninja Drive-By will hit stores on June 17. Check out snippets from his most recent effort on BleeD below for a taste of what he can do.

Plaid Return to Warp

Ed Handley and Andy Turner (a.k.a. Plaid) have announced their 11th full-length together, which will be released this June.

The UK-based duo first popped up at the end of the ‘80s as part of The Black Dog‘s original lineup, before debuting as Plaid in 1991, and have been putting out inventive, high-quality IDM and electronica since, mainly via Warp. Following on from 2014’s Reachy Prints LP, the pair return to the label with their 11th full-length, The Digging Remedy. It promises to be some of Plaid’s most varied output yet, also featuring contributions from multi-instrumentalist Benet Walsh, both on flute and guitar.

The Digging Remedy is due out on June 10. Check out one of the cuts from it, “Clock,” via the group’s album page. The LP can be pre-ordered through Bleep.

Movement Croatia Finalizes Lineup

For the over 10 years now, the forward-thinking gritty techno festival known as Movement has brought millions of die-hard dance music lovers to Detroit year after year to receive a three-day “heritage trip” of electronic bliss at Hart Plaza over Memorial Day weekend. Holding a great deal of international recognition as well, the brand has previously migrated to Torino in Italy and is now gearing up to set up a third festival taking place in Croatia. The dates have been set for July 28th through August 1st will take place at The Garden Resort in Tisno. This scenic and tranquil seaside location will host a list of cherished electronic artists for five days of quality house and techno.

Having already carefully picked headliners such as Ben Klock, Nina Kravitz, Marcel Dettmann, Octave One, and Robert Hood as Floorplan, Movement Croatia’s has now finalized its choice lineup with further electronic heavyweights including the sonic spartan Petre Inspirescu, Berghain and Panorama Bar resident Ryan Elliott, Italian duo Mind Against, Mike Shannon, Agoria, and more.

Ma Spaventi Announces Album

MarcoAntonio Spaventi (a.k.a. Ma Spaventi) has shared details of his sophomore album, which will be released via MOS Recordings this June.

Amsterdam-based Italian Spaventi first emerged in 2012 on a joint EP with James Priestley of Secretsundaze, and has since put out music on the likes of Slow Motion, Pizzico and MOS Recordings. Isola Sommersa, his sophomore full-length, is set to be distributed by the latter. According to the label, it “boasts nine tracks of typically rugged and refreshing house sounds that are deep, atmospheric and perfect for the floor.”

Isola Sommersa will be released digitally and as a double 12″ on June 20. Check out snippets, and pre-order it at Delsin.

Watch Rebolledo’s Motorized and Vintage Album Documentary

Rebolledo has just dropped a charming and vintage “short documentary” surrounding his forthcoming album Mondo Alterado, set to drop via Hippie Dance on May 27.

According to the Kompakt website, the album is “a recollection of moments and experiences from recent years, colorful mnemonics encompassing the brightest and the darkest.” In the video, which is packed with humor and old school aesthetics, we can see the technology, mindset and design behind the creation of the album.
