Ukraine label Subself has released its first cassette compilation focusing on both originals and remixes from the label residents, among them Animous, Spigl, and Kontext. “Glitter Wave,” from the latter of these names, real name Stanislav Sevostyanikhin, is a deep and hypnotic jam with smooth vocals. In support of the release, out now, we’re offering it as one of today’s free downloads via the WeTransfer button below, or here for EU readers.
Jazz of the Machine is a new concept album written and recorded by Ohm Hourani, out now on his Anoma imprint.
The project employs a modular synthesizer to create its own sound patterns, which Hourani then modifies and fine-tunes while matching the patterns with rhythmic structures and further musical explorations by several of Hourani’s collaborators.
Now, to give further insight into the project and the album’s creation, Hourani has released a video directed by Anthony Sifoni that details the concepts and various challenges experienced while making the record.
You can watch the video in full below, with the album available here.
Ose will deliver her debut album via her own Ghunghru sound imprint in September.
With and Without is described as a “45-minute poignant meditation on vulnerability and an exhilarating exploration of the coming together of two discrete and far-removed worlds.”
Ose trained as a Hindustani classical vocalist in New Delhi and possesses a deep knowledge of this ancient art. She’s been based in San Francisco for the last eight years but found her way into modular synthesis only a year ago. Using analog synthesizers, drum machines, and her voice, she crafts a lush interplay between Hindustani music and ambient textures, with emphasis on immersion, distorted rhythm, and disorienting glitch. All her previous work has come through Ghunghru.
The album will premiere in Berlin in July at Golem, an immersive dance performance. The first of its kind, it offers a live showing in virtual reality viewable from anywhere in the world with a VR headset. The entire album will be danced to in the performance.
Artwork and visuals for the album are by visual artist Aishwarya Vardhana.
The Newcomer has shared “Love In The End Times,” a new single ahead of his album debut coming later this year via Astro Nautico.
The Newcomer first made waves across the early 2010s as upstart producer Young Montana?, but slunk back into the shadows shortly thereafter. He recently re-emerged with series of shadowy EPs for cult imprints Opal Tapes and patten’s 555-5555.
“Love In The End Times” is the first song in a body of work that was born out of an out of body experience—a “fugue state”—where everything became alien to him. In this state, he lost all his music, and so had to build his entire library from scratch again. The track itself is inspired by John Frusciante’s now-deleted home recordings LP from the mid-90s. “There’s a strange charisma to those songs, performed as if no-one would ever hear them, a vibe I channel in my own work,” he says.
Love In The End Times is available now via Astro Nautico.
The release title is the Portuguese word for the emotional state of nostalgia or longing for something or someone. It’s a feeling that has hit Trago as a response to his new life on the Netherlands’ North Sea-facing West Coast. While happy in his new home studio, Trago found his mind wandering back to happy days and nights spent jamming with friends in his basement studio beneath Volkshotel in Amsterdam.
Saudade was made during one of those all-night sessions alongside JP Enfant, a DJ-producer known for his residency at De School.
The A-side “Main Mix” fizzes with excitement. Sentimental, emotion-stirring chords, lilting lead lines, chiming melodies, and ecstatic electronics rise above a chunky, hot-stepping drum machine rhythm. It’s nostalgic but immediate, described as “a musical marriage of two giddy producers living for the moment.”
On the flip is the “Ambient Mix,” with all immersive synthesizer chords, yearning musical motifs, and seductive melodies.
Threaded Habitat follows two popular releases on Jacktone, 2015’s Mystique Youth and 2016’s Horizons Beneath The Surface, which both appeared under his Lavender alias. The transition to Hugo R.A. Paris—his debut under his given name—marks a “more personal shift in approach,” the label explains.
The album combines ambient textures and techno rhythms to reflect tension between humanity and nature, particularly the cyclical nature of collapse and renewal. It’s said to “capture moments of claustrophobia and bliss,” and was mostly recorded in layers of single takes with minimal processing to preserve its raw emotion and embrace minor imperfections. It comes accompanied by three videos and a sample pack.
It also marks Jacktone’s first collaborative release with the record store and label Beacon Sound. Beacon Sound is an important node in Portland, where Paris also lives and developed the flagship modular product for leading Eurorack manufacturer 4MS: the SWN (pronounced “swan”.) The album’s closing track was entirely composed on a SWN prototype and recorded in one take.
Tracklisting:
A1. Hypnosis
A2. Orb of Truth
A3. Nurture
A4. Medieval Vessel
B1. Convent Clustered
B2. Crooked Gears
B3. Heliophagis
Threaded Habitat is available for pre-order today. The handmade vinyl package will be released July 19 through Jacktone and Beacon Sound’s webshops, with worldwide sales beginning August 2. A remix release will arrive later in the Fall.
Peter Ibbetson has revealed Control Yourself, a new EP after last year’s Rivals.
Ibbetson, a London-based producer, and multi-instrumentalist, uses live drums, analogue synthesisers, and drum machines to create a sound that encompasses electronica, house, techno, post-rock, and ambient elements. He cut his teeth touring as part of the live outfits for George FitzGerald and Makeness.
Control Yourself is a heady mix of analog synthesisers, live drums, and expansive soundscapes that create a multi-textured, layered journey. It draws influence from Boards of Canada, Caribou, Tortoise, Four Tet, LCD Soundsystem, and Aphex Twin.
“Control Yourself is a reaction to the idea of restricting yourself in creating music, forcing yourself to break away from your creative habits, and open your ears and head to new possibilities,” Ibbetson says.
In support of the EP, out now, we’re offering “Thistle Hotels” as one of today’s free downloads. The deep track builds to a blissful late night conclusion over six minutes of impeccably layered electronics. Grab it now via the WeTransfer button below, or here for EU readers due to GDPR restrictions.

Dominik Eulberg will release his fifth studio album, Mannigfaltig, in September, more than eight years after his Diorama LP. “Music only makes sense for me if it has something to say,” he explains. “And I have something to say now!”
Mannigfaltig is an album about the colourfulness of nature, which for Eulberg is “the greatest artist of all” and something that soothes his soul. Through 12 elaborate pieces of music, the German artist creates a burning plea to preserve the breathtaking biodiversity of nature and warns of the threat posed to it by humans. It’s a musical attempt to mirror the endless variation of nature and “highlight the entire colour palette.”
Eulberg came up with the concept during a hiking tour in his home town when he first came into contact with a butterfly whose name is literally translated as “golden-eight.” Then he saw a songbird called “nine-slayer” and heard the calls of a dormouse, whose name in German is “seven-sleeper.”
The album progresses sonically from Eulberg’s earlier work thanks to new synths, mixers, and techniques. He uses his synths like a water-colour painter, spreading them across the airwaves in soft tones and with blurred edges. Reconciling the beauty of nature with the beauty of sound, Eulberg aims to take the listener through dewy mornings, Spring afternoons, and brightly lit forest rambles with a real delicacy that replicates the majesty of the natural world.
Away from music, Eulberg’s fascination with nature has seen him devote his life to its preservation and study, from launching his own insect/plant identification service to designing his own bird card game. This is his debut on !K7, after albums on Cocoon Recordings and Traum Schallplatten.
“I wanted to create a positive record, a mosaic of many small pleasures that can be listened to in a range of settings, from home listening to long drives. The most beautiful setting would be listening whilst contemplating and observing nature; as it is indeed its origin. On a conceptional level, I want to use this musical platform to advocate the importance of biodiversity. It is my mission, and even the meaning of my life, to turn people’s senses and attention to nature. The threat human behaviour poses to nature has never been more real, with more species dying out than ever before, in such short spaces of time. This record is my attempt to point out the importance of giving our animal friends the space they need. Our survival and that of future generations depends on a thriving biodiversity. It is a kind of life insurance for us. ” — Dominik Eulberg
Mannigfaltig LP will be released on September 6 via !K7, with “Goldene Acht” streaming in full below.
